Summary:
The Select Business Unit (SBU) Account Manager is responsible for providing service to the agency’s clients on their commercial insurance program through various means of communication with strong emphasis on retention and growth through prompt and courteous service. Assists Producers in the placement of new and renewal business.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepare and send Future ACORD applications to market for Renewal indications, per Producer instructions
- Assists with the marketing of New Business
- Provide direct customer service support for commercial lines clients
- Issue appropriate documentation, as needed including certificates of insurance, auto insurance ID cards, etc.
- Compose or assist in composition of highly technical or sensitive correspondence
- Ability to translate highly technical information for the client’s understanding
- Compile applications, negotiating with underwriters and preparing proposals for new and renewal business proposals
- Contact clients and/or underwriters to obtain additional information or answer questions
- Resolve policy and coverage related concerns for clients, insurance carriers, and Producers
- Ability to communicate negative actions to the client, while offering a solution to remedy the situation
- Bind, or place coverage with acceptable carriers adhering to appropriate carriers binding authority
- Stay current on company insurance products and offerings.
- Be cognoscente of developments in the marketplace, including product line offerings, changing insurance consumer trends and needs when advising clients
- Set up and maintain electronic file information in the Agency Management System including data entry and client & policy database maintenance
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of communication pertaining to client’s insurance program
- Review accounts handled for adequate coverage
- Educate, cross sell, and up-sell coverage, recommending changes to insured for enhanced protection, ensuring Profit Center Minimum Standards are being met
- Process change requests and other coverage research issues
- Check policy coverage and endorsements for accuracy
- Assume full responsibility for service and administration of client accounts
- Assist with training of Select Business Unit Teammates and new Producers
- Transact Agency Billed Policy in timely fashion adhering to Brown & Brown protocol
- Review Aged Receivables, follow up on collection of premium payments, and assist the accounting department in reconciliation of company and client accounts
Follow established guidelines for workflow and system documentation
- Consistently meet all Brown & Brown established Quality Control Practices and Timelines
- Manage & maintain individual Washington Producer’s License by attending appropriate CE classes
- Other duties as assigned
Relevant Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret technical and other complex documents
- Ability to write routine correspondence such as letters and memos
- Excellent interpersonal communication and telephone skills
- Ability to de-escalate customers when upset, empathy in situations where claims are reported by clien
- Consistent dependability / availability; excellent attendance record

- Ability to operate basic office equipment, such as photocopier, scanner and fax
Education and Experience Required:
- Current Washington State Insurance License and appropriate Non-Resident Licenses
- 2-5+ years of recent agency experience handling the service of SBU/middle market multi-line commercial lines book of business
- Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, & Outlook)
- Working knowledge of carrier websites (Preferred)
- Professional designations (ACSR, CIC, CPCU, CISR, CRIS, AAI) (Preferred)
- Experience with both Vertafore AMS and ImageRight (Preferred)
Compensation Range - $28-$30 an hour depending on experience
