Project Title: Mindful High Intensity Interval Training Sessions

Project Introduction:

We are seeking an energetic research assistant interested in physical education, exercise, and mindfulness to join Mindful-HIITS, a research project exploring the impact of a school-based intervention on adolescent regulation and wellbeing.

Exercise and mindfulness training are both valuable interventions that can enhance cognitive function, emotion regulation, and well-being. Their low-cost, modifiable, and scalable nature, offer economical practices that can be adopted by schools to potentially enhance student learning. Some teachers in Singapore already utilize exercise or mindfulness with students in efforts to enhance learning and well-being; however, it is unclear how widely these practices are used, or if they are implemented effectively in local schools. Moreover, while there is ample evidence supporting the broad benefits of exercise and mindfulness separately, there is a dearth of research examining their combined effects on emotion regulation and wellbeing.

This research project aims to develop and test a school-based intervention to improve adolescents’ cognitive and affective functioning through a combination of exercise (high intensity interval training [HIIT]) and mindfulness practice that is tailored for secondary school students over several PE lessons. Acute and longer-term effects of the combined mindfulness and HIIT sessions (Mindful HIITS) on emotion regulation, wellbeing, and learning, will be studied using multimodal approaches involving self-report, neuroimaging (EEG), and physiological data collection in school environments. The successful applicant will help drive all aspects of the project and can receive training in mindfulness-based stress reduction practices alongside a wide range of research skills in order to collect, analyze, and interpret multimodal data related to mindfulness, physical exercise, and learning in adolescents.

Your Key Responsibilities

The role of the Research Assistant is consisting of carrying out research programs while observing the objectives defined by the business division. To support R&D activities in wastewater treatment, and environmental control system.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Engaging R&D and product development activities to enable new product introduction and improvements.
• Design product and system prototypes to receive feedback and identify areas of improvement through R&D studies.
• Assisting the operation team to identify and troubleshoot the technical problems associated with the products.
• Involving mainly in R&D department and working closely with the rest of the technical, business, production, and operation teams for designing, manufacturing and implementation of innovative water and wastewater solutions.
• Evaluate alternatives, resolve technical issues and interface with other disciplines.
• Ensure technical accuracy, standard engineering practices and inclusion of appropriate documentation on various report and design project.
• Collection and sampling of water sample at client's site
• Ensure good housekeeping in the laboratory and pilot plant and be responsible for the safety and environment compliance of the new processes.
• Perform other duties as needed.

We are seeking an experienced Research Fellow specialized in intellectual property (IP) development and patents within the wastewater treatment sector. This role is integral to our mission of innovating and commercializing eco-friendly, cost-effective wastewater solutions using cutting-edge electrochemistry technology.

What you will be doing

• Innovation and Research: Lead exploratory research projects to innovate and enhance our technology, focusing on areas ripe for intellectual property creation.
• Intellectual Property Management: Develop strategies for IP protection, including drafting, filing, and prosecuting patents, and managing the company's IP portfolio.
• Collaboration and Leadership: Work closely with R&D and product development teams to identify patentable inventions, ensure IP protection strategies align with product development, and advise on potential IP challenges.
• Technology Analysis: Conduct comprehensive analysis of existing technologies and market trends to identify opportunities for IP development and potential patent infringements to avoid.
• Legal Coordination: Liaise with legal advisors and patent offices to navigate the patent landscape, ensuring compliance with international IP laws and regulations.
• Publication and Advocacy: Publish research findings in reputable scientific journals and represent Hydroleap at conferences, contributing to the company’s reputation as a leader in the field.
• Educational Outreach: Mentor junior researchers and engineers on IP matters, fostering an environment of continuous learning and innovation.

Your Capabilities and Credentials

• MSc or PhD in Chemical or Environmental engineering
• Demonstrated experience in research with a significant track record of intellectual property development, including patent drafting and filing.
• Familiar and interested in water/wastewater treatment processes
• Familiar with water treatment processes and lab equipments
• Familiar and interested in scientific paper reading, research and lab work
• Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and communication skills, with proficiency in research methodologies and patent databases.
• Commitment to the task assigned, self initiative and problem solving skill
