Carry out QA on all X-ray equipment in the department and be a representative of radiology to the wider hospital. Work with the X-ray superintendent on monthly and weekly staffing rotas. Ensure housekeeping is undertaken and up to date for Cleaning of X-ray equipment, audits and Dose monitoring. Be familiar with the range of technical applications available on all Imaging Equipment. Trouble-shoot equipment faults and make suitable provision for the service in the event of equipment failure. Assess the clinical justification of Radiography referrals, in line with both national Regulations (IRMER 2017) and local protocols. Act with delegated authority as a practitioner for plain film radiography referrals.Act as an operator under IRMER (2017).Liaise with referral source where clarification is required regarding selection of the most clinically appropriate imaging examination. Act as a point of advice for imaging referrers and for patient enquiries regarding their referral. Be a patient advocate in Radiation protection and Safeguarding issues. To lead, plan and execute qualification and validation operations, including new analytical methods, new analytical equipment, facilities, and computerised systems within Newcastle Specials to enable new product development and ensure GMP compliance. To ensure the principles of EudraLex Volume 4, Part 1, GMP Annex 15: Qualification and Validation, are applied in the above activities. To ensure all aspects associated with the Validation Protocols are based on Quality Risk Management and compliant with the local Pharmaceutical Quality System. To ensure all Validation protocols are prepared, approved and implemented in accordance with GMP Annex 15 (Qualification and Validation) and Annex 11 (Computerised systems). The relevant concepts and guidance in ICH Q8, Q9, Q10, Q11 and Q12 should also be taken into account. To maintain the Validation Master Plan for maintenance of current equipment and facilities and also managing the introduction of new equipment and processes, co-ordinating quality and production departments to enable timely implementation 1. Identify Critical Quality Attributes for new equipment and processes 2. design and author validation protocols 3. co-ordinate implementation of validation protocols and assessment and management of risks and control strategy 4. Reviewing of completed validation protocols for acceptance of rejection To project manage and ensure that targets for validation protocols are formally and consistently reported at Quality Review Group (QRG) meetings using relevant tools such as GANTT charts to identify milestones and identify and highlight areas that may introduce delay, also any corrective/preventive actions that have been required and documented effectively, including confirmation that actions have been undertaken to maintain target timeframes. To train Newcastle Specials Pharmacy Production & Quality Control staff and others as required (either directly or indirectly) regarding regulatory requirements during new validation processes and implementation. To attend Regulatory audits and provide support and direction during the hosting of such audits as necessary with respect to Validation activities. To assist the Trust Quality Controller in the implementation of a harmonised validation approach within the Pharmaceutical Quality System. To design systems and protocols in a manner to optimise the utilisation of Newcastle Specials personnel time and facilities, identifying opportunities for process efficiencies and leading on their implementation. To evaluate and implement new equipment and technologies to improve capability or efficiency within Newcastle Specials. To deliver a comprehensive and responsive validation service to the RVI and Freeman sites. (Includes Clinical trial manufacture, Licensed Sterile and Non-sterile Manufacturing and Homecare Services) To undertake a key leadership role within the organisation, being visible and working closely with quality assurance, quality control managers, pharmacy business manager, senior production staff, and clinical trials team to lead validation processes. Creates URS (User requirement specifications) to reflect current regulatory requirements when looking to source equipment and/or services understand their requirements, defining project plans to ensure timely delivery of manufacturing and analytical requirements. Lead in the development, implementation and monitoring of validation practices through knowledge of National and local policies, protocols and guidelines. Prepare reports as required to demonstrate new product development progress and process improvement outcomes to increase portfolio of high-quality pharmaceutical products for the needs of our patients and customers. Work closely with the Trust Quality Controller to manage the validation processes. In this role, you are accountable for: Providing direct support and expert guidance to the VDPS administrative team to ensure processes are designed and implemented effectively in line with the requirement of the scheme, current policy and legislation. Delivering training to the internal teams and third-party medical assessors as required. Supporting the appeals and tribunals process, including preparation of appropriate materials, witness statements, identification and instruction of appropriate medical experts and attendance as required. Ensuring complex cases are appropriately identified and managed in a timely manner. Provide expert VDPS advice and guidance to a range of internal and external stakeholders. Supporting effective case management in an understanding manner. This will often include detail of cases that are emotionally sensitive and potentially distressing. Determining suitable evidence, including medical reports, clinical information and supporting material that is required to conduct an effective assessment and providing guidance on this. Ensuring assessments are thorough and consider all facts of each case appropriately and in a consistent manner so that outcomes are fair and appropriate payments are made in line the specific assessment criteria of the Vaccine Damage Payments Act. This on occasion will require the conducting of medical assessments and deep dive assurance investigations of third-party medical assessments. In collaboration with the Head of Professional & Clinical Services, ensuring effective processes and reporting are in place to meet the requirements of the NHSBSA Clinical governance framework. Delivery of well-designed activities to provide assurance that VDPS third party medical assessments are undertaken appropriately by qualified and trained professionals, assessments are of the required quality standard and are conducted in a consistent and professional manner to deliver appropriate outcomes. 10. Review and advise NHSBSA on the effectiveness of the VDPS medical assessment process and make recommendations for improvement where appropriate. Designing and undertaking audits to verify medical assessment processes are being followed, the key facts of the case are considered, and the quality and content of the outcome reports are to the required standard. This will involve determining the level of the sample based on risk factors. Using outputs from assurance activities to inform third party contract service provision reviews and contractual sanctions, which include financial penalties, where required. Establishing routine monitoring of Issues, challenges, learning from appeals/reversals, complaints, and any operational changes. Identifying and sharing, internally and with third party medical assessors, as appropriate, the learning from appeals, reversals, and complaints to ensure continuous development of the service and quality improvement and to monitor adoption of that learning. Ensuring checks are in place to verify suitably qualified and experienced medical assessors are recruited and adequate training and accreditation programme, with supporting training materials, is in place. Ensuring suitable medical assessment operating procedures are in place with appropriate reviews and quality controls. Reviewing and monitoring third party medical assessment supplier arrangements for supervising and mentoring new and existing assessors, peer reviews, audit processes and clinical governance strategy and framework to ensure they are robust and meet NHSBSA Clinical Governance Framework standards. In collaboration with Head of Professional & Clinical Services ensuring mechanisms are in place so that the latest recognised scientific evidence is understood and referenced for the medical assessments. Designing and implementing a feedback mechanism to the medical assessors and review how effective this feedback is used. Ensuring an effective mechanism is in place to identify and implement improvement opportunities. Delivering overview sessions with medical assessors as required to highlight good practice and standards expected. Building effective professional relationships and networks to ensure appropriate alignment and development of the service with the wider health and care system and the consensus of medical opinion. Represent the NHSBSA at meetings with external customers (eg. DHSC, HMCTS, third party medical assessor) and take opportunities to enhance the profile and promote the reputation of the NHSBSA and its services.
