Major duties include, but are not limited to:

• Operates and unloads two 400-pound washer/extractors, one 200-pound washer extractor and two 85-pound washer extractor.
• Loads and operates two 200-pound dryers and one 100-pound dryer, utilizing the overhead rail system.
• Cleans all dryer lint screens and canisters routinely, thus reducing energy consumption.
• Receives, weighs and records bulk soiled linen from hospital and three contract suppliers.
• Weighs and sorts soiled linen using the automated sorting system.
• Places soiled linen on the overhead rail system by using the pneumatic controls on the lift station.
• Occasionally performs dyeing and stain removal.
• Does manual and automatic loads of fabric requiring special handling such as fiberglass, mops, dust mops, plastics, uniforms, nomex, and other materials.
• Operates a diesel or gasoline powered vehicle equipped with either an automatic or a ten-speed transmission and a hydraulic lift. Vehicle has a gross weight of 12,880 pounds and is capable of carrying loads weighing up to 7,000 pounds.
• Gathers, assembles, consolidates and lifts bags of soiled linen into carts at all souled linen collection areas within the Medical Center.
• Loads carts of clean linen onto the truck at the clean laundry dock, delivers these carts to all linen distribution points and returns all empty linen carts to the laundry for restocking.
• Adheres to established delivery schedules and time frames when completing deliveries.
• Performs routine cleaning and maintenance on vehicle and equipment and reports other maintenance or repair needs to the Textile Care Manager or Work Leader.
• Required to assume the duties of a laundry worker, so that all hospital needs can be met on a timely basis.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Incumbent will perform a variety of work involving the operation of motor vehicles in support of the maintenance and repair of roadsides including roads, culverts, bridges, guardrails, etc. Operate diesel and gasoline powered motor vehicles and heavy equipment which typically have a gross vehicle weight of more than 26,000 pounds and up to 32,000 pounds; vehicles are usually equipped with air brakes. Operate vehicles, including dump trucks and trash truck, in all kinds of weather over rough terrain, in close quarters, and in heavy traffic. Duties include crack sealing, asphalt patching, refuse/recycling collection, transporting material, and loading trucks with front end loader and/or backhoe. Operate tractors with attached flail and sickle bar mowers to cut grass and brush on shoulders, ditches, and cut banks alongside park roads. Perform operator maintenance on all vehicles operated according to manufacturer and park standards. Complete minor repairs and preventive maintenance of equipment. Perform manual labor tasks such as digging, raking, cleaning drainage ditches, picking up litter, etc.

The selectee receives oral and written instructions from the General Maintenance Supervisor and is responsible for safely and efficiently carrying out the assigned duties and completing daily work reports. The selectee operates and maintains equipment and vehicles with gross vehicle weights up to 23,000 pounds in order to haul equipment, personnel, fence posts, tools, and related materials to work sites. Selectee also digs holes, mixes and pours concrete, cleans culverts, installs drainage pipe and culverts. Removes deteriorated posts and wire. Uses and instructs laborers in the use of hand tools such as hammers, rakes, shovels, post hole diggers, wire stretchers, axes, saws, and wrenches. Operates a tractor, post hole digger, rollers, tampers, and pressure washers. This position requires heavy physical effort to haul materials and equipment to work locations. Selectee will frequently lift and carry items weighing up to 100 pounds, continually walking, bending, stooping, reaching, pulling and pushing. The work is primarily outdoors and may be in temperatures up to 100 plus degrees. Work is performed in backcountry terrain that is uneven, steep, and rocky. As needed, the selectee may also work as a flagman on road projects, picking up litter, digging ditches, and loading/unloading supplies, furniture, mow lawns, re seed roadsides, repair trails and assist with building maintenance. Must be able to operate gasoline and diesel powered equipment including rotary self-propelled mowers, brooms, weed trimmers, chain saws, jackhammers, dump trucks (with and without trailers), tractors, rollers, snow plows and compactor equipment.

• Works with EMS on a daily basis to take local ambulance calls (911, local) to transport patients to local hospital for emergency services, transport responds with EMS on all calls.
• Assigned as a driver to assist EMS and bring patients safely to the hospital, transport patients by ambulance to other facilities for emergent transport and appointments, and follows all safety rules, regulations, and traffic signs, driving carefully and avoiding rough terrain and hazardous roads and grounds to prevent discomfort or injury to passengers and damage to vehicle.
• Cleans and disinfects patient rooms, exam rooms, lab, pharmacy, dental areas, optometry, physical, occupational therapy areas, offices, and outpatient area as well as bathrooms, storerooms, employee coffee rooms, drinking fountains and all other public use areas.
