The role will be £400 plus p/d Outside ir35 majority remote.

The job role includes:

• Create business and user value by undertaking complex software engineering programmes and projects which create, integrate, and enhance back office and customer-facing systems and solutions to improve performance and service delivery.
• Implement software development standards, mechanisms, frameworks, and processes to ensure that our in-house software development is of the highest quality, highly available, usable, and shareable by rigorous standard setting, testing and quality controls using the best of modern frameworks and using modern processes like test-driven development and pair programming.
• Develop quality code for the build and deployment of contact centres, working to standards alongside an experienced team
• Confidently work with AWS Key Features:
  Amazon Connect, Lex (Voicebots), DynamoDB, S3, Contact Flows, IAM, Cloudwatch, CloudFormation
• Develop using Python and other languages
• Work with Terraform for reusable builds
• Proficiency in writing Lambda functions using Node.js
• Build and maintain integrations with external systems using APIs
• Use best practices such as TDD, CI/CD, and Pair Programming in an agile development environment
• Create, contribute to, and update technical documentation
• Work with clients to share learning on build and integrations
• Understand core security principles

Your new role

Working under the remit of the Head of Data Engineering as part of the Digital Directorate, the Data Engineers will be key members of the Data Engineering team working primarily on day to day ETL operations, as well as working with the wider Performance Team and Digital Team to meet the data management needs of the Trust.

As a Data Engineer you will be fundamental in developing and constructing data models for our services data warehousing needs as well as integrating them into systems and business processes to support self-serve reporting, compliance reporting and third-party data integrations.
You will provide specialist advice across a range of IM&T areas e.g. applications, information interpretation, data analysis, information reporting, information governance.

What you'll need to succeed

As an experienced Data professional with proven skills of managing and maintaining a data warehouse within a large organisation, you will have expertise in writing ETL scripts and code and ensuring that the ETL process performs optimally. The role requirement will involve implementing data flows to connect operational systems, data for analytics and business intelligence (BI) systems.

A key responsibility will be to re-engineer manual data flows to enable scaling and repeatable use in an automated way and to support the build of data streaming systems. You should have a thorough understanding of the concepts and principles of data modelling and metadata management, and you will need to be able to design, code and execute test scripts to support ETL processes defined within our platforms.

You should possess strong in-depth knowledge of Database Administration with MSSQL Server and expert knowledge of Microsoft Azure / AWS Platforms (Specifically Cloud Storage, Compute and Databases).

Applicants should have demonstrable experience in the following essential and desirable skills:
Essential:

Python 3.x with pandas, numpy, sqlalchemy, argparse and logging as a minimum
MS SQL Server (2019 and later)

Desirable:

Linux server technologies (Redhat 8+, Ubuntu 22.04+)
Qlik Data Movement Gateway (linux based)
Airflow orchestration across multiple technologies (e.g. powershell, python, t-sql) and server types (windows and linux, plus SQL server databases)
Airbyte data movement, including API driven data loading pipelines to dynamically construct the airbyte flows based on metadata concerning the data sources and destinations
Qlik Data Movement Gateway (linux based)
Qlik Cloud / Qlik Sense Data Architecture certification

You'll need to have a proactive approach to sourcing additional opportunities or work on sites and sources and provide required information for quotes. You'll also monitor visiting sub-contractors with regards to standard of work and Health and Safety and issue appropriate permits, control small works and escort duties as required.The ideal candidate will be Qualified to City & Guilds Level II/III or equivalent in relevant disciplines to role. Have experience of maintenance, testing & fault-finding on a variety of equipment: Including, boiler plant, ventilation, pumps, generators, switchgear, cables, batteries, small power and lighting (where applicable), Knowledge of Health & Safety and safe working practices.

Your new role
In your new role, you will be responsible for providing day-to-day IT support to multiple sites, whilst providing both hardware and software maintenance to all stakeholders, whilst ensuring equipment is set up when necessary. You will be assisting the secure and safe setup/installation of new equipment, software, hardware, upgrades, and components.

You will be maintaining standard network cabling including performing basic diagnostic and recovery routines on network equipment, whilst assisting the diagnosis and resolution of basic PC, printer, and software faults, including maintenance of software applications. You will be supporting the organisation's 'cloud first' mindset by furthering your education of Cloud platforms and their benefits.
