We are looking for Consultant Cardiologist specialising in aortopathy and Adult Congenital Heart Disease.

The post will be appointed to the Barts Heart Centre, based at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, Barts Health NHS Trust – the merger of three cardiac services into the new cardiovascular centre creates a new world-class institution that will provide state of the art cardiovascular care to a population of six million people. Under the leadership of the local academic health science network, UCL Partners, we are striving for excellence in academic and clinical domains, including the appointment of new clinical academics to ensure future excellence.

The adult CHD service provides all aspects of care to around 12000 patients. There is a busy surgical and congenital interventional programme and sub-speciality services including pregnancy, PHT, Aortopathy and Transition (based at GOSH).

The successful appointee will join the existing team of 6 CHD consultants (Dr Amit Bhan (clinical lead), Dr Seamus Cullen, Dr Filip Zemrak, Dr Bejal Pandya (clinical director of specialised services), Dr Kate Von Klemperer, Dr Fiona Walker), to develop and deliver in-patient and outpatient care for adults with CHD whilst also developing Aortopathy services for screening and inpatient consult for this patient group. Key aortic surgical contacts are Prof Aung Oo, Mr Ben Adams.




Continuing responsibility for the care of patients in his/her charge, including all administrative duties associated with patient care.

Leadership, development and organisation of the services in his/her charge in line with the Trusts’ business plans. Liaison and communication with the Clinical Director for ACHD, General Manager and Director for the Cardiovascular Clinical Academic Group.

With the agreement of the Clinical Director and Clinical Academic Group Director, development of his/her own interests and sub-specialities within the specialty, in line with business planning principles and commissioners’ approval, including active participation in research programmes.

Corporate and individual responsibility for the professional management of doctors in training.

To participate fully in the management of the department and to liaise closely with the Clinical Director, Service Manager, General Manager and Clinical Academic Group Director.

To work within and between the adult CHD and Aortopathy teams, to provide expert care and consult services for inpatients with Aortopathy (with Drs Pandya and Von Klemperer).

He/she will also provide outpatient care for new and follow-up patients with CHD and also provide Aortopathy clinics and echo clinics for these patients.

He/she will also participate in the care of outreach CHD OPD provision developing a new outreach hub within Barts & The London NHS Trust.

There is also an in-patient care commitment for adults with CHD with daytime ITU / ward cover on a weekly basis (1:6) and He/she will join an on-call rota, which provides 24/7 CHD cover on a 1 in 6 rota. He/she will also provide a consult service for Aortopathy inpatients on a 1:3 in-hours basis. The out of hours rota requires a commitment based from home, which includes phone call availability and consult for acutely sick admissions. Time off in lieu can be considered for out-of-hours attendance at the hospital.

OP clinics have typically 10 patients with 1-2 new patients per list. The in-patient workload is around 5pts but can vary.

Participation weekly MDT’s attending the CHD and Ao MDT alternating weeks.

The post holder will fully contribute to the administrative, teaching and research activities within Barts Health and the Heart Hospital. All consultants represent the department on various committees within the trust as well as taking responsibility for particular delegated areas according to their interests and availability. The Clinical Director is responsible for delegating these responsibilities.

• To be responsible for organising and planning an active clinical caseload as an autonomous practitioner managing your time effectively and liaising closely with other agencies and disciplines.

• To undertake the role of CPA co-ordinator for a case load of service users with complex mental health problems who are difficult to engage and require intensive packages of care in line with the Trusts CPA policy.
• To work within the framework of any new model of patient care, as designated by the trust, which may replace the pre-existing CPA framework
• To develop therapeutic relationships with service users in order to provide support and assistance, as appropriate to the service users and their informal carers associated
• To ensure that the Team is aware of the particular perspective of your professional background in relation to patient care, whilst acknowledging the need to blur professional boundaries in order to achieve a seamless approach to client care
• To participate in mental health promotion / education and give advice as necessary to clients and their carers on the maintenance of good health and prevention of relapse
• To administer and monitor the effects and adverse effects of prescribed medication and liaise with medical staff regarding any necessary adjustments in medication (if within professional competency)
• To offer advice / information to clients and carers in regard to prescribed medications
• To ensure the Intensive Outreach Team promotes a positive view of mental health, breaking down prejudice and stigma to facilitate an understanding of problems associated with mental illness
• To provide formal clinical supervision to students and other staff within the team
• To receive formal clinical supervision from the relevant line manager or senior practitioner as appropriate
• To take part in the team duty rota (if applicable), taking duty calls as required for the shift and following the lone working policy for checking staff whereabouts to maintain staff safety
• To possess enhanced communication skills to be able to communicate with service users and cares who are experiencing a range of mental health experiences, including psychotic symptoms or personality disorder – and who may be in distress
• To undertake the role of Lead Clinician for people who are detained under a Community Treatment Order (Mental Health Act)
• To complete formal tribunal/hospital manager’s reports for people detained under a section or a Community treatment Order
• To provide cover for line manager in their absence.
• Being confident, autonomous practitioner who take responsibility for the care they give to patients but also take responsibility for overseeing the work of others in the team including less experienced and unqualified staff

Nanyang Technological University’s ANT Group – NTU Joint Lab is a collaboration between ANT International and NTU. The partnership will explore privacy-preserving methods for large language models (LLMs) and will be overseen by a joint research committee.

We are looking for a Research Engineer II to involved in research and development collaboration with industry, on AI Safety and Trust Technology, especially on the topic of applying fully homomorphic encryption in privacy-preserving machine learning. The successful applicant is expected to be familiar with fully homomorphic encryption and its applications in AI models.

Key Responsibilities:

• Research and development of trust technologies such as privacy-preserving machine learning which are important components of digital trust platforms.
• Be involved in privacy-preserving machine learning and fully homomorphic encryption system development and implementation.
• Assist in preparation of reports and scientific papers.

Job Requirements:

• Master’s degree in computer science, mathematics, information theory or related field
• Participation in privacy, security, and trust related conferences and journals
• Good programming skill, preferably with experience in implementing cryptographic algorithms.
• Be familiar with the following programming languages: C/C++

Key Responsibilities

• Manage debt portfolios and work with various internal stakeholders to address cash flow requirements
• Evaluate, analyse and recommend appropriate funding strategy for new investments and existing debt
• Review and complete documentation to facilitate funding by bilateral/syndicated loans (corporate or project)

Job Requirements

Pre-requisites:

• Degree in Accountancy with minimum 6 to 8 years’ relevant working experience
• Experience in corporate treasury and hedging will be an added advantage

• A strong communicator with excellent stakeholder management skill and ability to work well with different functions and levels
