As a member of the Childrens Integrated Therapies Service, you will be expected to be a competent Occupational Therapist who is able to adapt to wide and varied caseload; carrying out therapy in a range of community-based settings across the borough for children and young people from 0-19 years of age. We are seeking a band 6 Rotational Occupational Therapist to join our friendly, integrated inpatient therapy department. The therapy department is the third largest staff group within the Trust and is widely respected. As a Rotational Occupational Therapist, you will play an essential part in the assessment, treatment, and discharge of patients. You will work closely with the patient, their support network, and Multidisciplinary colleagues to achieve a positive outcome.

The 9-month rotations include The Stroke Unit, Acute Older Adults, Frailty, The Acute Medical Unit and Medicine and Surgery Teams. Main Tasks and Responsibilities

Clinical

• To autonomously complete the OT process with patients including:
o Comprehensive assessment of need
o Provide individualised and specialised treatments to patients on your caseload, which will include a variety of physical, cognitive, and psychological conditions.
o Lead and facilitate on patient discharges with arranging package of care, providing equipment and community support.

• The OT process includes liaising with relatives, care givers and NOKs, providing updates regarding patients progress and discharge plans.

• To plan and implement individual and/or group interventions.

• To monitor, evaluate and modify treatment to ensure effectiveness of intervention.

• To assess for patients’ equipment needs. Once equipment needs are identified, order equipment in a timely fashion to facilitate discharge. Equipment risk assessments eg bed rail assessments and manual handling risk assessments are to be completed where appropriate to ensure patient safety.

• Provide document interventions accurately and within guidelines. Provide timely and accurate documentation to facilitate a smooth transfer of care to the community .

• Monitor, evaluate and modify interventions for patients to measure progress and ensure effectiveness of therapy. Use agreed outcome measures to document the effectiveness.

West London Targeted Lung Health Check started to recruit patients from October 2023. Patients registered at GP practices between the ages of 55 to 74 with a smoking history have been invited to attend for the lung health check. This is a rolling programme where the first phase comprised of three London boroughs, this has since increased to include additional London boroughs, therefore covering a larger population.

Lung cancer screening with CT has been implemented via numerous pilot projects across the UK. RM Partners, in collaboration with the Royal Brompton Hospital successfully implemented a pilot lung cancer CT screening project in West London in 2018-19 and continued until April 2024.

This post has been created to continue and expand this collaboration through the West London screening programme and has seen the introduction of three scan review meetings at three separate sites - Harefield Hospital, St Georges Hospital and Imperial College Healthcare Trust. There will be cross site working with all three sites in order to provide the leadership and governance needed for the programme to successfully develop further
