About the CMA
We help people, businesses, and the UK economy by promoting competitive markets and tackling unfair behaviour. Our work is wide ranging, ambitious and often new and challenging.
The Digital Markets Unit has been established to promote greater competition and innovation in digital markets, for the benefit of consumers and people. Our work focuses on some of the most important digital markets used by consumers and business in the UK, like online search, social media, app stores and online marketplaces.
What you will do
You will work closely with economists, legal, business and finance advisers across the CMA as part of a multidisciplinary team. Your key responsibilities will include:
• Leading and/or project managing the day-to-day delivery of a case
• Monitoring milestones, planning and driving workstreams forward to ensure quality and pace of the project is maintained
• Leading and contributing to the drafting and preparation of key documents, including correspondence, requests for information, internal papers and published reports
• Leading the engagement and management of key strategic relationships, including communications with stakeholders and other regulators
• Working closely with colleagues across the CMA to build our understanding and evidence base in key digital sectors
• Working closely with colleagues across the CMA to review a range of qualitative and quantitative evidence to assess which digital firms have ‘Strategic Market Status’
• Working closely with colleagues on setting the rules to be placed on digital firms to address market power and promote competition
What you will need
Experience of leading work within multi-disciplinary teams to successfully manage and deliver case work (or project work) including managing others to deliver results within challenging timeframes is essential.
You will also need experience of developing and drafting recommendations by drawing on analysis of a wide range of information and identifying and communicating key risks.
We are interested in candidates from a range of backgrounds with transferable skills. This could include regulatory, legal or investigatory case management experience. Equally, any previous experience in the following fields could be beneficial: project management and delivery, research, policy, government, regulatory, or economics.
