About the Position

The Student Success Coach plays a pivotal role in guiding and empowering students to achieve their full potential within the courses offered by the College of Vocational Education. Working directly with students across a range of programs, this role will employ specialist learning strategies and develop appropriate learning activities to support students to meet course learning outcomes. The Student Success Coach will be required to work collaboratively in a team-teaching situation with vocational teachers when providing specialist support to students with Language, Literacy and Numeracy needs.

This role will be based in Singapore Design Center. As be part of the HP Personal System Global R&D team, this design center will focus on NB/PC products.

The responsibilities will include

• Work with internal cross functional team members including ME, Thermal, RF, ID, and product management to design new products and form factors

Job Overview

Georgetown University is seeking an MDI System Administrator to help continue to develop and support the Massive Data Institute (MDI) infrastructure.  Their primary role setting up and maintaining big data infrastructure components on Google Cloud, Amazon Web Services, and Microsoft Azure; setting up and managing accounts; and helping MDI faculty run analyzes on these systems.

We will also create an on-campus GPU cluster that the Administrator will maintain.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Administering systems and applications, big data environment, and systems built on cloud infrastructure like Azure, AWS and Google
• Developing on-campus GPU compute facility
• Evaluating system problems of workflow, organization, and planning and develops appropriate corrective action
• Assist in the formulation of technical strategies and processes for administered systems
• Provide support to faculty working groups using the MDI infrastructure

Work Interactions

The MDI System Administrator supports use of MDI computing facilities for faculty across campus interested in using MDI’s computing infrastructure for interdisciplinary research.

Reporting to the MDI Director, they work with the new hire to maintain and extend the infrastructure, assuring they learn all of our existing protocols and work with faculty and graduate students to help them use the MDI computing environment. Currently, more than 30 faculty use the infrastructure.

As well, the Administrator supports the overall research mission of the university.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline – preference degree in an applicable system or an equivalent combination of education and technical certifications or training work experience with RedHat, Linux, Hadoop, and system administration

The Analytic Hosting Platform team is searching for a Cloud System Administrator to work within the Platform team and augment the existing platform team for a large analytic cloud repository. The platform team builds subject matter expertise and will have a primary focus supporting Accumulo. Additional knowledge of Linux OS development, Prometheus, Grafana, Kafka and CentOS would benefit the candidate. Ideal candidates would have familiarity with open-source products and be willing/able to learn new technologies.

These qualifications are a Requirement:

This candidate will perform systems administration work in a dynamic and operational environment supporting the cloud-based repositories. A successful candidate for this position has experience working with large Hadoop and Accumulo based clusters. Experience interfacing with hardware, software, security, and network teams would benefit the candidate as well as experience with Bash, Python, and configuration management tools such as Puppet. These repositories are used by thousands of Intelligence Community users which requires that the candidate have experience monitoring systems and resolving or escalating network and data flow alerts for cloud systems hardware, software or network problems. This opening requires the candidate to have experience as a linux system administrator for large Hadoop and Accumulo based clusters, a strong background in troubleshooting operational system issues as they arise, and strong Linux administration skills. This candidate will also be expected to be comfortable working in a high-tempo mission environment where requirements change on a daily basis due to operational and world events.
