An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Occupational Therapist to join our rotation. The post holder will work in a dedicated OT team alongside a supportive MDT, to deliver occupational therapy.Our rotations are 9 months in duration, and currently cover Orthopaedics, Neurology/Stroke, Surgery, General Medicine and Acute Care Therapy Team (ACTT)

The teams are committed to delivering high standards of care across the patient pathway.

We are seeking applications from individuals with a passion for working in the acute setting. You will need to demonstrate time management skills and the ability to be flexible, to be able to manage a caseload in a busy setting. Excellent communication skills will be key, as you will be working with patients and their families in stressful and complex situations. The successful candidate will also need to demonstrate good interpersonal skills and be committed to team working both within OT and the wider MDT.

Applicants will be supported to develop problem solving and specialist clinical skills essential for meeting the demands of this setting. Regular supervision will be provided and a staff appraisal system is in operation.

We are commissioned to provide a seven day services so flexibility to work weekends will be required.

Successful candidates will be expected to work between both the Cardio-Respiratory department at Chesterfield Royal Hospital and the nearby Community Diagnostic site at Walton Hospital.

You will work as an independent practitioner within a multidisciplinary department; performing complex lung function testing and being a key member of our Physiologist led sleep disordered breathing service.

The successful applicant will ideally be experienced in a full range of investigations including spirometry with reversibility, single breath gas transfer, lung volume measurements by body plethysmography, mannitol challenge testing and flight assessments. In addition you should have the ability to perform and report oximetry and respiratory sleep studies, and establish and monitor patients on CPAP/NIV therapy.

Provide a professional clerical and reception service to the Therapies and Dietetic Outpatient Department (Suite 5) to ensure that patients, carers, staff and visitors receive a friendly, courteous and efficient service. To receive patients in a professional and friendly manner, check their documentation details on the Medway and/or EPR (SystmOne) and direct the patient to the appropriate clinic. Operate a VDU to access the Medway and/or EPR (SystmOne) systems ensuring that accurate patient computer records are maintained and arranging/changing/cancelling outpatient appointments in accordance with local policies and procedures.
