OVERALL SUMMARY

The role is within the Treasury (Debt Management) team, and the individual will be working closely with other functions in the Treasury team. Responsibilities includes administering and maintaining the loan and swap book, as well as assisting in debt/ treasury related activities.

Assistant Tax Manager (Maritime/Shipping)

Our client is a leading International shipping brand and are expanding their team in Singapore.

Key Responsibilities:

Tax Compliance and Reporting

• Manage the preparation and review of corporate income tax returns for international jurisdictions. Ensure compliance with global tax reporting requirements, including CbC (Country-by-Country) reporting and FATCA.
• Assist in the preparation of tax provisions for financial statements, including IFRS compliance. Transfer Pricing
• Support the development and implementation of transfer pricing policies and documentation. Conduct benchmarking studies and ensure compliance with local transfer pricing regulations. Collaborate with finance and legal teams to ensure intercompany pricing aligns with global standards.

Tax Planning and Research

• Assist in developing international tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities and support global operations. Research international tax law changes and provide recommendations for compliance and planning.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on tax-efficient structuring of cross-border transactions.

Audit and Risk Management

• Support international tax audits, including gathering documentation and responding to inquiries. Identify and mitigate tax risks related to international operations.
• Monitor BEPS-related developments and their impact on the organization.

Collaboration and Support -

• Act as a liaison between regional tax teams and the Global Tax Manager.
• Coordinate with external advisors to ensure timely and accurate deliverables.
• Provide guidance to regional tax teams on compliance and reporting requirements.
• Process Improvement and Technology
• Assist in streamlining tax processes and implementing automation tools.
• Support the integration of tax systems with ERP platforms to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Skills & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Tax, Finance, or related field.

• Professional Tax qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) is preferred.

• Minimum of 5 years of Tax experience, preferably in the shipping or maritime industry.

• Strong understanding of international and local tax principles.

• Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Country Finance Manager (Singapore Market role)

Our client is a leading Global MNC in the service industry with their regional HQ in Singapore.

This role will manage the finance, accounting and other areas as highlighted below and report into the regional finance director based in Singapore.

You should have strong controllership, FP&A business partnering and people management experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage departmental operating budgets and costs according to annual allocation to ensure efficient usage of resources.
• Oversee the financial management, accounting and reporting in the country, including implementation of finance frameworks, policies and processes in accordance with local/international accounting standards.
• Strategically plan and monitor the annual financial budget, capital expenditures, liquidity, funding, etc. to ensure optimal working capital and minimization of financial risks.
• Monitor financial performance against strategic goals by providing financial forecasts, reviews and analyses.
• Address forecast deviations and potential financial challenges (e.g. cash flows, debt levels, etc.)
• Oversee the implementation of risk management, compliance, limits of authority and internal control practices to ensure safeguarding of cash and physical assets and minimizing financial liabilities.
• Ensure corporate directives on limits of authority, budgeted costs and cost control initiatives are implemented and adhered to.
• Formulate investment strategies, hedging policies and cash management practices (including optimal transaction banking infrastructure) to maximize yields, cost savings and efficiencies.
• Drive continuous improvements in accounting, reporting and internal control processes/systems to improve value given to stakeholders.
• Partner with and support the Country Senior Leadership Team on all matters related to finance, corporate initiatives/projects and cross-Business Unit activities.
• Present the consolidated financial reports and analyses to key stakeholders for decision making, with recommendations on accounting treatment.
• Manage annual target setting process within local business.
• Ensure implementation of global templates, coordinate timetable for reviews, consolidate plans and prepare annual budget presentation.
• Monitor and provide analysis on country monthly performance based on various data sources to derive a consistent picture of current performance, key issues, and action items.
• Manage local business continuous improvement initiatives to streamline Business Unit controlling processes/reporting and improve efficiencies through a better utilization of automated systems.
• Drive high quality business control support to the country.
• Manage all local internal interactions across Business Units/Functions on matters related to business controlling to ensure timely understanding of financial performance and adequate management of any financial issues.
• Prepare the necessary financial information to support country on contractual negotiations, client/customer profitability analysis, internal and external presentations, issues tracking and management, investments, and other key developments.
• Prepare in-depth analyses and commentaries to facilitate discussions on key financial items such as advertising and promotion spend, working capital utilization and cost development.
• Prepare and present country monthly operations review.

Minimum Qualifications, Experience and KSA:

• Degree or professional qualification in Accounting/Finance or a related discipline
• CPA/CA preferred.
• At least 6 years’ relevant experience, with minimum 3 years’ management experience
• Relevant exposure to local and global retail environment and a proven track record of managing people, operations, and clients.
• Proven hands-on experience in SAGE accounting applications is an advantage.
