This is an opportunity under the Internship Program under Pathways. The Internship Program provides students enrolled in high schools, colleges, trade schools & other qualifying educational institutions with paid opportunities to work in agencies & explore Federal careers while completing their education. The Budget Division (DOB), situated within the NSF Office of Budget, Finance, and Award Management (BFA), has Foundation-wide responsibility for long-range budget planning; program analysis; budget preparation, presentation, and execution activities; and analytic studies related to budget and program activities. As a STUDENT TRAINEE (MANAGEMENT ANALYST), you will perform the following duties:
- The incumbent is responsible for developing and preparing plans and programs for carrying out responsibilities on an organization-wide basis, determining methods to be used, approaches to be taken, resolving conflicts that arise, consulting with the supervisor where policy has not been established and coordinating work with program officials and external groups.
- Participating in conducting research and analyzing information on a variety of NSF's administrative policies and procedures as they pertain to BFA's business activities and develops summaries.
- Participating with BFA staff in conducting periodic studies and reviews to evaluate internal policies and operating procedures for efficiency and consistency with BFA and NSF's administrative policies and procedures; and assisting in making recommendation to ensure compliance with BFA and NSF guidance.
- Assisting in implementing, and reviewing revised policies and operational procedures to evaluate effectiveness in supporting substantive BFA administrative objectives and support functions.
- Providing support in creating and updating organization SharePoint collaboration pages.
- Participating in the development of the SharePoint collaboration, as well as the content management.
- Participating in aiding the division with the electronic official records storage structure.
- Assisting in the design and development in web applications for internal and external websites in support of the mission of the organization, BFA and the agency.
- Assisting in the management of BFA's communications tools per established NSF policy and in collaboration with OLPA and other external offices, as necessary. Creating new content and repurposes content in a format appropriate to each tool.
- Editing documents to ensure accuracy and clarity and correct formatting, grammar, and spelling for select, important BFA written products. Assisting in identifying critical opportunities to publicize BFA activities.
- The analyst keeps the supervisor informed of progress, potential controversies, or wide-ranging implications. Completed work is reviewed in terms of satisfying expected results of projects or assignments, responsiveness, and conformance with agency policy.
