• Plans and implements a comprehensive Interior Design Program which includes providing complete, from concept to installation, interior design services for the organization to include satellite facilities. Duties include performing and managing work related to the design of interior environments to promote employee productivity, health, and welfare, and/or the health and welfare of the public.
• Provides technical expertise to coworkers and contractors and routinely coordinates with engineers, architects, and other designers to ensure compliance with VA regulations and facility design criteria. Acts as a technical representative for design and finish specifications matters and manages the facility furniture program. Influences design of new construction from conception through activation by an in-depth knowledge of use requirements and availability of resources to fulfill these requirements; ensures that appropriately designed finish plans are formulated and comply with commercial building codes, safety and environmental guidelines and the VA master specification for all renovation and new construction projects.
• Acts as Contracting Officer's Representative for all furnishings, window treatments, patient cubicle curtains, wall coverings, floor coverings, wall art, lighting, ceiling treatments, casework, and all other interior design-related accoutrements from origination to installation. Selects items based upon: patient, visitor, and staff needs; VA and facility standards, infection prevention and control requirements, healthcare environment needs, General Services Administration (GSA) contract sources; and available resources, while meeting VA socio-economic goals and acquisitions regulations in accordance with the Federal Acquisition Regulation and Veterans Affairs Acquisition Regulation Develops project timelines to ensure orders are placed in accordance with Procurement Action Lead Times (PALT) deadlines to ensure timely delivery without impact to construction.
• Works with direct supervisor to determine priorities and utilize an annual interior design budget in recurring funds and budgeting projects that may involve millions of dollars in non-recurring funds. This includes verifying receipt of orders and coordinating installation. In addition to fixed annual budget and nonrecurring funds for projects, incumbent prepares interior design budgetary requirements for major and minor construction projects, for supplemental and future funding by VHA. The position is responsible for prioritizing needs at the medical center and preparing budgets and justifications to obtain funds needed by the program.
• Ensures that the new signage/directional graphics meet the requirements of The Joint Commission (TJC) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) as applicable and effectively informs/directs patients, visitors, and staff. The Interior Designer develops an evaluation method to assess the effectiveness of the signage and wayfinding plan for Veterans, visitors and staff. The position represents the facility at various design-trade functions and maintains an effective rapport with design-industry vendors and/or representatives. Contact is maintained with designers at VA facilities to exchange pertinent professional information regarding existing and future projects; utilizes these contacts to keep abreast of the ever-changing concepts related to interior design responsibilities.
• Manages an interior design file system that includes drawings, specifications, budgets, project information, government contracts, requests for interior design services, and regulations pertaining to interior design; manages a resource library of catalogs for furniture, materials, finishes, and all other design-related items, that are appropriate by ensuring they contribute to infection prevention, long term maintenance and sustainability goals for a healthcare environment.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Under the direction of phlebotomy management, performs diverse support functions including phlebotomy to ensure accurate test results and a quick turnaround time. Positions supporting Patient Service Centers and client offices are required to provide phlebotomy services to these locations as determined by department needs and may be assigned to different locations and/or different schedules without a 30-day notice.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

1. Performs venipuncture and capillary punctures to obtain adequate samples from patients. Responsible for proper patient identification, correct specimen labeling and necessary documentation. Demonstrates knowledge and ability to evaluate and select proper collection methods for age specific patients.

2. Supports laboratory activities related to laboratory testing (phlebotomy, specimen collection, computer order entry and specimen processing) to ensure accurate result reporting and quick turn-around time.

3. Performs processing functions to support laboratory services as related to testing including verification, accessioning, aliquoting, processing and batching send out testing, adding/cancelling tests, distributing, storing and disposing of specimens.

4. Adheres to Compliance policies as related to job duties to include presenting Advance Beneficiary Notice (ABN) of non-coverage prior to delivery of outpatient services.

5. Performs observational competency of all support staff under the guidance of the phlebotomy leadership using established criteria.

6. Maintains department equipment and inventory to ensure proper supplies are available.

7. Works well without direct supervision.

8. Participates in:

Job Requirements

• Master's degree Completion of accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program required
• 2 to 5 years' experience post Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant training strongly preferred.
• Licensed Registered Nurse - MN Board of Nursing or equivalent PA licensure required upon hire
• Certified Nurse Practitioner - ANCC - American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) or equivalent PA certification required Certification within specialty upon hire
• ACLS-BLS Tier 2 - Multisource required within 180 Days
• Drug Enforcement Administration upon hire required

GENERAL OVERVIEW:

Completes one or more of the following processes (scheduling, pre-registration, financial clearance, authorization and referral validation and pre-serviceability estimations and collections) within Patient Access and creates the first impression of AHN's services to patients and families and other external customers. Articulates information in a manner that patients, guarantors and family members understand so they know what to expect and understand their financial responsibilities. Assumes clinical and financial risk of the organization when collecting and documenting information on behalf of the patient.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conducts scheduling, and preregistration functions, validates patient demographic data, identifies and verifies medical benefits, accurate plan code and COB order. Obtains limited clinical data based on service required. Corrects and updates all necessary data to assure timely, accurate bill submission. (30%)
• Verifies insurance information through payor contacts via telephone, online resources, or electronic verification system. Identifies payor authorization/referral requirements. Provides appropriate documentation and follow up to physician offices, case management department, and payors regarding authorization/referral deficiencies. (20%)
• Identifies all patient financial responsibilities, calculates estimates, collects liabilities and post payment transactions as appropriate in the ADT system and performs daily reconciliation. Identifies self-pay and complex liability calculations and escalates account to Financial Counselors as appropriate. (20%)
• Delivers positive patient experience. Cooperates with and maintains excellent working relationships with patients, AHN leadership and staff, physician offices and designated external agencies or vendors. Performs any written or verbal communication necessary to exchange information with designated contacts and promote working relationships. (10%)
• Maintains focus on attaining productivity standards, recommending innovative approaches for enhancing performance and productivity when appropriate. (10%)
• Adheres to AHN organizational policies and procedures for relevant location and job scope. Completes and/or attends mandatory training and education sessions within approved organizational guidelines and timeframes. (10%)
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum

• High school diploma or GED; or one – three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• One previous year of related experience, preferably within a medical setting, financial services
  setting, and/or a demanding customer service environment
• Experience operating a PC and using software applications

Preferred

• Medical terminology and obtaining insurance verifications
• Call/Service Center experience

Qualifications:

Job Responsibilities:
• Maintains competencies/contact hours as required by Company and regulations.

Job Description

Essential Job Functions:

• Accountable for accurately collecting demographics, confirming patient identity, guarantor assignment, and coverage information and verification from patients or informants including obtaining necessary documents for check-in or admission among various patient settings, utilizing various communication methods (i.e phone, letters, face-to-face, bedside). 
• Assists in achieving the strategic objectives of Monument Health by following Revenue Cycle guidelines. Including participating in quality assurance and improvement activities.
• Demonstrates knowledge of payer information and benefits, including Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers as well as third party liability payers.
• Performs point of service collections including prepayments, outstanding balances, co-payment and co-insurance; daily reconciliation of cash drawer.  Provides patients with basic account reconciliation.
• Initiates financial clearance by providing patient with cost estimates for scheduled services. Properly escalates financial clearance needs on behalf of the patient.
• Review and understand authorization and referral records to confirm financial clearance.
• Educates patient and maintains regulatory compliance as required by distributing and/or obtaining required forms and signatures including consents for treatment and financial agreements, ABN/waivers, and other regulatory forms.
• Performs business office duties including incoming phone calls and messages, in-basket messaging, patient communications, intra-departmental communications, scanning/faxes, taxi vouchers, mail distribution, lost and found, safe and valuables and other duties as assigned.
• Provides service excellence including way-finding, reception. Demonstrates the importance of satisfying the needs of the customer by interacting with him/her in a friendly and caring way, being attentive to both emotional and physical needs. Takes responsibility to maintain communication with the customer in order to provide a secure and pleasant experience throughout the system.
• May obtain referrals and order transcription, as applicable to service area.
• Perform patient scheduling and check-out, including pre-arrival management for upcoming services per protocols within the supported department, managing and monitoring patient wait lists and recall lists appropriately.
• Maintain registration related work queues including ongoing resolution of errors. 
• Working knowledge of the electronic medical record: advanced directives, release of information, patient portal proxy forms. Ability to educate patient on the patient basic purpose, and regulations.
• Address account inquires, resolve or escalate inquiries as appropriate.
• In order to provide the highest quality of care to our patients, individuals may be required to work beyond normal scheduled shifts and will be required to comply with Monument Health's Attendance Policy.
• May perform patient movement activities in the electronic medical record.
• May arrange patient transportation and other enabling services.
• Assist clinical care team as needed including providing transport in cooperation with clinical team direction.
• Responsible for attending all mandatory education, compliance and safety program sessions.
• Required to comply with all current and future policies and procedures and report directly to the supervisor.
• All other duties as assigned.
