The role
As the Head of Vetting, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. Your expertise will be crucial in maintaining the integrity and security of our operations, by ensuring that our workforce is thoroughly vetted and trusted.
Day to day, you will be reporting to the Personnel Security Director as well as:
- Provide subject matter expertise on all screening and vetting issues, leading the vetting function and managing the central vetting team.
- Shape and ensure compliance with Babcock's screening and vetting policies and processes, and in accordance with HMG IPSA policy.
- Engage with stakeholders to explain security clearance requirements and promote security as an enabler.
- Act as the escalation point for complex security clearance and vetting queries.
- Manage Insider Risk by supporting responses to complex Personnel Security cases and representing the Vetting function within the Insider Risk Working Group.
- Serving as Senior Vetting Administrator, support the delivery and management of a single vetting database for the UK business.
This role is full time working 37.5 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.
Essential experience of the Head of Vetting:
- Experience within a security vetting environment with strong knowledge of personnel security principles.
- Proven ability to lead and develop teams, including remotely.
- In-depth knowledge of HMG security clearance policies and processes (National Security Vetting, BPSS, IPSA).
- Ability to engage and secure buy-in from stakeholders across organisational boundaries.
- Skilled in implementing change in people, structures, and processes, addressing concerns and overcoming resistance.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills, with discretion in handling sensitive personal information and personal circumstances.

- The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
