To support the Senior Sister / Charge Nurse / Senior ODP, acting as a deputy when the Senior Sister / Charge Nurse / Senior ODP is absent. In areas within the organisation Nurses / ODPs may be banded at 6 by virtue clinical reasons, for example, critical care. Provide effective support and leadership to both staff, patients and carers within the Theatre or Department. Act as role model, teacher and supervisor for junior staff and students. Ensure systems are in place to provide the continuity of safe effective care for patients at all times. The post holder is expected to understand and apply the Patient Access Policy to their everyday activity, ensuring that patients are managed fairly and contributing to the ability of the Trust to maintain waiting time targets. The Waiting List Office administrative service will contribute towards a systematic approach to delivering the NHS Plan commitments for access to elective and day case surgery, specifically the drive to guarantee maximum waiting times and introduce Patient Choice through booking systems. The sensitivity around clinical and management priorities will require the post holder to work with and have the confidence of Consultants and Directorate Managers. Communication with patients will be proactive, inviting discussion and consultation around their preferences and availability. Patient focus and Customer Care will be a fundamental element of the service, delivered via written, telephone and face to face contact. Patient confidentiality must be observed at all times. The post holder is the line manager to the Waiting List Office Team.. It carries specific responsibilities for ensuring the systems and procedures used by the team are operating effectively and within the context of the Trusts policies and priorities. The post holder will be accountable for ensuring that patients at risk of breaching are managed under the supervision of the appropriate Directorate Manager for the relevant specialty. You should be self-motivated, reliable and well organised with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Be able to demonstrate secretarial experience with appropriate qualifications, be able to work efficiently and methodically with good attention to detail without direct supervision. Responsible for the day to day management of the administrative/secretarial team, including supervision of the administrative staff, delegation of tasks and co-ordination of annual leave and undertake appraisals of junior staff. Contribute to a comprehensive efficient and effective administrative and clerical service. Contribute to a consistently high standard of patient care as a member of a multi-disciplinary team. The opportunity.

Our Quantexa Delivery team is all about contextualizing data. As a senior data engineer, you bring it all together. Working within a fast-paced team, you'll implement Quantexa’s innovative technology for an ever-expanding list of domains including banking, insurance, government, healthcare. From building an end-to-end data pipeline that uses our award-winning software, to configuring our decision-making platform to detect key insights, there’s always a new challenge around the corner.  

You’ll need to be a problem solver. The challenges we tackle are big, but they're also incredibly rewarding. Your contributions in managing, transforming, and cleansing high volume data help our clients solve business problems in areas including fraud, financial crime, data management, risk and customer intelligence.

 

What you’ll be doing.

• Writing defensive, fault tolerant and efficient code for production level data processing systems.
• Configuring and deploying Quantexa software using tools such as Spark, Hadoop, Scala, Elasticsearch, with our platform being hosted on both private and public virtual clouds, such as Google cloud, Microsoft Azure and Amazon.
• You’ll be a trusted source of knowledge for your clients. And you’ll articulate technical concepts to a non-technical audience so they can make key decisions.
• Collaborate with both our solution architects and our R&D engineers to champion solutions and standards for complex big data challenges. You proactively promote knowledge sharing and ensure best practice is followed.

What you’ll bring.

• You’ll have a background in hands-on technical development, with at least three years of industry experience in a data engineering role or equivalent, and preferably at least four years of software industry experience.
• Proficiency in Scala, java, python, or a programming language associated with data engineering. Our primary language is Scala, but don’t worry if that’s not currently your strongest language. We believe that strong engineering principles are universal and transferable.
• As an expert in building and deploying production level data processing batch systems, you’ll share an appreciation of what makes a high quality, operationally stable system and how to streamline all areas of development, release, and operations to achieve this. 
• Experience with a variety of modern development tooling (e.g. Git, Gradle, Nexus) and technologies supporting automation and DevOps (e.g. Jenkins, Docker and a little bit of good old Bash scripting). You’ll be familiar with developing within a version-controlled process that regularly makes use of these tools and technologies.
• A strong technical communication ability with demonstrable experience of working in rapidly changing client environments. 
• Knowledge of testing libraries of common programming languages (such as ScalaTest or equivalent). Importantly, you’ll know the difference between varying test types (unit test, integration test) and can cite specific examples of what they have written themselves.
