Applications are invited for a locum replacement Consultant Cellular Pathologist / Histopathologist post in the Department of Cellular Pathology at Barts Health NHS Trust. The appointment is to provide Histopathology reporting within Gynaecological Pathology for Barts Health and the other hospitals for which we undertake service provision. An exciting opportunity has arisen in Blood Sciences within the NHS East and South East London Pathology Partnership (ESEL). A complex transformation programme is concluding to establish a single, integrated pathology network between 7 hospital laboratories.The aspired ‘hub and spoke’ operating model is centred at The Royal London Hospital (RLH); a busy major trauma centre which hosts the London Air Ambulance, and connects to essential service laboratories supporting various clinical specialities at our partnered hospital sites.

We are looking for a team of medical laboratory assistants to support the provision of our 24/7 service 7 days a week. The role will deliver a hybrid function of specimen reception and laboratory duties for Haematology, Blood Transfusion and Infection divisions. In collaboration with the PBS team support services in training and implementation of individual PBS plans and interventions. Initiate, lead or participate in the planning, implementation and evaluation of needs led innovations within the region e.g., training packages, policy development. Ensure services are delivering person centre care as evidence by measurable clinical outcomes. Promote positive health care and maintenance of good health, through the education of clients and their families/carers. Participate in the setting, auditing and maintenance of standards, intended to improve resident care and service provision. Provide clinical expertise to individuals with more complex health needs. Provide clinical input and advice on health promotion/education and the prevention and minimisation of disability that promotes continuity of care and enables the achievement of resident focused goals. Comply and work within agreed protocols and practices, policies and procedures. Contribute to developing and reviewing current policies and procedures in conjunction with other colleagues. Key activities of the post holder will be to: Act as a specialist practitioner and role model and manage the day to day pharmaceutical care of cystic fibrosis patients. Participate regularly in multidisciplinary ward rounds and outpatient review meetings delivering and promoting high quality, cost effective, patient focussed care. Participate in clinical audit and research, risk management and clinical guideline development. Liaise with homecare delivery companies, pharmacy medicines finance team, shared care hospitals and patients and their carers to ensure timely, safe and cost effective clinically appropriate medication supply. Provide education and training to pharmacists and other healthcare professionals within and outside the Trust relating to medicines use in CF.
