Senior Asset Building Surveyor
Hybrid role - from our office at Leeds or Newcastle Upon Tyne and from home. You'll work across our national property portfolio with expected national travel couple of days a month

Join us in our fantastic role of Senior Asset Building Surveyor and support us in the delivery of our asset programme to maintain high quality homes with long-term investment plans for our properties. In this exciting new role, you can make a big impact leading the delivery of our schemes from governance stages through to start on site. As our internal technical expert on building construction, defects and inspections, you’ll bring creative solutions to guide and lead our team of Surveyors, working with stakeholders to work through options and best solutions for our programme.
Typical day as a Senior Asset Building Surveyor
- Delivering our programme of housing, refurbishment and remediation works to properties, ensuring, governance approvals are in place, budget control and objectives are fully met. You’ll successfully lead a team of Surveyors, guiding, developing and making it a great place to work for them.
- Reviewing our portfolio and ensuring investment plans are in place for each individual site and estate, liaising with internal colleagues and key stakeholders to work up programmes and budgets.
- Developing our long-term survey requirements so we can meet future business needs including supporting survey programmes, property inspections and ensuring quality assurance is high and data collected is accurate.
- Ensuring we have a good commercial understanding of our assets by reviewing, evaluating, and carrying out financial appraisal of schemes, achieving the best possible outcome with realistic solutions.
- Driving positive working relationships with contractors, influencing appropriately to ensure a win-win outcome around complex schemes.

You have
- Experience of working on projects (private or public sector) as a Building/Projects Surveyor or similar including investigating diagnosing and conducting complex property condition surveys, inspections, specifying remediation works and working with external partners. Experience of managing surveying teams and working within a construction environment.
- A proven ability to keep work demands on track and within budget through motivating others and working at pace. You can balance competing priorities, take information from others and analyse to help inform a decision.
- Be MRICS or MCIOB, accredited Building Surveying degree or equivalent and strong experience in building surveying and investment planning built up through your working profession.
- A current knowledge of building construction, design and CDM requirements as well as relevant codes of practice, building regulations, health and safety legislation, standards and materials.
- An eye for detail, be a great influencer and have creative spark to think outside the box on how things can be done more efficiently.

You’ll join John and Vik in our Building Surveying and Asset Delivery team, we’re super passionate about what we do! We have delivered £1million property conversions, multi-million portfolio refurbishments and remedial works projects, and have a significant retrofit programme underway. We work nationally to resolve the most challenging projects and are a team who work hard to solve problems together. We’re a supportive bunch and are looking for someone to help identify and drive forward the next stage of our work programme.
Job details
- Full time, 37.5 hpw Monday to Friday. You’ll manage your own diary. If you need a break to take delivery of your new fridge or take a longer lunch for a haircut, you can use your flexi time to manage that!
- Flexible hybrid working, from our office at Leeds or Newcastle Upon Tyne (flexible on which office you are based from) and across our national portfolio. Typical travel will be a couple of days a month.
- A full current driving licence and access to a vehicle for work, we’ll pay for your mileage.
