Very exciting senior commercial role within one of the leading highways contractors in the North West of England. Seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team to be based out of Leyland.

About the role of Senior Quantity Surveyor

The role involves mentoring and providing guidance to intermediate and assistant quantity surveyors while fostering strong, collaborative relationships with key clients. It requires maintaining rigorous commercial control across all areas of the business and working closely with the operational team to achieve project and framework financial objectives.

The role will require an element of travel.

Responsibilities for Senior Quantity Surveyor

Cost Management

• Prepare, review and update detailed cost estimates and budgets for projects
• Monitor project expenditures, analyse variances and implement cost saving measures
• Delivery of the end-to-end commercial process for a project, owning the commercial aspects of the scheme from enquiry receipt, though estimating and delivery and until final account close-out.
• Deal effectively in managing work in progress to achieve project cash flow forecasts.
• Produce and deliver monthly CVR's to senior managers, producing accurate forecasts of cost and value at completion of the project.
• Submit and agree CE's in a timely fashion and maintain CE Registers and/or CEMAR.

Contract Administration

• Manage the preparation of contract documents, including bills of quantities and scopes of work.
• Oversee contract negotiations and review terms to ensure compliance with legal and company standards.
• Handle contractual disputes, claims, and variations, providing expert advice to resolve issues effectively.
• Complete timely applications and response to Client queries to achieve project cash flow forecasts.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

• Respond to Client requests promptly, effectively, and professionally
• To demonstrate the up most integrity and respect in all aspects of day-to-day commercial management of the business.
• Resolution of any issues arising with the Client in relation to either change events or applications, at all time's protecting the company's interests whilst at the same time acting collaboratively and protecting relationships with our client
• Represent the company in meetings, ensuring a high level of client satisfaction and trust.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.

Team Leadership & Development

• Mentor and support junior and intermediate quantity surveyors, providing guidance and training.

Requirements for Senior Quantity Surveyor

• BSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent
• Extensive experience as a Quantity Surveyor on Civil Engineering Highways projects
• Strong knowledge of NEC Contracts
• Full UK right to work
• UK Drivers license

Key Responsibilities:

Requirements:
Experience:
Significant experience in a Quantity Surveyor role, ideally with a background in main contracting and working on refurbishment and fit-out projects. Experience in the education, healthcare, and public sector is highly desirable.
Skills:
Strong commercial and contractual awareness, with the ability to navigate complex contract details, manage claims, and implement value engineering strategies.

Qualifications:
A relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying is preferred, although not essential if you have proven experience in a similar role.
Driving License:
A full, clean UK driving license is essential for this role, as the role will require occasional travel to various sites.
Location Flexibility:
Based in the Oldham area or nearby, with the ability to travel across the North West and further afield for site visits and client meetings.

About the role

As a Senior Care Assistant at MHA, you will lead and inspire a team of committed care assistants to provide the highest quality of care to our residents enabling them to live later life well. Duties will be varied and include supporting our residents with personal care needs and helping them to take part in a wide range of activities that support their health and wellbeing. In addition, you will administer medication and maintain clear and accurate records. Every day will be different, and you'll have the opportunity to use your leadership and people skills to make a real difference.

About you

As a Senior Care Assistant, you will be passionate about caring for older people, have previous care experience and, as a minimum, hold an NVQ level 2 or equivalent in health and social care and be willing to complete level 3. In addition, you will have experience leading, coaching and motivating a team to deliver high quality care. You will have a kind, warm and caring nature and be able to work well as part of a team but also use your own initiative.

Secretarial: To prepare and distribute documents by using the patient administration system (Systmone) and Microsoft office software (letters, memos, reports, discharge summaries, etc) ensuring that all policies and procedures are adhered to. To provide a telephone reception service and deal with telephone calls, correspondence and other internal or external agencies in an appropriate and professional manner, using judgement and discretion where necessary and to refer clinical matters to relevant members of the clinical team. Deal with outgoing and incoming correspondence, ensuring that incoming mail is distributed as quickly as possible. To organise and attend meetings as directed for the team, including hospitality, preparing reports, agendas, taking minutes/notes. Co-ordinate travel and accommodation arrangements. Record Keeping: To maintain a filing system and to record the movement of clients case notes according to Trust policies and procedures, ensuring that confidentiality of patient information is maintained at all times. To be responsible for responding to requests for patient records including tracking and reporting of activity to Trust HQ and the team manager in line with information governance procedures. To assist in carrying out a quarterly or annual audit of client case notes and act in accordance with the Data Protection Act. To ensure that all relevant paperwork is filed correctly in client files including scanning. To maintain and update information on the clinical database including but not limited to processing of referrals and minimum data maintenance. To liaise with staff in the prison, other sectors across the Trust and external agencies as required. To treat information received in the course of duties as confidential, and to ensure that such information is not revealed to unauthorised personnel. Administration and Management of Resources: To be responsible for the day to day management of the office and the development, implementation and maintenance of office practices and procedures. To participate in local induction of new employees to the team. To collect and input statistical information using a spreadsheet, database or dedicated Patient information system ensuring that all information is readily available for presentation and use on a regular basis.. To monitor and maintain levels of materials and equipment necessary for the service provision including stationary and office equipment, prepare requisitions for authorisation, process delivery notes, and invoices and to ensure the secure storage and distribution of stationery requirements of the team within the laid down timescales. To have an understanding of health and safety regulation and assist in maintaining a safe environment for clients and visitors to the department in accordance with fire, health and safety procedures. Communication: To act as first point of liaison with all Partner Agencies, and professionals to ensure the smooth running of the team and sharing of relevant information in respect of patients. Develop good working relationships and practices with all prison and NHS staff and external agencies. To liaise with all professionals and ensure the smooth running of EOS and to develop good working practices and relationships within the team. To be knowledgeable and able to communicate effectively with patients/residents and being sensitive to their particular circumstances. To be responsible for ensuring a full and effective communication system exists throughout the department.
