PROGRAM OVERVIEW
DESF employs support staff to provide Disability Support Providers in WA various services from administration to disability support workers.
DESF is a rapidly growing and developing enterprise. As such employee’s roles and responsibilities are expected to develop along with the company.
About The Role
We are looking for full-time Disability Support Workers to provide person-centered support to individuals with varying needs. The role involves assisting clients with daily living tasks, personal care, community access, and implementing individual care plans in accordance with their goals. You will play a critical role in fostering a supportive and inclusive environment, ensuring the physical, emotional, and social well-being of our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and medication administration.
• Support clients in accessing the community, attending appointments, and participating in social and recreational activities.
• Implement and monitor individual support plans, ensuring all goals are met according to the client’s needs and preferences.
• Provide emotional support and encourage independence and choice for clients.
• Maintain accurate documentation and records, including progress notes and incident reports.
• Ensure a safe and clean environment for clients, adhering to health and safety standards.
• Communicate effectively with clients, their families, and other healthcare professionals.
Selection Criteria:
• Certificate III or IV in Disability, Individual Support, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Previous experience working with people with disabilities in a support or care role.
• Ability to assist with personal care and mobility support.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to person-centered care.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• A valid First Aid and CPR certificate, manual handling and medication assistance.
• NDIS Worker Screening Check
• Current Australian driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle (if required).
Desirable:
• Solid experience in handling complex care such as PEG Feeding, Urinary Catheter, Dysphagia Management, Diabetes, Tracheostomy, seizure management and ventilator support.
• Exposure to specific disabilities, such as intellectual disabilities, autism, or physical disabilities.
• Experience in administering medications and other controlled drugs.
• Understanding of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) framework.
