We are looking to recruit a Consultant in Anaesthetics with an interest in Obstetric Anaesthesia at Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust to join our dynamic and friendly team.
Daytime work will include Chesterfield Birth Centre cover and theatre work and you will join the consultant general non-resident on call rota, supporting the resident juniors and the middle grade who cover emergency theatres and obstetric services. Support in our new, state of the art Emergency Department whilst in Resus is expected.
As a successful applicant you will be joining an established team, comprising of Consultant Anaesthetists and Intensivists, Associate Specialists, Trust Specialty Doctors and F1- ST7 doctors in training.
The Critical Care & Anaesthetic Department incorporates Theatre Services, ITU, HDU, Department of Pain Management, and forms part of the Surgical Specialties Division.

Main Responsibilities
· To work flexibly to provide service between Anaesthesia and Critical Care
· Work with the wider MDT team to maintain and improve patients’ pathways through our Division.
· Maintain accurate and timely clinical record keeping using the Trust’s electronic systems.
· Play an active part in the training and supervision of medical staff in junior and non-training grades and the development of support staff, supporting and leading the delivery of education for trainee medical staff and medical students.
· Participate effectively in Clinical Audit and Clinical Governance.
· Engage with requirements for Continuing Professional Development in accordance with guidelines set down by the Royal College of Anaesthetists.
Leadership, Management & Service Development
· Undertake evaluation and monitoring of clinical practice incorporating evidence-based principles and suitable outcome measures.
· Engage with the Divisional and Trust business planning processes and wider service development as required.
· Work collaboratively with the Divisional Senior Team to take an active role in the management of the Department.
· Work with colleagues to play a full part in developing and implementing new ways of working in line with modernisation principles that are fit for the future.
