• Assists the PNC Branch Director in development of the 52-week Practical Nurse Course Program of Instruction (POI) (curriculum).
• Evaluates existing curriculum to ensure the most updated information is included.

The Primary Purpose of the Position is: Supervises a complexity index group 1 laboratory or in a complexity index group 2 laboratory that performs at least 1 million Standard Billable Tests annually (reported to the Laboratory Management Index Program) having one GS-11 subordinate to the supervisor.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Performs the full range of supervisory duties. Recommends appointment, plans, and assigns work; gives advice and counsel; evaluates work of subordinates.
• Monitors test analyses and specimen examinations to ensure acceptable levels of performance and initiate corrective action.
• Verifies orientation, training and competency assessment of assigned staff.
• Develops and updates technical policies and procedure manuals.
• Ensures all staff and affiliate staff are in compliance with accrediting and regulating bodies.
• Adjusts staffing levels or work procedures to accommodate resource allocation decisions made at the executive level
• Assures corrective action is initiated when test performance deviates from established performance specifications.
• Develops policies and procedures, manages document control, develops performance standards, position descriptions, and functional statements.
• Responsible for professional and administrative management of assigned areas, to include budget execution, supplies, and other resources.
• Maintain effective interdepartmental relations with other services to accomplish medical center goals.

This position serves as a senior position in support of HPE training programs and compliance with Office of Academic Affiliations (OAA), regulatory, accreditation and other applicable requirements
Duties include, but may not be limited to the following:

• Perform a wide range of programmatic and operational functions for the HPE Office.
• Oversee all functions related to the administration of HPE funding, accreditation, appointment process, and affiliate relationships in accordance with VHA directives, handbooks, policies, memos, and notices.
• Play an active and influential role in day-to-day medical facility policymaking, planning and decision making.
• Serve as the technical and subject matter expert (SME) for HPE programs to include undergraduate and graduate medical and dental education, nursing, associated health, and advanced fellows.
• Work collaboratively with leadership to identify and/or implement best practices and advising on program and policy requirements pertaining to HPE programs.
• Assure that administrative, clinical programs and policies are integrated to meet the unique need of interprofessional HPTs and patients they serve.
• Assist in identifying budget needs and negotiates with management to arrive at appropriate funding levels that make the most effective use of resources in accomplishing VA's academic and HPE missions.
• Provide oversight, direction, guidance, and technical expertise to ensure compliance programs are in place for OAA HPE programs.
• Create and maintaining a functional communication system and promotes an understanding between HPTs, faculty, employees, and Veterans regarding HPE mission and programs.
• Represent the Designated Education Officer (DEO) and HPE Office in formal speaking engagements at facility meetings with the affiliate or at public relations events.
• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as necessary.

Plans, coordinates, and manages all administrative, operational, and fiscal aspects of Fitness Center facility as assigned by the Fitness and Sports director. Performs all personnel management functions for assigned facility. Assists with the management of all aspects of the base adult fitness program to include all core fitness activities, enhanced programs and instructor contracts. Establishes an annual fitness plan for all training, fitness classes, incentive programs, and special events. Oversees all fitness contracts and ensures payments are made in accordance with the contract and Air Force guidance. Manages all core activity offerings and schedules and periodically reviews programs to ensure activities are meeting AFI requirements and customer needs. Ensures all activities adhere to safe exercise principles. Assists with the management of the Fitness Improvement Programs (FIP) in coordination with the Health and Wellness Center (HAWC). Establishes appropriate exercise classes for those individuals on the Air Force FIP. Works in conjunction with the Sports Program Manager to administer and oversee the installation sports programs. Monitors sports competitions conducted in assigned facility. Conducts regular inspections of equipment for proper preventative maintenance practices. Assists in budget planning for initial equipment purchases or replacements. Conducts ongoing training for customers and staff on proper usage of fitness equipment. Assures fitness equipment areas have supervision/monitoring during peak usage hours. Assists with planning and scheduling of intramural sports and championships as needed. Supervises NF-0189-1, Recreation Aids. Determines performance standards and evaluates the performance of employees. Determines training needs, approves leave requests, reviews personnel actions, maintains and documents 971 file. Initiates disciplinary actions and investigates grievances and complaints, resolving them informally where possible, and notifies supervisor of complaint and results achieved. Maintains work reports and records relating to section e.g., progress, production, cost, personnel, equipment, materials, and time and attendance. Plans and schedules work operations. Performs other related duties as assigned.
