The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for the financial health and sustainability of the organization. This executive role involves managing the company's economic strategy, overseeing financial planning and analysis, risk management, record-keeping, and financial reporting. The CFO is critical in influencing the company's strategic direction, investment decisions, and long-term financial planning.
Key Responsibilities/Duties
- Manage the company's financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and auditing.
- Ensure that the financial transactions, policies, and procedures meet the organization's short and long-term business objectives and are conducted in accordance with regulations, accounting principles, and standards.
- Develop and implement the financial strategy of the company. This includes long-term financial planning and forecasting, risk management, and investment strategies.
- Oversee the preparation and communication of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
- Ensure the timely reporting of key financial data and updates to the Managing Director, Board of Directors, and other key stakeholders.
- Ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions. This includes tax planning and compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations.
- Direct the Finance and accounting team, to ensure ongoing improvements in processes as well as their ongoing professional development and training.
- Any other duties assigned from time to time by the Management.
Primary Objectives
- Analyze and forecast financial performance and business trends to inform strategic decision-making.
- Monitor and analyze financial performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
- Identify, assess, and manage financial risks, ensuring appropriate risk mitigation strategies are in place.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
- Oversee internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial data.
- Oversee cash flow management, investment activities, and capital structure decisions.
- Manage relationships with external auditors, banks, and other financial institutions.
- Optimize financial processes and systems to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Lead and mentor the finance and accounting team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
- Develop and implement training programs to enhance the financial acumen of the organization.
- Perform ad hoc tasks assigned from time to time
Qualification Requirement
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (MBA or advanced degree is a plus).
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent professional qualification.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible financial leadership experience, including prior experience as a Finance Manager.
- Preferred background in the food & beverage, hotel, and resort industry.
- Strong knowledge of corporate finance, accounting principles, financial regulations, and risk management practices.
- Demonstrated expertise in governance, with a deep understanding of regulatory compliance and corporate ethics.
- Familiarity with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, with experience in implementing sustainability initiatives.
- Proven track record of strategic financial management and leadership.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in managing investor relations and fundraising activities is a plus.
