An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in the Head, Neck, Breast & Dermatology Care Group. The successful applicant will work between the sites of William Harvey Hospital, Kent & Canterbury Hospital and Queen Elizabeth, Queen Mother Hospital.

You will work as part of a team with the existing 7 Consultants and other staff within the department.

The successful applicant will be required to work flexibly within this team structure and participate in a 1:6 2nd on call rota.

You must have full registration with the General Dental Council and be in possession of Bachelor of Dental Surgery, or equivalent and preferably a postgraduate qualification e.g. FDS, MFDS, MJDF. In addition, you will be expected to have experience at SHO or DCT level in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and be competent in Minor Oral Surgery.

This is a Speciality Doctor in Oral and Maxillofacial post, whole time, based at William Harvey Hospital, but with split duties at Kent & Canterbury Hospital. On-call duties will be at the William Harvey Hospital which is the Kent Centre for oral and maxillofacial surgery serving a population of 720,000.

The Oral and Maxillofacial department is accommodated in modern premises and the Unit provides a comprehensive service for medical and surgical problems involving the mouth, jaws, face, neck and supporting structures. It provides a service for maxillofacial trauma, head and neck oncology and its reconstruction, facial deformity, temporomandibular joint surgery, implantology dentoalveolar surgery. The Unit has an active interest in undergraduate and postgraduate education and is involved in clinical research. Particular interest has been taken in supporting the development of all staff and good links and exchanges of trainees from other countries have been developed as a result.

The Unit works in close co-operation with its other medical and dental colleagues.

This post is up to a maximum of 12 sessions inclusive of 2nd on call on a 1:6 rota with Speciality Registrars and other Speciality Doctors. The appointee will also normally be expected to have MJDF, MFDS, or FDS.

ANAESTHETIC LEAD PRACTITIONER

One Ashford Hospital has a fantastic opportunity for a Anaesthetic Lead Practitioner to join our friendly and dynamic theatre team.

We are looking for an experienced, self-driven and motivated Anaesthetic Lead Practitioner to provide clear direction for the anaesthetic & recovery teams, supporting them to achieve their own personal goals and development.

The position also includes responsibility to lead in Hospital Resuscitation Standards of practice in line with the Resuscitation Council UK, including governance, audits, training and chairing the Resuscitation Committee with the support of the Director of Clinical Services.

HOURS: 37.5 per week, Monday to Friday with some Saturday shifts as required.

PLEASE NOTE: THIS JOB WILL START FROM 2ND JANUARY 2025.

QUALIFICATIONS

o ODP / RN with relevant qualifications. HCPC / NMC registration
o Advanced Life Support Qualification.


EXPERIENCE

o A minimum of 18 months experience at AfC band 6/7 or equivalent leadership role.
o Experience at managing a team.


SKILLS

o Sound written, numerical and verbal communication skills.
o Planning skills including risk management, audit, appraisals, PSIRF, delivering presentations.
o Able to make judgements involving complex facts or situations
o Sound computer skills using MS Office Suite with good Word and Excel Skills
o Flexibility and adaptability to meet the changing needs of the business
o Experience of customer care including interacting in challenging situations
o Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently as required


DESIRABLES

o Capabilities in 12 lead ECG, cannulation, cell salvage, catheterisation, scrub/surgical assistance
o Experience of working within a Finance Environment
o Experience of private healthcare


ANAESTHETIC LEAD PRACTITIONER

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

o Provide leadership and development by ensuring the use of evidence based practise and clinical standards.
o Provide a safe working environment for patients and team members.
o Ensure that pathways are delivered to the standard and quality expected of the hospital.
o Promote a culture of continuous improvement which focuses on the provision of high quality safe and effective care.
o Maintain CQC standards.
o Satisfactory audit and clinical practise and documentation.
o Completion of own and team members competencies assessment.
o Fulfil appraisal and performance review objectives.
o Ensure supplies and equipment are ordered/maintained and used. efficiently by liaising with the supplies team.
o Opportunity to deputise in absence of Theatre Manager.
o Participate in providing team rota if required.
o Assist new members of staff to effectively perform their role.
o Liaise with colleagues and stakeholders and report outcomes or needs to the relevant manager or team leader.
o Attend departmental meetings and read relevant communications while contributing to improving standards of services in line with the needs of the business.
