We are delighted to be able to offer an opportunity for a highly motivated, ambitious, dynamic individual to join our committed and well integrated multidisciplinary team, providing high standard care to the local community. This will be a full-time, substantive post (10 Programmed Activities)
Our Care of the Elderly services have been developed extensively over the last few years and have a vision of providing high quality Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment for all patients who require it. To achieve this, we have developed a new service at the front door in addition to our Care of the elderly/Frailty wards.
The CotE/Frailty team at RLI consists of 9 geriatricians who are based across 3 CotE wards/ an Acute Frailty Unit and who also in reach to the ED for a Frailty SDEC service, orthopaedics and link in with the frailty Virtual ward.

Application for this substantive post will only be accepted if youhold full GMC registration with a license to practice and entry on the Specialist Register or anticipating being in receipt of CCT/Professional Portfolio (formally CESR) within six months of interview.
The post holder will rotate between ward work and the Frailty SDEC to support our frailty and older patients coming to the ED department.
Both roles are working within a multi-disciplinary team with support by a consultant physician geriatrician, ACP, junior doctor team and an experienced ward nursing team.
The role will include medical assessment and triage of medical admissions, along with ongoing management, organising investigations and treatment planning for patients with a range of illness and complex rehab needs. You will practice across inpatient wards and emergency department and contribute to the provision of a high-quality service.
You will be expected to actively engage in meetings for improvement of service.
You will ensure that all clinical activity is recorded accurately and comprehensively and submitted via the clinical system (currently Lorenzo.)
The post holder will be required to manage their own time effectively and flexibly as required in working across the clinical pathway.
We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
