Job Responsibility

• This position is rotational based on the assigned area of responsibilities, providing an opportunity to gain a comprehensive understanding of various roles and operations.

Customer Service

• Welcome visitors, provide information and answer questions to enhance their understanding and enjoyment of the centre.
• Assist visitors with interactive activities, ensure the materials are functioning correctly, and provide demonstrations when necessary.
• Handle visitor inquiries, feedback, and complaints professionally and efficiently.

Workshop and Education

• Teaching and engage with participants to ensure an enjoyable and informative experience during the workshop session.
• Collaborate with the educational team to ensure content aligns with the company educational goals.

Bricks/Sculpture Maintenance

• Perform routine cleaning of sculptures as required.
• Assist in maintenance work for sculptures that requires minor maintenance.

Program and Event

• Assist in the coordination and delivery of special events and programs at the centre.
• Use effective communication to inform guests of event schedules and activity details.

Safety and Administration

• Monitor the safety of visitors and assign area, report any issues or malfunctions, and assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment.
• Prepare and carry out daily opening and closing of the centre.

Job Requirements

• SPM/STPM, Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree
• Good in BM and English language
• Ability to engage with visitors of all ages and backgrounds.
• Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
• Physical ability to stand for long periods, walk, and assist guests with physical activities.

As the Laborer,:

• The incumbent performs a variety of laborer duties that involve handling, moving, and controlling heavy powered cleaning equipment and performing minor equipment maintenance. 
• The incumbent moves items which may weigh more than 80 pounds (such as office equipment, tables, chairs, furniture, and supplies).
• The work includes the set up and tear down of special events, by moving and rearranging furniture and equipment to support concerts, luncheons, dinners, receptions, educational programs, training classes, meetings, and other related activities that may be time sensitive in nature, with high demands to accomplish work at a hectic pace, on very short notice. 
• Works on ladders, manlifts and scaffolds to clean high reaching items such as walls, venetian blinds, light lenses, ledges, and architectural moldings. 
• The incumbent operates commercial grade floor cleaning equipment to properly sustain all the different floor surfaces throughout the Gallery.
• Inspects and provides daily upkeep and routine maintenance of the said equipment. 
• Completes assigned work and sequence of tasks within the time framework of a schedule, which states the required frequency of each task. 
• Performs the full range of cleaning duties with minimal instruction. 
• Empties trash and cleans trash receptacles in the offices, and common areas throughout the Gallery. 
• The incumbent assists with inventory control and stocks storage closets with housekeeping supplies such as toilet tissues, paper towels, soaps, cleaning materials. 
• In common areas, and shops, keeps the area clean and in order. 
• During inclement weather, may assist with snow removal operations by clearing snow and ice from sidewalks, steps, entrances, driveways, pavilion, and the plaza when needed.   
• The incumbent assists other departments in a laborer capacity when needed. 
• Uses computers and software applications, phones, radios, to communicate throughout the day.

As the Visual Information Specialist you will:

• Makes digital images of two and three-dimensional works of art using direct digital capture. Work is usually performed in a photographic studio, but also occasionally in off-site locations. The incumbent needs to use a variety of digital cameras, lenses and lighting equipment and is expected to apply wide professional knowledge and experience to achieve the highest quality images.
• The incumbent, in consultation with the Production Manager and Head of Imaging, coordinates routine and special imaging projects, provides mentoring, direction, and advises junior imaging staff on the best application of technique, proper use of equipment, and appropriate viewing/lighting conditions for imaging. Supports junior staff to ensure all imaging created across the department aligns with the quality standards set forth by the Head of Imaging Dept.
• Communicates workflow and system inconsistencies to the Head of Imaging and performs basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting. Schedules and coordinates the testing of Imaging software and photographic equipment with Color Scientist as required to ensure proper quality control. Acts as mentor and partner for select photography staff within PDE-I to deepen their knowledge and experience with advanced Imaging practice and technique. Shares their comprehensive knowledge of and skill in applying photogrammetry and other imaging techniques to works of art. Ability to choose the right lighting equipment, related computer software, imaging/scanning equipment, lens elements, and appropriate filters.

MAJOR TASKS/JOB ACTIVITIES

• To empty litter and recycling bins.
• The cleaning of all surfaces, internal glass, floors, furniture, fixtures and fittings within a group of buildings.
• The cleaning of all sanitary areas, toilets and showers and the replenishment of washroom consumables.
• Emergency and re-active cleaning as required, e.g. removal of graffiti, body fluid spillages, accidental spillages.
• The care and cleanliness of all equipment used in carrying out the above duties.
• Other tasks as may reasonably be required that relate to the role, including supporting cleaning tasks across other buildings where required.

*Facilities Management has overall responsibility for keyholding to enable opening and closing of buildings that we service. As part of the duties of a Cleaning Operative and in this particular role, you will be required to be a key holder to fulfil these tasks. This typically would include operation of security alarm systems when opening a building, closing accessible windows and doors, switching off lights and ensuring that premises are left safe and secure when closing.

Glasgow School of Art (GSA) are seeking to appoint an Assistant Residential Accommodation Manager to join GSA Halls of Residence Accommodation Team. This is a new post which will play a key role on building our halls offering to accommodate new GSA students. This includes developing a variety of housing and supporting our residents within our communities.

The post holder will be expected to participate with the provision and running of the halls including: providing professional reception and administrative support, day to day running of sites within the halls portfolio with a view to maintaining good HMO standards, keeping the halls fresh and developing with our customer in mind. There does require to be a degree of flexibility in terms of site attendance across the variety of locations we manage, however this role is based in Glasgow.
