• Create the communication narrative to influence product, engineering, security, Cloud CoE, customers for the reliability and uptime issues and improvements

What experience you need

• BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding (e.g., physics or mathematics), or equivalent job experience required

• 4+ years of experience developing and/or administering software in public cloud

• 7+ years experience in languages such as Python, Bash, Java, Go JavaScript and/or node.js

• 7+ years system administration skills, including automation and orchestration of Linux/Windows using Terraform, Chef, Ansibleand/or containers (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)

• 7+ years of demonstrable cross-functional knowledge with systems, storage, networking, security and databases

• 7+ years experience in monitoring infrastructure and application uptime and availability to ensure functional and performance objectives.

• 7+ years of proficiency with continuous integration and continuous delivery tooling and practices

• 7+ years of expertise designing, analyzing and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems.

What You’ll do

What experience you need

• BS or Associate's Degree/Technical Certification or equivalent job experience. 

• 7+ years of enterprise and data center network engineering experience - network monitoring/observability including creating dashboards with network tools.  

• 1-2 years of experience working with public Cloud platforms (AWS & GCP) Network Components.

• Strong experience with InfoBlox DNS solution, AWS Route 53, Google Cloud DNS and F5 GTM & LTM.

• Ability to participate in 24x7x365 on-call rotation as Tier 3 escalations. 

• Experience working in a multi-vendor environment with hands-on experience with networking hardware.

• Working knowledge of scripting and programming as it relates to network automation (Bash, Python, Perl) and deployment.

• Ability to interpret network traces and utilize TCPDUMP to troubleshoot and resolve network issues.

• Able to move projects and people towards project end dates in professional and efficient fashion.

• Working knowledge of network protocols (TCP/UDP, DHCP, DNS) and experience with IPv4 and IPv6, as well as experience with layer 3 routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, etc.

• Ability to drive to resolution on network issues (real or perceived) by proactively engaging other groups or resources to provide updates, information, next steps, etc.

As a Senior CMDB Discovery Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of our Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and Discovery processes. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate and up-to-date information is captured, supporting various IT Service Management (ITSM) processes and enhancing overall organizational efficiency.

What you’ll do

• Responsible for being a subject matter expert for CMDB and Asset Discovery using the ServiceNow platform.

• Lead the design and implementation of the CMDB in ServiceNow, ensuring it aligns with organizational needs and best practices.

• Collaborate with product and service owners to align on CMDB and Discovery needs using the ServiceNow ITOM product and grow the operational relevance of the CMDB in alignment with stakeholder requirements and best practices.

• Partner with IT Asset Management teams to align discovery trend data with asset lifecycle management data requirements.

• Establishes strong partner relationships with internal stakeholders, educates on best practices, and manages a pipeline of enhancements to the ServiceNow platform that will allow for measurable and repeatable outcomes that reduce the workload required to keep CMDB records maintained.

• Identifies, prototypes, tests, and releases solutions that are future-proof, customer centric, adoptable, and addresses key asset lifecycle needs.

• Cultivating relationships, customer centricity, and a passion for establishing workflows that automate or simplify processes.

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to CMDB data accuracy, completeness, and usability.

• Implement automation and orchestration solutions to streamline data collection and ensure real-time updates to the CMDB.

• Develop training materials and conduct sessions for end-users, ensuring they understand the importance of CMDB data and how to interact with the system.

• Implement and maintain processes to regularly audit CMDB data for accuracy and compliance with organizational policies and industry standards.

• Proven experience integrating ServiceNow with other ITSM tools and third-party systems.

What experience you need

• 7+ years in IT infrastructure.

• 4+ years of CMDB/Discovery in ServiceNow.

• Experience leading CMDB-related projects from initiation to completion.

• Expert analysis, troubleshooting, technical and non-technical communication skills, both verbal and written.

• Knowledge of Public Cloud environments - GCP, AWS, Azure. 

• Knowledge of Windows Server administration, Active Directory, LDAP, Single-Sign-on, authentication, user and group policy objects, and permission levels OR knowledge of UNIX or Linux Server administration, including user permission levels, SUDO virtualization, including VMware, containerization, and Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.

• IP Networks, subnets and related network knowledge.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
