As the designated Level IV northeastern New York (NENY) Regional Perinatal Center (RPC), Albany Medical Center provides transport and consultation services to all birthing hospitals in a 25-county area of northeastern New York and western New England, and is responsible to provide quality oversight to each affiliate hospital within the region. The RN Regional Quality Specialist works collaboratively with the RPC team and each hospital team to support quality improvement and improve maternal and neonatal outcomes for birthing families.
Salary range: $65,057.00-107,343.00 annually
- Works with Perinatal Outreach team to provide quality oversight to regional affiliate hospitals. Works with affiliate hospital medical, nursing, and quality management staff to identify, develop, and implement perinatal quality improvement initiatives.
- Participates with Perinatal Outreach team in site visit process to affiliate hospitals. Responsibilities include maternal and neonatal case review/preparation, assisting with agenda development, shared facilitation of agenda, identification of opportunities, and follow-up correspondence/support.
- Works with obstetrical and neonatal medical and nursing staff at the RPC to follow maternal and neonatal transports admitted to RPC. Assist with communication to referring obstetrician/pediatrician on status of patient as needed. Assures follow-up and closure of all referrals and issues.
- Serves as a resource to affiliate hospitals and community programs on issues related to perinatal clinical policy/protocol, perinatal quality improvement, and perinatal data. Collaborates with CNS-NPs in Obstetrics and Neonatology at the RPC to support these needs.
- Works with Perinatal Outreach team, including Regional Data Coordinator, in perinatal data review, analysis, and presentation. Serves as a resource/support to RPC staff and regional committees that review and use perinatal data.
- Works/collaborates to support Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement activities and needs of Albany Medical Center as RPC and is a member of related internal quality improvement teams.
- Works with Perinatal Outreach team to identify perinatal educational needs in the region and serves as a resource/support in developing regional educational plan/programs.
- Collaborates with other professional state and local perinatal programs and associations, representing Albany Medical Center and the region.
- Coordinator for Albany Med childbirth education classes.
Qualifications:
Registered Nurse with clinical experience in Obstetric and/or Neonatal Nursing required. Masters degree preferred, bachelor's degree required. Hybrid eligible after orientation period.
