Role and Responsibilities

• Project Support: Assist in the planning, design, and execution of civil engineering projects related to power and hydro infrastructure.

Roles and Responsibilities

Technician (£28k - £30k per annum)

This role is based in our Fort William workshop – you will be required to repair and service equipment which is deployed by our customers in support of their operations. Such equipment includes underwater cameras, surface cameras, antennae, control cabinets and associated cabling. In time, you will be able to provide remote support to customers to diagnose faults and recommend on-site remedial actions. Whilst you will be workshop based initially, there will be the opportunity to progress and develop into a field service engineer role.

Experience of working in a workshop environment, servicing and repair of electrical/electronic devices will be of benefit. If you possess some understanding of IT networking and troubleshooting, this would also be advantageous. However, this is not essential as full training will be given.

Field Service Engineer (£35k to £40k per annum)

Are you an experienced engineer/technician within the Aquaculture industry? This role will primarily require travel to customer locations to service, maintain, install and commission our systems on customer sites. In addition to this, you will be required to repair and service ScaleAQ equipment at our workshop in Fort William.

A high level and understanding of mechanical/electrical disciplines is essential along with good IT skills.

About the Role

Base Location: Opportunity can be based in either Foyers or Dundreggan

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time

The multi-disciplined team in the Great Glen is responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and repair of our Hydro Generation plant to ensure it is kept in a safe and efficient state. As an important member of the operations and maintenance team you will perform a key role in the safe operation and maintenance of the Hydro Generation assets.

Your duties will include:

- Carrying out mechanical maintenance activities and multi-disciplinary defect rectification, repair work and designated project work.

- Routine inspections and checks ensuring equipment and fixed plant is kept to a high standard of operational effectiveness.

- Conducting risk assessments, plus environmental and safety inspections and will receive training to operate Hydro generation plant.

- Working closely with other team members, reporting, and repairing operational defects as they arise.

Due to the nature of the role you may, from time to time, be required to work outside in all weather conditions and it may be necessary to carry out work out of normal working hours when required.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have;

- A mechanical or multi-skilled craft background, ideally with experience of working on heavy rotating machinery.

- A qualification of NVQ Level 3 / City and Guilds or equivalent craft apprenticeship certificates.

- A good level of computer literacy, and we'll train you to use our inhouse maintenance scheduling and reporting software.

- A full driving licence is essential, and a first aid qualification would be advantageous.

Due to the nature of this role, there is a requirement that you live, or are willing to relocate, within a 30 mile radius of the base location.

What you’ll get to do:

• Manage system requirements and derived requirements to ensure the delivery of production systems that are compatible with the defined system architecture(s) – Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF), Service-oriented Architecture (SOA), etc.

• Contribute to the development of sections of systems engineering documentation such as System Engineering Plans, Initial Capabilities Documents, Requirements specifications, and Interface Control Documents

• Assist with the development of system requirements, functional requirements, and allocation of the same to individual hardware, software, facility, and personnel components.

• Coordinate the resolution of action items from Configuration Control Board (CCB) meetings, design reviews, program reviews, and test reviews that require cross-discipline coordination.

• Participate in an Integrated Product Team to design new capabilities based upon evaluation of all necessary development and operational considerations.

• Allocate real-time process budgets and error budgets to systems and subsystem components.

• Generate alternative system concepts, physical architectures, and design solutions..

• Define the methods, processes, and evaluation criteria by which the systems, subsystems and work products are verified against their requirements in a written plan

• Develop system design solution that satisfies the system requirements and fulfills the functional analysis

• Review and provide input to program and contract work breakdown structure (WBS), work packages and the integrated master plan (IMP)

• Participate in the development of system engineering documentation, such as System Engineering Plans, Initial Capabilities Documents, Requirements Specifications, and Interface Control Documents

• Participate in interface definition, design, and changes to the configuration between affected groups and individuals throughout the life cycle

• Derive from the system requirements an understanding of stakeholder needs, functions that may be logically inferred and implied as essential to system effectiveness

• Derive lower-level requirements from higher-level allocated requirements that describe in detail the functions that a system component must fulfill, and ensure these requirements are complete, correct, unique, unambiguous, realizable, and verifiable

• Participate in establishing and gaining approval of the definition of a system or component under development (requirements, designs, interfaces, test procedures, etc.) that provides a common reference point for hardware and software developers

• Develop derived requirements for Information Assurance Services (Confidentiality, Integrity, Non repudiation, and Availability); Basic Information Assurance Mechanisms (e.g., Identification, Authentication, Access Control, Accountability); and Security Mechanism Technology (Passwords, cryptography, discretionary access control, access control, hashing, key management, etc.).

Systems Engineer Level 3 Qualifications:

• TS/SCI w/POLY required.

• Twenty (20) years’ experience as a SE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type and complexity is required + applicable bachelor's degree, OR

• Twenty-five (25) years' applicable experience without a bachelor's degree.

• Demonstrated experience in planning and leading Systems Engineering efforts is required.

The Occupational Health Nurse will support and contribute to the health of workers in all occupations through health promotion, health protection, and treatment of injury/illnesses.

Responsibilities:

• Provides Occupational Health practices in accordance with company standards and all applicable regulations including WCB and OH&S in Alberta. 
• Provides emergency care/technical support to site emergency response planning including, but not limited to, hands-on medical emergency response, crisis management. 
• Implements site programs, procedures and initiatives for prevention, recognition, and treatment of illness and/or injury. 
• Facilitates disability case management by coordinating health care and early intervention to promote the safe and timely return to work of ill or injured workers. 
• Assists the health and safety team with identifying health and safety hazards in the work setting and suggest controls. 
• Always acts in a professional and confidential manner when dealing with sensitive employee and company information. 
• Provides clinical care services, case management, health assessment program management/services, and general preventive health services. 
• Serves as part of onsite Occupational Health Services, supporting Dow employees, specified contractor employees, visitors, and service customers at a particular site. 
• Provides nursing assessment and interventions by obtaining a complete history, providing physical assessment noting deviations from the norm, ordering medical testing, and making an assessment. 
• Completes medical surveillance testing for employees and specific contract partners (inclusive of biometrics, audiometry, pulmonary function testing, vision testing, phlebotomy for blood lab testing) 
• Reviews the results of history, physical examination, functional and laboratory testing, and determines the need for follow-up or workplace restrictions/limitations. 
• Delivers and coordinates health promotion and disease prevention interventions which might include individual employee counseling, health education, and/or training programs.

About you and this role:

Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Process Automation Engineer located in Fort Saskatchewan (AB, CAN).

As the Senior Process Automation Engineer, you will serve as a technical resource and process automation lead for small to large capital and improvement projects regionally and/or globally. Directs and leads both Dow and contract resources. You would be involved in all three phases of projects: front end loading, detailed design and construction, and commissioning and startup. Requires expanded conceptual and practical knowledge in own job discipline and broadens capabilities.

Also, you can complete each of the following tasks:

• Be responsible for tasks such as those listed below when equipment or instruments are being added, removed, or changed. This role is also involved in Safety Integrity Level (SIL) determination, Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), and designing or modifying the basic process control system (BPCS). Designs the control strategy and control systems, as well as implementation, which is not typical within the industry.
• Establish project goals and planning.
• Track progress, schedules, and costs for the PA team during all project phases.
• Complete technical review of the control team work and provide coaching / corrective feedback.
• Determine testing scenarios and oversee the simulation of the control system to test the strategy and improvements.
• Work with other engineers to determine the project and control requirements.
• Create the process control overview for the project & Develop user requirement system specifications.
• Estimate the process control cost and schedule for the project and manage against these baselines.
• Develop functional requirement specification (FRS) for the system & Create detailed requirement specifications (DRS).
• Develop control software, operator graphics and simulation software.
• Complete the factory acceptance test (FAT) Commissioning.
• Provide training of operations and support commissioning and start-up of the new asset.
  MES Developers:
• Serve as the subject matter expert for work execution, tools and systems supporting and interfacing in the space of Production Operations Management.
• Participate in project scoping activities.
• Drive strategic solutions in partnership with stakeholders.
• Engage with stakeholders and cross-discipline and cross-functional global project teams.
• Perform high level functional activities, such as requirements gathering and gap analysis of user requirements, requires functional and business expertise.
• Participate in the design specifications, configuration, testing, implementation and startup of manufacturing execution systems (MES) solutions.
• Identify and deploy Most Effective Technology (MET) standard solution components to meet project requirements.
• Support training of operations and support commissioning and start-up of the asset.
• Support future process improvements and product development/solution roadmap.
   

Required Qualifications:

• A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Sciences OR relevant military experience at or above a U.S. E6 or Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant ranking.
• A minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience. Previous Process Automation experience is preferred.
• Registration or the ability to be registered with APEGA (EIT/P. Eng).
• A minimum requirement for this Canada based position is the ability to work legally in Canada. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position.
   

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in Hydrocarbons technology and manufacturing. 
• Proficiency in Process Automation application development in ABB or MOD5 platform.
• Demonstrated ability to lead by influence and to work across multiple cultures/time zones.
