An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lead Nurse – Digital Medicines at BCHC. The nurse will aid in the delivery of electronic prescribing and medicines administration (ePMA). We a looking to find an exceptional nurse to join our Digital Medicines EPMA team. The nurse applying for this position should enjoy the challenge of not only engaging with clinical staff but also learning the technical processes. The role will include change management, clinical safety and risk management working along side the Lead Pharmacist for Digital Medicines to provide the continued high levels of care for our patients
The successful candidate will exercise professional accountability and responsibility using professional skills, knowledge and expertise in changing inpatient environments across professional boundaries and in unfamiliar situations. Engage with key stakeholders and plan service change(s) in relation to EPMA process and/or service re-design. Communicate, in the most appropriate manner, technical and non-technical information to staff and suppliers Convey information from experiences and clinical situations to the multi-disciplinary implementation team, contributing in all its' meetings and maintaining open communication. Work in the Digital Medicines Team to co-ordinate upgrade workflows, testing, reviews and updates of training and support resources and procedures, change management and issue management.

Main Duties1. Lead nursing input into the project.
2. Work as a registered Nurse within the Trust as and when suitable for the project.
3. Manage own workload in order to support the clinical information needs that enable the Trust to achieve goals described in the Medicines Optimisation strategy.
4. Act as the Trust appointed Lead Nurse for the ePMA project.
5. Advocate on behalf of and represent the project at relevant nursing meetings.
6. Provide training to clinical end users as the ePMA systems is prepared to go live in their areas.
7. Enable clinical end users to adopt ePMA into agreed work flows by providing go live support.
8. Maintain the ePMA system providing nursing input throughout the life of the system.
9. Provide specialist support for the system out of hours to Consultants and their Teams, Nursing staff, Midwifery staff, Pharmacy staff and health professionals where appropriate.
10. Be flexible and reliable, particularly during system implementation phases when training and supporting staff (working hours will include late shifts, night duties and weekends).
11. To ensure requirements are considered and include the needs of all clinical professionals, work closely with Nurses, Midwives, Doctors, HCAs and AHPs to gather and understand their and the patients’ needs.
12. Lead nursing input into the implementation and roll-out of the ePMA project across the Trust, under the guidance of the Lead Pharmacist and relevant Project Boards.
13. Enable better and more efficient care through the development of future state process by understanding the ePMA system and existing paper based workflows.
14. Propose options and provide expert recommendations pertaining to implementation of the ePMA system by assessing and judging complex facts, processes and protocols.
15. Demonstrate individual system expertise in order to be capable of supporting the configuration and testing of the ePMA system and including but not limited to other systems within the remit of the Clinical Systems Team.
16. Analyse, interpret and compare system functionalities and working process options in order to determine the best fit for system implementation.
17. Regularly provide ePMA system training to Nurses, Midwives, Doctors, Healthcare Assistants and Allied Health Professionals.
18. Supervise colleagues and receiving and undertaking training and testing to ensure quality related quotas and deadlines are met adequately.
19. Participate in the development and planning of relevant ePMA user training programmes.
20. Provide clinical expertise, skills and agility to systematically address the effectiveness of care through the transformation of services, which will ultimately improve patient care and experience.
21. Undertake service improvement whilst working in Wards, Departments and Community Teams as required to support individual Nurses, Midwives, Doctors, Healthcare Assistants and Allied Health Professionals.
To undertake other duties commensurate with this grade of post in agreement with the relevant line manager.
To minimise the Trust’s environmental impact wherever possible, including recycling, switching off lights, computers, monitors and equipment when not in use. Helping to reduce paper waste by minimising printing/copying and reducing water usage, reporting faults and heating/cooling concerns promptly and minimising travel. Where the role includes the ordering and use of supplies or equipment the post holder will consider the environmental impact of purchases
