Position Summary:

On behalf of our client, Global Skilled Employment Services is looking for a skilled and experienced Dairy Cattle Farm Operator who can use their knowledge and skills to perform set procedures such as milking and attending to livestock, haymaking, and fencing, then applies the knowledge and skills to multiple operations involving basic levels of problem solving and decision making and has an appreciation of the overall processes involved in a dairy farm.

This is a full-time position which may involve weekend or public holidays work and some unplanned hours of work where the need arises (paid accordingly).

Duties and responsibilities:

• Operate milking plant and equipment;
• Identify and report equipment not operating normally;

• Read and record instrument information i.e. Milk vat temperatures and cow numbers; and
• Understands the principles of safe working;

• Know general scientific terminology and assist with processes such as machine repair, artificial insemination, fertiliser mix design etc.;

• Work at times without supervision

About the role

We are currently seeking Cloacal Chick Sexers for our Hatchery in Goulburn NSW (which is located two hours drive from Sydney and only one hour from Canberra) on a permanent full time basis.

Working days and hours are dependent on the hatch schedule and this will change on a week-to-week basis. Typically this role requires early starts from around 5.30 am, although the working day generally is finished by 2.00 pm.

What we're looking for

The successful applicant will be one of a team of Sexers who will sex day-old Ross parent, grandparent and great grandparent breeder chicks. Proven experience cloacal sexing in a high-volume hatchery with both breeder parent and grandparent stock is essential. A demonstrated breeder cloacal sexing skill level providing 98% accuracy, 48.5% sexing split and a minimum sexing rate of 900 chicks per hour is imperative.

Applicants MUST either have residency or citizenship in Australia.

What's on offer

Remuneration for this full-time position ranges from AU$80,000 - AU$100,000 depending on skill and experience and there is an ability to increase annual remuneration based on an assessment of competence and performance in the job after 12 months. Relocation package available to successful candidates for those who meet all of the requirements identified.
