Position Purpose Statement:
As a Financial Accountant within the Private Business Advisory team, your role will involve close collaboration with clients and providing support for their day-to-day business operations and advisory needs. You will be responsible for preparing periodic management reports, year-end financial reports, financial budgets, and cash flow forecasts. Strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate financial results to both senior reviewers and clients are essential. Additionally, you will be involved in taxation compliance, tax planning, and general business advisory.
Position Focus Area:
• Preparation of financial statements and tax returns (annual)
• Compliance BAS and IAS – preparation/review
• Set up and Maintenance of cloud-based accounting software
• Accounting, Tax, and general Business Advisory
Position Key Responsibility Areas:
• Understand corporate structures (e.g., trusts, companies, partnerships)
• Analyze and interpret information to prepare and review financial statements
• Present workpapers/files clearly and logically
• Ensure detailed checking of financial statements before manager or director review
• Conduct financial statement analysis and explain key matters and assumptions
• Engage in conversations with managers/clients during financial accounts preparation
• Complete financial statements efficiently within expected timelines
• Delegate and supervise junior staff
• Maintain tax files, including documentation and checklists
• Navigate and utilize the ATO Portal effectively
• Prepare year-end income estimates based on client-provided information
Essential Qualifications:
• Tertiary qualification in accounting (or similar)
• CA or CPA qualification or equivalent
• At least 2 years work experience
Critical Knowledge - Technical:
• IFRS Accounting standards
• Accounting software such as Xero, Microsoft Dynamic’s 365
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills
Required Skills:
• High level of technical accounting knowledge
• Prior experience in accounting firms or advisory (large or small)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
