How Do We Pay:

Job Function Summary

Develops revenue requirement for general rate cases and ensures pricing structure reflects the rates the company is authorized to collect and that support company operations. Is an expert in the area of cost of capital with experience performing discounted cash flow analysis for regulated utilities. Provides advocacy at the Public Utility Commission in contested matters with multiple external stakeholders that have alternative (often adverse) policy goals and competing analyses. The advocacy includes providing testimony, comments, data responses and negotiating to settlements acceptable to the company. Undertakes compliance reporting to the regulator on a variety of issues. Develops, analyzes, revises and administers the company’s retail tariff. Researches and compiles studies to assess the effectiveness of current tariff and regulatory approaches; when appropriate, develops proposals to change them. Provides internal regulatory consulting to other departments on strategy and tactics. Maintains relationships with regulators related to rate cases and other filings. Informs and executes regulatory strategy. Provides internal consulting on regulatory strategy and impacts on business matters.

Senior Energy Supply Procurement Originator

Origination & Structuring Leads commercial and strategic approach for maximizing value and effectively managing risks associated with PGE’s power supply portfolio. Develops structured proposals for deals involving any combination of energy (electric, gas and services) that provide mid- to long-term strategies for fueling power plants and effectively managing power supply portfolio. Develops models and market strategies to assess economic value and price risks inherent in complex transactions and negotiations across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities

• Wholesale Transmission Portfolio Management - Manages the PGE Merchant wholesale transmission portfolio. Monitors evolving policy arenas - including BPA and WRAP - for changes that could impact PGE's wholesale power portfolio. Supports PGE's WRAP efforts by providing SME assistance and expertise.

• Energy/Risk Management Products and Strategies - Designs, markets and implements structured energy and risk management products and strategies to reduce costs, optimize assets and reduce risks associated with PGE's resource portfolio and wholesale market activities; ensures risks and benefits of structured products are identified, priced and allocated.

• New Energy Resources Contracting - Evaluates and negotiates transactions to acquire new energy resources, contracts and infrastructure; supports the competitive bidding process and other procurement activities to acquire long-term resources; ensures that contract terms and conditions meet PGE's commercial, operational and risk-mitigation requirements.

• Market Analysis - Identifies and assesses potential changing market dynamics or fundamental drivers that could impact price or availability of fuel and related assets.

• Outbound Marketing - Conducts outbound marketing to develop positive commercial relationships and opportunities with counterparties in the wholesale energy markets; identifies opportunities for bilateral partnerships, contracts and asset transactions.

• External Relations - Represents PGE in the wholesale markets; participates in industry forums and conferences; represents PGE’s interests in regulatory and rate case proceedings.

Education/Experience/Certifications

Education: Requires a bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, computer science, mathematics, engineering or other related field or equivalent experience. An MBA or MS in finance, economics or related financial discipline preferred.
