A leading utilities organisation in Wales are currently looking for a Technical Architect, focusing on Operational Technology, to come in and compliment the existing architecture team. You will collaborate to ensure that the organisation optimises their industrial processes, enhances resilience, and leverages emerging technologies. This is a great opportunity for an OT Engineer to take the step-up into Architecture.

Your new role

You will be a part of the Architecture team and add value and expertise from an OT standpoint. You'll be an SME in OT Architecture/Engineering.

• Develop and maintain a complex and critical operational technology architecture that aligns with organisational goals and industry best practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand operational requirements and translate them into scalable and secure technology solutions.
• Lead the evaluation, selection, and implementation of operational technology systems, ensuring compatibility with existing IT infrastructure.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance on the integration of industrial control systems, sensors, and automation technologies.
• Design and implement cybersecurity measures for operational technology systems, ensuring the protection of critical infrastructure from cyber threats.
• Conduct regular assessments and audits of operational technology systems to identify vulnerabilities and recommend improvements.

What you'll need to succeed

You will need to be able to influence and collaborate with other teams in the organisation and have the ability to build strong internal relationships with other members in the business. A big part of this role is the ability to communicate well with third parties and internal customers. You will have worked within similar roles and have a strong knowledge of OT and Cyber processes, as well as the different compliance frameworks associated with the utilities world.

• Operational Technology Expertise: In-depth knowledge of Industrial Control Systems (ICS), SCADA, PLCs, DCS, and other operational technology components.
• Cybersecurity: Proficient in implementing cybersecurity measures for operational technology, including network segmentation, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems.
• Integration Skills: Experience in integrating operational technology systems with enterprise IT systems for seamless data flow and analytics.
• Emerging Technologies: Familiarity with emerging technologies such as IoT, AI, and edge computing, and their application in optimising operational processes.
• Communication: Effective communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and facilitate collaboration across departments.

What you'll get in return

This role is hybrid, on a 50/50 basis. This would usually equate to 2 days in the office one week, 3 days in the office the next.

• £60k-£65k initially, with yearly increments/pay rises

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Provide technical support to the Bespoke design process.
• Capturing the proposed design in the form of a sketch, 2D drawing or render, along with a technical description.
• Quickly attain a good knowledge of our existing product portfolio, understanding how these products are manufactured and the parameters around which we can make customer specific alternatives.
• Working alongside the Lead Designer initially, but in time independently, develop a knowledge of what we can profitably & repeatably manufacture to a high quality.
• Support the Bespoke team and wider product development team with 3D models and product renders to be used in presentations, quotations, and marketing materials.
• Advise on the buying in costs, MOQ's and lead times of special components where appropriate to support accurate quotations at the enquiry stage.
• Developing relationships with key suppliers and keeping abreast of relevant technical developments within our own factory & across the wider industry.

Requirements

• Manufacturing Industry experience, ideally 3+ years.
• Experience working with wood and sheet metal will be beneficial.
• Product rendering, ideally using Keyshot or 3D Studio max software.
• Proficient use of AutoCad & SolidWorks (or SolidEdge)
• Understanding of modern manufacturing techniques & materials and how they can be incorporated into effective product solutions

Your new role
Within the role you'll work closely with the Head of Architecture and wider team of architects and act as the Network SME within the team. You'll be responsible for the high level design and continuous improvement of resilient network architecture that supports the organisations critical needs. The role includes network related project work ensuring resilience, scalability, security, and optimal performance across the organisations sites.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this role you will need to be an experienced Network Architect or Senior Engineer with in depth knowledge of designing and implementing complex IT network architecture. You'll have experience across Routing and Switching, Network Security, Wireless Networking, Cloud Networking and Technical Troubleshooting. You'll need to be an excellent communicator and have good stakeholder management skills with technical and non-technical individuals. You'll need to hold relevant Cisco certifications, ideally CCNP but you may be considered with CCNA or other relevant certifications.
