The Nurse IV Associate Nurse Executive/Chief Nurse of Connected Care and Transitional and Community Inpatient has direct programmatic/supervisory responsibility for the Nursing Connect Care and Transitional and Community Inpatient Managers and Administrative Support functions. The Deputy Executive Director, Medical Center's managerial duties and responsibilities involve final decisions which have a direct and substantial effect on the health care organization and programs.

These include, but are not limited to, decisions affecting the nature, scope and quality of, and emphases in the facility's/system's patient care programs and activities.

The Deputy Executive Director, Medical Center in collaboration with the Executive Director, Medical Center:

* Determines program goals and objectives, and develops short and long-range plans for achieving them, in conjunction with the overall plans of the Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN) consistent with the strategic planning process;

* Directs a comprehensive evaluation of program goals and objectives and makes necessary adjustments to improve delivery of patient care services;

Clinical Strategy and Direction: Provide clear and direct medical advice and direction to the Trust Board regarding clinical standards, appropriate treatment regimes and its statutory duties with regard to clinical care. Provide medical advice and leadership in the implementation of national policy including national service frameworks. Support and advise clinical and other staff on medical issues and the resolution of medical issues and questions that arise following the provision of care. Ensure that the medical advice and direction given to the Trust Board reflects the guidance received from bodies such as National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) and Joint Royal Colleges Ambulance Liaison Committee (JRCALC) and ensure that the Trust is fully informed where local implementation differs from national guidance. To prepare and present assurance papers on behalf of the Chief Nurse for Board and sub-Board Committees Planning and Organisational Duties To promote an operating framework across the Trust that supports compassion, communication, teamwork, respect, professionalism, and inclusion in accordance with the Trust values To take a lead on the development and implementation of the audit programme to support the full implementation and embedding of the Perfect Ward across all areas of the Trust To take the lead on the review and relaunch of the Trust accreditation programme, providing reports that demonstrate accreditation status and quality improvements from ward to Board To work collaboratively with colleagues across health and social care to develop effective multi-agency working and to drive system wide improvements in patient experience and outcomes To disseminate the results of national annual patient surveys and ongoing patient/user engagement to a wide variety of managerial, clerical and technical staff by a variety of methods including formal and informal presentations. To support the development of SMART action plans and oversee delivery and outcomes of improvement work. Communications and Key Working Relationships Work in close partnership with the Chief Nurse in the delivery of a high-quality patient experience and the development of improvement plans that place patient experience at the heart of what the Trusts activity.
