- Provide professional and comprehensive advocacy services to individuals exhibiting a wide variety of issues related to being a victim or survivor of sexual harassment or sexual assault.
- Conduct assessments with clients to determine required needs and evaluates safety and levels of risk.
- Assess the urgency of cases and develops a plan for assistance.
- Develop and implement an appropriate plan of action in crisis situations. Maintain contact with clients through follow-up support for ongoing needs related to coping with harassment and assault incident(s).
- Conduct safety planning and initiate the notification process with agencies such as law enforcement, safe shelters and command to ensure safety and well-being for the victim, alleged offender, affected Family members and the community.
- Recognize symptoms of emotional distress or social disorganization that require immediate additional professional intervention and refer cases to appropriate professional medical and/or social services staff.
- Possess an extensive knowledge of local professional and non-professional (financial, housing, etc.) services and support for victims of harassment or assault and provide clients with information, referrals and applicable resources available.
- Inform individuals of reporting options, their rights and responsibilities as a victim. Ensure continuity of advocacy support activities in both garrison and deployed environments, as required by the Commander.
- Conduct professional level and administrative educational and interactive training workshops/seminars for victims of sexual harassment and sexual assault, community agencies, units and leaders.
- Assist SARC in conducting training for Soldiers, commanders, and first responders such as medical staff and law enforcement.
- Ensure victims of sexual assault receive all needed guidance and emotional support during administrative, medical, investigative, and legal procedures.
- Conduct command consultations. Refer victims to other community services as required to include hotline services and individual support to victims at the point of service.
- Serve on the Sexual Assault Review Board (SARB). May serve on community boards and committees representing the SHARP program.
- Address victim services for sexual harassment and sexual assault. Complete and maintains required program files and client records. Compile and submit program reports, data and evaluations.
- Coordinate professional and support services for victims with service support and community organizations and agencies.
