Job Description Summary

This position requires the maintenance of accounting and reporting procedures resulting in accurate product costs and manufacturing performance reporting and ensures product inventories and manufacturing assets are adequately safeguarded and financial reporting. Additionally, will occasionally interact with Global Marketing, Research and Development, and other General & Administrative functions. Promote change, as needed, to ensure compliance to GAAP/SOX, reviewing and delivering recommendations for continuous improvement, and clearly communicating relevant fiscal information to executive management. Position could potentially require limited domestic travel.

This position will report directly to the Plant Controller.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the local, business unit and San Antonio/GenPact finance teams to maintain the financial integrity for all activities associated with the Sumter manufacturing facility, as well as Global IDS Quality function.

• Leads all aspects of all planning, reporting, and analysis of Standard Product Costing, Manufacturing Variances, Inventory, and its component parts.

• Developing standard costs and maintaining fixed assets

• Ensuring reserves are calculated appropriately

• Ensuring manufacturing performance is accurately reported

• Maintain business visibility to all risks & opportunities in the manufacturing space

• Quarterly forecasting

• Partners with the Manufacturing Directors and Plant LT to optimize finance related operational decisions, ensure appropriate financial/accounting, introduce process control as needed, and safeguard company assets.

• Drives continuous financial improvement through Gross Profit analysis, Inventory analysis, New Product and Discontinuance Analysis, and Spending analysis.

• Ensures financial reports and records are prepared in compliance with US GAAP and BD financial policies, and financial controls are maintained and that the requirements of the Sarbanes/Oxley Act are met.

• Assists both internal and external auditors with their periodic review of the BD Specimen Management financial records. Is further responsible for the implementation of agreed upon recommendations, related to areas of responsibility, resulting from the audit findings.

• Responsible for maintaining capital investment strategy and reporting by partnering with project management.

To be successful in this role, you require:

• A track record demonstrating the management of growing levels of responsibility, successful business partnering at a senior level, and leading cross-functional teams.
• Consistent record of improving controls and influencing decisions through accounting knowledge and data driven financial analysis.
• Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, macros, VLOOKUP, etc.)
• Experience with SAP preferred.
• Superb interpersonal skills, strong collaboration and proven ability to build rapport with all business partners, and influence at all levels of management through informed discussions and presentations.
• Knowledge of corporate accounting policies and procedures, and GAAP.
• Driven, proactive and seeks continuous improvement.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, matrixed, exciting environment with strong attention to detail.
• Organized with good analytical skills, and the ability to lead projects.
• Audit experience preferred, and knowledge of SOX controls.
• Strong desire to learn and advance within the finance function.

Education and experience required:

• 5+ years of relevant dynamic accounting / finance experience in a manufacturing environment: manufacturing operations, product costing, manufacturing variances and inventory control, financial analysis, COGS, CAPEX, and budgeting & forecasting experience required.
• Requires a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. A CPA, MBA, or CMA is preferred.
• Proven track record leading and serving as an effective team member in a large organization.

The Corporate Accounting Team is responsible for timely and accurate delivery of all day-to-day accounting and close activities at Corporate Finance, including general accounting, hedging, foreign exchange accounting, pension, benefits, intercompany, partnering with Enterprise Systems Team on ERP (SAP/Costpoint) accounting governance matters, and global statutory reporting.

This position will lead the Corporate Accounting team and will report to the Senior Director Corporate Finance (Corporate Controller).

Summary of the job duties include:

Accounting:

• Responsible for timely and accurate delivery of all day-to-day accounting and close activities at Corporate Finance, including general accounting, hedging, foreign Exchange Accounting, pension, benefits, intercompany and global statutory reporting
• Ensure adherence to Accounting Practices and Procedures (GAAP)
• Risk mitigation by ensuring presence and adherence to controls and compliance including SOX
• Ensure process documentation/procedures are developed and kept update at regular intervals

Team Management:

• Leading a high performing team of approx. 15 members, with 3 - 4 Managers as Direct Reports
• Manage, coach, and develop team; Ensure delivery of results through the team
• Back-up planning and ensure team members are cross trained for business continuity

Continuous improvements/Initiatives:

• Identify and implement process improvements/initiatives to bring efficiency, effectiveness, and cash flow savings
• Active participation and contribution to Corporate initiatives like EPR migration

Business Partnering:

• Develop and maintain trust-based relationship with Senior Stakeholders by contributing to their business goals
• Partner with Finance Leaders across the globe on several strategic initiatives

Qualifications, Experience and Behavioral requirements

• Accounting degree at an advanced level; CPA or equivalent will be an added advantage.
• Work experience of 10-15 years in various F&A roles
• 3-4 years of management experience
• Experience with SAP, Costpoint, NextGen EPM, Hyperion HFM, Microsoft Dynamics (preferred)
• Should have worked in a SOX process environment with multi-national organization of repute
• Experience of working in a virtual environment and dealing with stakeholders at senior leadership level from diverse background and nationalities
• Strong interpersonal skills including communication (both verbal and written) and articulation and the ability to influence senior stakeholders
• Business savvy, ability to work with tight timelines and pressure
• Should display continuous improvement mindset and should have led process improvements; candidate with knowledge on lean / Six Sigma preferred

USAID IPSA: Accounting Manager (Contingency Hire)

KBR is looking for an Accounting Manager (AM) to join our team for an exciting opportunity supporting the USAID NexGen Global Health Supply Chain Program. This is a full-time position that will accommodate a hybrid remote/office work schedule, but will require occasional travel to the Washington, D.C. area and potential overseas travel. The AM will work under the direct supervision of the Business Manager and serves as the main point of contact for end-to-end accounting management operations.  Must be a highly organized self-starter capable of working in a fast-paced, multi-discipline team environment with the ability to manage competing priorities to achieve goals.

Responsible for accounting policies and procedures involving the maintenance of a precise general ledger, analysis of balance sheet accounts, and management financial reporting. Under general direction, is accountable for the performance and results of a related discipline or sub-group within a function. Manages the delivery of functional objectives by providing leadership and direction to team members. Participates in the development of functional strategy and may be responsible for global processes and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Review monthly and quarterly balance sheet account reconciliations performed by the team; ensuring timely, adequate, and complete reconciliations with adequate explanations for any variances that may exist.
• Oversee organizational and professional development of accounting staff, as needed
• Oversee the monthly close process; preparing / approving month-end journal entries and participate in resolving potential issues and communicating any possible close related delays
• Work to assess the adequacy of existing or required new Internal controls
• Provide monthly/quarterly reports and analysis to internal & external auditors and respond regarding periodic information requests.
• Work cross-functionally with multiple functions to evaluate potential change orders and their accounting impact
• Support monthly reporting of budgets/forecasts to corporate FP&A and Treasury
• Continuously analyze current automation of the accounting and reporting process and present improvement suggestions
• Ensure project funding requirements are met to ensure positive project cash flow
• Maintain adequate documentation in support of Sarbanes-Oxley compliance and assessments
• Uphold company standards when working with business partners to ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, procedures, and controls
• Perform various ad-hoc analyses and other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (Accounting, Finance)
• 10+ years of experience in Accounting / Finance, including 2+ years of supervisory/managerial experience
• Preferred experience with Joint Venture projects
• Experience with standard government agency (particularly USAID) reporting requirements
• Proficiency in project finance assessments, cost analysis, forecasting, budget development
• Advanced skills with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
