D Shift (Night) - Shift 6 PM to 6AM

The Equipment Specialist:

• 12 HR -Night Shift Position 6PM - 6AM

• Operates and monitors automated manufacturing equipment and processes.

• Must certify on multiple processes.

• May perform manual manufacturing operations such as manual packing.

• Will monitor product quality in accordance with task instructions.

• Conducts on-the-job training for other associates.

• Works as a member of a self-directed work team.

• Participates in all team meetings, activities, team building initiatives, and continuous improvement activities.  

Responsibilities:

• Operates multiple processes on high speed automated or semi-automated manufacturing equipment.

• Participates in all equipment changeovers or set-ups.

• Monitors assigned processes to ensure high quality production.

• Removes defective product from the automated or semi-automated processes.

• Participates in the division of labor of self-directed work responsibilities including attendance, scheduling of work assignments, compliance audits, etc.

• Maintains equipment and a clean area by performing tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and wiping down equipment.

• Maintains an open line of communication to ensure all problems/changes are communicated and resolved in a timely manner.

• Maintains records and documents as required.

• Determines the cause of quality problems and takes appropriate action per the task documents.

• May perform Process Control Operator duties, as required.

• Works overtime as needed by the department.

• Actively participates in Continuous Improvement teams and activities, including 5S, blitzes, Shift Start-up, updating PVD boards, etc.

• Continuously improves through the KAS program, meeting department goals for completed KAS.

• Complies with all local, state, federal, and BD safety regulations, policies, and procedures including RCRA Hazardous Waste regulations.

• Complies with all local BD quality policies, procedures, and practices through consistent application of sound quality assurance principles.

• Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience Requirements:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Needle Packaging Set-up Operators will be responsible for production on their designated lines as well as maintaining machine runtime and performing some mechanical repairs. 

• They may be trained on any of the processes or lines in the department to help fill production needs, but will have an assigned focus area to build expertise. 

• They may perform visual inspections as well as assembly or packaging operations. 

• Will be responsible for achieving production rate and quality goals on assigned equipment. 

• May require the use of 10x microscopes, calipers, and/or other miscellaneous gauges. 

• May be required to perform SAP data entries.  Perform changeovers and line clearances. 

• Help maintain inventory of spare parts and prepare for upcoming work on the lines. 

• Must be willing to troubleshoot machines and help identify methods to increase efficiency of the lines. 

• Informal leader of their respective line and responsible for ensuring quality of the product they produce.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Achieving established production goals

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education:  

• Must have High School Diploma/GED

Minimum Experience: 

• Prefer a working knowledge of machines and troubleshooting.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities (KSA’s): 

• Problem solving/decision making.

• Computer skills (Microsoft Office).

• Oral and written communication skills.

Job Summary:
Manages the Scheduling of Operations in Label Print. Responsible for Producing Quality Labels and Mats for Production Orders and External Customers in a Safe Manner, while Minimizing Waste.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Essential Functions of this Position include but are not limited to:

• Managing the Scheduling and Operations of the Printing Press, Slitters and UDI Printers to produce Quality Labels in a timely manner to meet Customer Needs.

• Performing Internal Scheduling of Labels to maintain an Efficient Operation with a Minimum of Down-Time for Major Changeovers.

• Utilizing Mat-Making Equipment to meet Label Manufacturing Requirements.

• Ensuring Quality Standards are being met and completes Quality Investigations, finding Root Cause, Corrective Action, and Preventive Action.

• Coordinating with the Label Print Coordinator to ensure Orders are Set-Up on time.

• Performing Preventative Maintenance of the Printing Equipment in accordance with Equipment Manuals and Vendor recommendations; refer Major Equipment Problems to the Supervisor and/or Engineering Resource.

• Ensuring all Equipment PMs are Completed and orders Parts as needed from the Parts Crib.

• Coordinating with Label Print Engineer and Label Print Coordinator for External Parts and Repairs.

• Inspects the Raw Materials to ensure the proper Label Stock and Ink meet Specifications and communicates with incoming Supply Quality Engineer for any defects.

THIS SUBJECT MATTER IS RESTRICTED SOLELY FOR THE USE OF BECTON DICKINSON AND COMPANY AND ITS SUBSIDIARIES

• Performing Cycle Counting, Inventory Control, and ensuring all Production is entered into SAP and Apriso correctly.

• Understanding of compendial publications.

• Microbial analysis of finished goods, intermediates, and raw materials. Performs microbial and particulate testing to support environmental monitoring program.

• Assist in the development, validation, and remediation of test methods.

• Preparation of various microbiological test media. Cleans, prepares and sterilizes glassware and laboratory tools.

• Create and execute protocols to support laboratory goals.

• Assist with calibration, maintenance, and repair of laboratory equipment.

• Participate as a member of project teams as assigned, to support sterilization and new product development.

• Assist in training of new team members.

• Lead laboratory improvement projects.

• Communicate with customers on product or project status.

• Ensures that product is tested in a timely manner, minimizing any impacts to production scheduling.

• Operates laboratory test equipment including autoclave, dishwasher, hoods, pH meter, air samplers, etc.

• Responsible for monitoring media and material inventory to avoid testing delays.

• Authors or updates controlled documents utilizing site change control processes.

• Manage and support junior team members with OOS/OOT investigations.

• Ensures good housekeeping practices are followed.

• Ensures testing and documentation are performed according to GMP and GDP practices.

• Trend testing and OOS results in support of annual product reviews and audit preparation.

• Participate in the site internal audit program.

• Participate in document reviews and assessment to support alignment with corporate policies.

• Comply with all local, state, federal, and BD safety regulations, policies, and procedures including RCRA Hazardous waste regulations.

Job Description:

• Configures, validates, deploys, and administrates quality related software systems.

• Composes and implements validations for CSD&V and AME applications.

• Functions as a domain expert in software validation, provides mentorship, and reviews software development/validation documents written by other individuals.

• Applies compliance and notification trends to identify areas of manufacturing improvement using product knowledge, existing specifications, and engineering principles. 

• As needed, develops and employs technical understanding of product characteristics and functional end-use in order to optimally investigate complaint trends or other targeted product functionality improvements.

• Applies problem solving processes to site quality issues and sources potential software related solutions. Effectively manages project timelines and communicates updates to collaborators.

• Crafts and coordinates training and procedures related to compliance and quality software packages. Builds or modifies plant control plans with process remediation activities.

• Leads or participates on multi-functional process remediation and improvement teams as assigned by local quality management.

• Independently identifies process improvement opportunities and implements software solutions.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience Required:

• BS Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field

• Accomplished experience and knowledge may be considered in lieu of a degree.

• Experience in medical device, pharmaceutical, or related manufacturing is required.

Preferred:

• Understanding of software/process validation and quality theories

• Six Sigma Certification

• Statistical Process Control Certification (SPC)

JOB SUMMARY

Operates assembly and packaging equipment in the manufacturing process while maintaining targeted production standards, in Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to:

• Maintains a clean work area and reports any safety hazards to the Manufacturing Supervisor.

• Participates in safety programs and initiatives throughout the plant.

• Knows and observes all quality and GMP standards.

• Works efficiently and cooperates with supervision and other associates.

• Sets up, debugs, adjusts, and operates equipment within specified ranges.

• Performs changeovers on equipment.

• Performs quality inspections according to operational specifications for all operations performed.

• Possesses working knowledge of current production reporting system and how it applies to all positions.

• Performs basic preventative maintenance on equipment as assigned.

• Maintains and handles inventory as necessary.

• Actively participates in continuous improvement activities including BD Production System (BDPS).

• Performs other job-related duties as assigned/needed.

• Medium Work (Level 3) - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds occasionally, or 10 to 25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly.  Physical demand requirements are more than those for Light Work.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions: protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.

• The worker is subject to noise exposure, mechanical hazards, high heat, chemicals, and other industrial hazards associated with manufacturing.
