Material Specialist III – Maintenance/Shipboard
GENERAL SUMMARY:
Advises, supports, and assists maintenance personnel to ensure a systematic approach to maintenance operations of ground equipment. Records, maintains, and documents maintenance actions, requirements, and equipment repair statuses in accordance with maintenance management policy, publications, programs and procedures. Utilizes a maintenance information system (GCSS-MC or equivalent system) to perform maintenance administration and analyzes and corrects non-conformities, performs technical research, requisitioning and issue of equipment supplies. Must possess a working knowledge of maintenance management functional elements/areas, maintenance production functions, and maintenance engineering actions in support of equipment Total Lifecycle Management (TLCM). Maintenance Programs include the following (MDSS II, PQDR, Calibrations, Modifications, Quality, Safety, CPAC, Publication Control, warranty, Tool Control, and Deferred Maintenance Programs). This includes troubleshooting and problem solving related to the above functions. Provides training and guidance to lower-level employees. Performs other tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school graduate or equivalent. Four years related experience. Complete the Computer Operator Course, or equivalent. Completion of the Basic Marine Corps Integrated Maintenance Management Course or service equivalent training related to Maintenance Administration. Complete Combat Service Support Chief Course, or equivalent. Solid understanding of the organization's logistic functions and the activities involved in providing logistical support. Working knowledge of information processing methodology / technology, computer capabilities, and processing techniques. Working knowledge of various computer features and functions. Skills to read, interpret, and correctly respond to information in the form in which it is transmitted through the computer system. Possess a valid State Motor Vehicle Operator License. Ability to comply with all established methods, safety standards, quality standards, and time schedules applicable to this position. U.S. Citizen. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC) and Base Access.
