The Role
We are looking for an experienced and dedicated Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) to join our Emergency Duty Team here in Tameside.
Tameside Metropolitan Borough Councils Emergency Out-of-Hours Service provides an emergency social work & Approved Mental Health service to respond to urgent situations which arise out of normal office hours and which cannot be left with an appropriate degree of safety until the next normal working day. The Service provides crisis support with Mental Health Act Assessments, Children’s Mental Health Act Assessments, safeguarding out of borough placement support, crisis support for people visiting the area and enabling services, including the fulfilment of statutory obligations and responsibilities of the Boroughs’ Children’s and Adult Services.
You will be working collaboratively across a range of disciplines to continuously promote the needs of vulnerable adults. The aim of the role will be to prevent significant harm or hardship by coordinating services when a need is indicated.
About You
You will be a skilled and reflective social work practitioner with demonstrable experience of working with people with mental health needs and people in crisis.
You will have proven assessment, care planning, case work and organizational / communication skills in the context of managing a service user’s requirements and the safe delivery of focused intervention packages where required.
You should have experience of working with older adults, adults with mental health needs and related social difficulties.
The work is organized on a shift basis covering evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays.
You will receive regular supervision, support and training to ensure your continuous professional and personal development.
It is essential that you hold a current valid driving license and have access to a vehicle for work use.
You will need to hold a recognised Social Work Qualification and be an Approved Mental Health Professional and be registered with Social Work England.
