KBR is seeking a Satellite Operations Specialist to join our team in Colorado Springs, CO. Position Title: Satellite Operations Specialist - TS/SCI with CI Polygraph
Position Summary:
Conducts mission/program specific real-time spacecraft/satellite flight operations during pre-launch readiness, operational and evaluation phases
Develops detailed plans and procedures to provide maximum mission support and analysis in areas such as orbit dynamics, satellite performance analysis, and on-orbit command and control and special operations
Provides technical direction for on-orbit mission support, plans for critical vehicle malfunctions and recommends alternate operating techniques to continue maximum mission support
Provides failure analysis of the performance of the orbiting satellites to include subsystems and instruments
Utilizes system software to accomplish all spacecraft control tasks and improvements
Support test and validation of software performance
Performs flight length orbit adjustments, special event studies and technical briefings
Performs all other duties as assigned
Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs a variety of activities associated with the analysis of both ground operational systems and spacecraft operational systems. The role will support the following activities:
Planning, supporting, and conducting operations for orbital space systems, ballistic missiles, upper stages, launch vehicles, and other special test activities
Establishing, implementing, and maintaining standardized operating procedures
Issuing instructions to and coordinating with appropriate elements of the Satellite Control Network (SCN), and/or other government organizations
Conflict resolution that supports the acquisition, tracking, commanding, control, and telemetry data acquisition for space vehicles
Mission and pre-pass planning, scheduling, as well as the required coordination to achieve contact success
Real-time evaluation of spacecraft, payload, and ground systems status in accordance with established mission requirements
Real-time trend analysis that includes but is not limited to, the identification of anomalous conditions
Troubleshooting operational problems, assisting in determination of root causes, documenting these problems, and participating in corrective and prevention activities
Issuing commands, directives, and other instructions to fixed, deployable, and mobile-tracking stations within specified timelines
Developing and implementing commanding, tracking, and telemetry pre-pass tests
Conducting post-pass critiques with tracking stations and other real-time support work centers and participates in technical meetings
Maintaining of daily activity logs, that provides an accurate summary of operations and maintenance events as well as end-of-mission reports
Operational testing on Customer Workload assets, Core Operations assets in support of Core System upgrades. This includes, but is not limited to, planning and preparation, operation of the equipment, database validation, performance evaluations, and suitability assessments
Basic Qualifications and Skills Requirements:
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in satellite operations systems
Must possess an active DOD TS/SCI clearance with a CI Polygraph
Available to work shifts supporting a 24/7/365 day operations
No relocation funds are available for this position
Must be able to successfully complete a thorough background investigation associated with working in a secured environment
Preferred Qualifications and Skills Requirements:
Associates degree preferred
Certified operator of DOD and/or NRO programs
Familiar with AFSCN and 22 SOPS scheduling requirements, (PAP, SAT and MOSAT)
Experience in operating multiple satellite families is a plus
Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40
Basic Compensation: 28.75 - 43.07 USD Hourly
The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
Additional Compensation:
