The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) IV Chief Nurse - Medical Director practices in the Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) Service, under the direction of the Chief of CBOC, in concert with the Chief of Staff. They provide a full range of services emphasizing quality, timeliness, and advancing the Veterans Affairs (VA) mission. The Chief APN- Medical Director executes leadership that is characterized by substantial and continuous responsibility and accountability for population groups or integrated programs that cross services and/or disciplines and influence the organization's mission and health care. Duties include but are not limited to the following:
Executive leadership characterized by substantial and continuous responsibility and accountability for assigned CBOC and programs that cross services and/or discipline lines and influence organizational mission and health care. The Chief APN- Medical Director is responsible for leadership of clinical and administrative staff, supervise other supervisors within the clinic with direct responsibility for primary care, mental health, laboratory, social work and matrixed responsibility for logistics of other clinical services residing within the CBOC. Establishes and maintains effective relationships with all levels of medical center personnel and relates effectively with customers, families and the community. Provides input in the strategic plan, budget, mission, operations, and policy development. Utilizes current trends and relevant theories in an analytical framework to implement, and measure activities to achieve clinical and administrative goals. Evaluates outcomes against strategic priorities. Demonstrates substantial and continuous responsibility for directing and managing clinical operations. Serves as a consultant to staff in areas of expertise. Demonstrates grade-appropriate, consistent critical thinking skills. Support staff participation in interdisciplinary work groups. Fosters a climate for practice that enhances job satisfaction through mutual responsibility for productivity and quality improvement. Manages planned and imposed change effectively, assisting staff within the service to move through the change process. Assesses, implements, and evaluates professional standards of clinical practice and ensures compliance with accrediting and regulatory bodies. Leads within a High-Reliability Organization (HRO) framework.

You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards
