The Cardio-Respiratory Department at Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit an enthusiastic Chief Support Clinical Physiologist to join our busy, expanding multi-disciplinary team.
At the present time Wirral University Teaching Hospital has 8 Cardiologists and 7 Respiratory Physicians and is developing services in a variety of areas of the department.
The post would suit STP (with Invasive services as their chosen interest) students or individuals who are working towards their BHRS/IBHRE/EHRA accreditation and would be employed as an Annex 21. Once successful in achieving your BHRS/IBHRE/EHRA accreditation there will be a preceptorship to ensure you have the experience and skills that are necessary to independently work across all non-invasive services including line management duties.
• To deliver a wide range of the technical diagnostics without direct supervision within the Cardiac Physiology Service including, but not limited to: Electrocardiography, Ambulatory ECG and BP monitoring & analysis, HUTT testing, Exercise ECG testing, Cardioversion, Angiography, Pacemaker implant & follow–up, ILR implant and follow-up.
• To ensure adequate monitoring of patients during investigations and interventions.
• To be aware of adverse clinical conditions or events occurring during investigations and to take swift and appropriate action to prevent life threatening or significant medical events.
• Ensure patients are monitored appropriately during investigations and procedures. Be aware of adverse clinical conditions/clinical occurrences during investigations,
ensuring swift and appropriate action is taken to prevent or treat life-threatening events. Carry out Immediate Life Support (including CPR and unsupervised defibrillation as appropriate) in the event of any cardiac arrest.
• To check stock levels and manage stock control.
• Lead device follow-up clinics for pacemakers/complex devices to assess pacemaker function and independently programme generators accordingly. Producing a clinical report of the findings. Face to face or via remote monitoring.
• Refer pacemaker patients to Cardiologist for box change when appropriate.
• The post holder will be responsible for the accurate, speedy handling of sterile equipment during pacemaker implants / Angiography.
• To analyse and report adverse events for invasive Blood Pressure and ECG Monitoring data.
