As a Human Resources Assistant (Military), GS-0203-07, you will plan, organize, and administer the military personnel program for the organization. Serves as the technical expert on a variety of administrative matters (e.g. format for directives and standing operating procedures, general office procedures, filing systems, reference libraries, etc.). Provide authoritative advice and guidance to the commander and his staff pertaining to military personnel administration. Keeps abreast and ensures the implementation of new policy statements, regulations and directives issued by higher headquarters concerning personnel and administrative activities. Develop guidelines and operational procedures to implement changes to policies and programs directed by higher headquarters. Researches and resolves the most difficult military personnel problems and questions, including those where regulation is only partially relevant or is incomplete.

As a HUMAN RESOURCES ASSISTANT (MILITARY) (TITLE 32), GS-0203-5/7, you will serve as a final reviewer and/or processor of actions, which may include but are not limited to: accessions, discharges/separations, promotions, awards, reductions, transfers, boards, Non-Commissioned Officer Evaluation Reports (NCOERs), Office Evaluation Reports (OERs), promotion eligibility, Simultaneous Membership Program (SMP), discharges, waivers, award/withdraw, Military Occupational Specialty (MOS), retirement eligibility, iPERMS, RCAS, eMILPO, SIDPERS, DJMS, DMDC, CAC Automation,TAPDB-G, DSRO, and any additional or emerging systems that support personnel management and actions that affect eligibility of educational or incentive benefits as well as sensitive, complex cases, which involve: Allegations of inequitable, prejudiced, or similar treatment (e.g. issues of fraudulent enlistment or assignment; removal of military member from active or inactive status). Participates in unit Soldier Readiness Processing (SRP) for those units whose service members are being mobilized to active duty. Performs personnel and administrative actions related to deployment manning documents. Supports reorganization/activation/deactivation. Reviews and processes requests for retention beyond mandatory removal date and evaluation reports.

The Lead Medical Support Assistant (LMSA) in V16 Clinical Resource Hub is assigned to the Central Arkansas Veterans Healthcare System, Little Rock, Arkansas. The LMSA will normally work at the HUB located on 900 South Shackelford Road, Little Rock, AR or remotely. The LMSA Performs duties related to the receipt, intake and indexing of health and administrative information and will interface with personal computer (PC) applications as well as numerous Vista applications. The LMSA monitors and makes work assignments, provides input on performance, resolves daily workplace issues and maintains efficient workflow.

The primary duties of the Lead Medical Support Assistant (LMSA) may include but are not limited to:

• Assuring coverage of all areas of responsibility.

4. Serves as the organizational point of contact and liaison with the force support flight/squadron on military and civilian personnel issues.

• The responsibilities described are for the full performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope performed with less independence, and limited complexity.
• The incumbent will be assigned to one of the following branches within the Human Resources Operations Center: Recruitment and Placement, Benefits and Retirement, Processing/Records, and/or Classification.
• Responsible for the pre-employment process to include extending tentative job offers, initiating and tracking drug testing and medical reviews, establishing start dates, and responding accordingly to inquiries while providing continual HR support.
• Researches and applies laws, regulations, policies, and precedents of Federal employee retirement, group life insurance, health benefits, and Thrift Savings Plan programs to provide advice and guidance to management, employees, and beneficiaries.
• Responsible for processing personnel and payroll actions to include coding, calculation of service computation dates, within-grade increases, pay adjustments, system errors, and accessions and separations into the National Finance Center (NFC).
• Reviews requests for personnel actions for accurate information and data integrity; responsible for periodic quality reviews and ensures personnel actions are processed within established timelines.

• Performs the full range of tasks for assigned areas such as assignment, enlistment, reenlistment, promotion, awards, performance evaluation, routine boards, separation, or similar actions and performs a substantive review of records to determine eligibility for actions
• Serves as a technical authority on all elements of active duty military personnel specialties and reviews reports, forms, documentation, and other related information concerning Air Force members and reviews/constructs/maintains military personnel records on all assigned areas

- Ensures the timely accomplishment of assigned tasks and ensures that each employee has enough work to keep busy. Monitors the status and progress of work and makes day-to-day adjustments in accordance with established priorities.
