Everton in the Community is one of the UK's top sporting charities, offering more than 60 programmes covering a range of social issues including health, employability, anti-social behaviour, crime, education, dementia, poverty, youth engagement, youth justice and disability.

In 2023, a purpose-built mental health and wellbeing hub, The People’s Place was established as part of the charity’s work. Since then, for nine months of the year, two trainee clinical psychologists from Lancaster University have been based there. Their work has involved working with individual service users, running groups, developing materials and bringing a psychological perspective to the broader work of the organisation.

The psychologist funded by this programme will work alongside the trainees, helping to run groups, to support other programmes by bringing a psychological perspective and to develop materials for patients, and contributing to service evaluation and audit.

Support of patients in managing incontinence and promotion of continence Recording of a patients fluid intake and output using fluid balance charts Preparation and serving of patients meals, drinks and snacks, assisting and feeding patients as necessary Recording of patients dietary intake when indicated in the patients plan of care Enable patients to maintain/improve their mobility by use of exercise and mobility appliances Assist in the prevention of pressure sore development as directed by the registered nurse in conjunction with the patients plan of care. Removal of cannulae, catheters and nasogastric tubes Undertake the dressing of non-complex wounds (in accordance with identified competencies and in conjunction with the plan of care) *For a full list of duties, please refer to the attached job description*

Assist in maintaining a safe and clean environment, helping to prevent the spread of infection by clearing vacated bed spaces and preparation for re-use, cleaning equipment between patient use and following the trust guidelines for personal protective equipment You will need to be hard working, flexible, kind and caring in order to deliver safe and effective patient centred care to our patients families and carers. As part of a team you will need good organisational skills and be able to demonstrate good communication. Some experience of care work is essential for this post
