These positions are located at Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks in the Division of Interpretation, Education and Partnerships, and are supervised by the parks' Transportation Specialist. These parks receive significant visitation (~1.7 million annually) and administratively are among the most complex units of the National Park Service. These parks include some 550 permanent and temporary federal employees as well as over 1,000 volunteers who provide a wide range of public service and support operations which are similar to operations more typically found in a municipal city. These are five major divisions, each of which is further subdivided into functional branches.

Duties:

• Monitors vehicular traffic levels against pedestrian traffic and controls intersections with regards to safety and smooth flow of vehicles.
• Monitors parking lots, directing vehicles including buses and recreational vehicles to appropriate parking stalls.
• Answers a variety of visitor questions.
• Explains regulations to park visitors and provides information and advice on park activities and cultural, historic, and/or natural resources history and location.

• Manages Mission Assurance (MA) Program per DoDI 3020.45 with responsibility for implementation of wing-wide installation response and readiness.

The Office of Audits oversees financial and performance audits, as well as attestation engagements. Special Projects

Provides on a continuing basis effective control of assigned branch projects and special assignments and a means of reporting status and accomplishment thereof to the Branch Manager. Enforcements

Technical Assistance

Exemptions

Incumbent is responsible for the preparation of Federal Register notices regarding original petitions for exemptions within their assigned area of responsibility. Also, the incumbent coordinates with other Aviation Safety and Flight Standards organizations to develop a complete analysis and appropriate response. Since exemptions are rulemaking documents, this review may include coordination with the Office of Rulemaking and the Office of General Counsel so that the denial, grant or disposition of petition for rulemaking will withstand a legal challenge. Technical input must be reviewed for completeness and ensure it responds to all aspects of an exemption petition.

Policy Development and Implementation

Analyzes and evaluates the effectiveness of division policy in assigned programs areas to include evaluation and analysis. Develops policies, including advisory circulars, inspector guidelines, and training standards related to IFO work programs and adherence to related policies. Reviews and evaluates, on a continuing basis, established rules and regulations to assure they have kept pace with needs to which they were directed and that they are still reasonable, necessary, and adequate. Training and Outreach

The incumbent engages with internal and external stakeholders to promote safety, understanding, and compliance related to assigned programs.
