An important piece to delivering exceptional patient care falls on medical imaging, the team that helps with detection and diagnosis and treatment of illness and abnormalities. Our Medical Imaging Assistants are a major component of our success to meet throughput and offer high caliber patient care. This position assists in daily operations of the Medical Imaging Department under direct supervision with technologists in the department. 

They work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a strong focus on patient care. Must be able to navigate a variety of separate computer programs at any given time and handle multiple tasks. As an MIA you will help organize work flow, assist the Technologist with transferring patients to exam table, cleaning workspaces, stocking rooms, transporting patients, if necessary, all while having face to face contact with patients. May assist with patient treatment to include peripheral IV insertion, IV discontinuation and Point of Care Testing (POCT) if required by facility.

Diagnostic Imaging at Banner University Medical Center - Phoenix is busy, fast paced, and gives you the opportunity to do what you do best: Providing excellent care for patients.  Technologists here use state of the art digital imaging equipment to perform over 350 exams per day.   Our department supports Diagnostic Imaging services for Inpatients, Outpatients, and Patients in the Ortho/Spine Clinic and the Oral/Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic.

Hours: 2x10's; Saturday & Sunday 7:30a-6:00p

POSITION SUMMARY
This position assists technologists and/or nurses in department by performing non-technical, patient and procedure-related duties in accordance with department/facility policies and procedures. This position is also responsible for a variety of clerical and administrative support functions and customer service for an assigned patient care area which promote an organized, efficient delivery of care to patients.

CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Performs a variety of tasks and functions associated with the department’s daily operations, including but not limited to, greeting patients, medical staff and the public, answering incoming telephone calls, scheduling appointments, entering orders and providing general information to customers. Participates in the resolution of customer problems or collects necessary data and follows through to appropriate person for problem resolution. Refers complex inquiries to the appropriate department or staff. Provides ongoing clerical and administrative support.

2. Enters patient information into the computer, scans documents into PACS. Maintains a complete patient record with admission, transfer, and discharge information, progress notes, and consent forms. Ensures that all reports and chart forms are scanned or filed into the patient’s record. Ensures that charting forms are labeled and accessible if they are needed. Maintains adequate supplies of frequently used, patient education materials. May be responsible for QC/validations. Assists in facilitating requests for patient medical records.

3. Provides support in the acquisition and distribution of digital patient records. Digitizes, formats, and uploads film-based or digital images into PACS. Maintains accurate filling system as required based on established department protocols and procedures.

4. Fulfills requests for images and reports ensuring availability in system, hard copy (film), and/or CD as required and follows proper protocols for releasing confidential patient information.

5. Receives patient in applicable systems, confirms patient demographics and insurance information and performs insurance verification when required. May be required to calculate and collect copays, deductibles, and self-pay. Totals charges on patient’s super-bill at check-out. Enters pending discharges into the system. Coordinates patient appointments for procedures and treatments that may be required prior to timely discharge. Processes patient discharges. Coordinates transportation to care centers and residential homes as requested by patients or physicians.

6. Prints physician schedules, super-bills, labels and other applicable forms in preparation for next business day. Pulls and files patient charts and prepares new patient charts as needed. Prints and files transcription notes. Reconciles charge tickets to each day's schedule, identifies incomplete tickets, missing charge codes or missing diagnosis and notifies clinical staff. Forwards completed tickets and/or billing package to the business office or billing company.

7. Assists technologists and nurses in pre and post procedure room preparation by obtaining necessary supplies and assisting patients as necessary. Ensures procedure rooms are stocked appropriately. Understand sterile procedure and assists with setting up sterile trays, where applicable. Adheres to radiation safety policies. Escorts patients back to the patient exam rooms, takes vitals and patient history; may assist with patient treatment to include peripheral IV insertion, IV discontinuation and Point of Care Testing (POCT) if required by the assigned facility (completion of Banner’s peripheral IV insertion course and validation of skill must be completed prior to any peripheral IV insertion and discontinuation performed. Completion of Banner’s POCT education and validation of skill must be completed prior to any Point of Care Testing being performed).

8. Maintains adequate levels of office, dietary, and medical supplies and completes requisition forms when supplies need to be ordered. Reconciles supply order upon delivery.

9. This position assists in the operations of the medical imaging department under direct supervision with technologists and nurses in department. Incumbents work in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment with a strong focus on customer service. Must navigate a variety of separate computer programs at any given time and handle multiple demands on time. Internal customers: All levels of medical imaging and nursing management and staff, medical staff, and all other members of the interdisciplinary health care team. External Customers: regulatory and health agencies, non-clinic providers and facilities, vendors, patients and family members.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.

Certification for BLS is required.

Must be able to exercise good judgment, effectively communicate, and use discretion with patients, staff and the general public. Working knowledge of medical terminology and computer literacy is required. The position requires knowledge of commonly used office software and keyboarding skills. Good organizational skills are essential in prioritizing and coordinating various responsibilities simultaneously. Must have the ability to handle ongoing face-to-face contact with patients and staff while functioning in a busy medical office environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Prior experience as a transporter, EMT and/or nursing assistant preferred. Working knowledge of medical terminology is preferred. Previous experience working with electronic medical records and insurance is preferred. Knowledge of filing and/or retrieval systems preferred.

POSITION SUMMARY

POSITION SUMMARY

5. Receives patient in applicable systems, confirms patient demographics and insurance information and performs insurance verification when required. May be required to calculate and collect copays, deductibles, and self-pay. Totals charges on patient’s super-bill at check-out. Enters pending discharges into the system. Coordinates patient appointments for procedures and treatments that may be required prior to timely discharge. Processes patient discharges. Coordinates transportation to care centers and residential homes as requested by patients or physicians.

6. Prints physician schedules, super-bills, labels and other applicable forms in preparation for next business day. Pulls and files patient charts and prepares new patient charts as needed. Prints and files transcription notes. Reconciles charge tickets to each day's schedule, identifies incomplete tickets, missing charge codes or missing diagnosis and notifies clinical staff. Forwards completed tickets and/or billing package to the business office or billing company.

7. Assists technologists and nurses in pre and post procedure room preparation by obtaining necessary supplies and assisting patients as necessary. Ensures procedure rooms are stocked appropriately. Understand sterile procedure and assists with setting up sterile trays, where applicable. Adheres to radiation safety policies. Escorts patients back to the patient exam rooms, takes vitals and patient history; may assist with patient treatment to include peripheral IV insertion, IV discontinuation and Point of Care Testing (POCT) if required by the assigned facility (completion of Banner’s peripheral IV insertion course and validation of skill must be completed prior to any peripheral IV insertion and discontinuation performed. POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides routine patient care to promote patient comfort and contribute to the overall patient plan of care. POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides routine patient care to promote patient comfort and contribute to the overall patient plan of care. Performs procedures and uses equipment as delegated by a licensed professional, consistent with demonstrated competencies and according to state scope of practice; procedures may include blood draws, foley catheters removal, EKGs, and EKG monitoring. Provides necessary supplies, support and assistance to medical staff and patients for unit specific procedures, under the direct supervision of a licensed professional.

5. Performs receptionist/clerical duties to support overall operating efficiency and effective flow of communication and information throughout the department. Participates in the resolution of customer problems or collects necessary data and follows through to appropriate person for problem resolution.

6. Maintains a complete patient record with admission, transfer, and discharge information, progress notes, and consent forms. Ensures that all reports and chart forms are scanned or filed into the patient’s record. Ensures that charting forms are labeled and accessible if they are needed. Maintains adequate supplies of frequently used, patient education materials. Assists in the ordering of patient specimens. May transcribe and process physician orders effectively using the electronic medical record.

7. Maintains adequate levels of office, dietary, and medical supplies and completes requisition forms when supplies need to be ordered. Reconciles supply order upon delivery. Monitors and tracks the use and whereabouts of electronic equipment such as patient ID scanners and lap top computers. Ensures that all are accounted for and in working order.

8. Based on area of assignment may assist with transporting patients, including pre-operative and immediate post-operative patients to critical care unit. Participates in OR room turnover.

The Banner Baywood Neuro-Stroke PCU is nationally certified as a Primary Stroke Unit by the Joint Commission. It is a three-wing, 74-bed telemetry unit that provides acute care for all stroke and neuro patients as well as cardiac, medical, and post-surgical patients. While this is a challenging, high-acuity unit, the potential for learning and growth is unmatched. We offer support to help grow any of our PCA’s into the nursing pathway or other healthcare pathways that we can offer within Banner.

As a Banner Baywood Neuro PCU Certified Patient Care Assistant- PCA you are an integral part of our wonderful culture. You will have the opportunity to provide specialized care for adult patients who require continuous telemetry monitoring. Our diverse patient population includes patients with neurological disease processes, post-op craniotomies, and stroke patients. Generally, there is a 1/8-12 patient ratio. The Cardiovascular PCU is 24-bed Progressive Care Unit that provides care for an adult cardiovascular patient population. This Unit works with a multitude of services such as General Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, Cardiac Electrophysiology Infectious Disease, Pulmonology, Vascular Surgery, Internal Medicine, and Hospitalists. Specialty care includes, but is not limited to, post heart catheterization, pacemaker placement and management, heart failure, cardiac telemetry cardiac bypass, vascular surgeries and many more.

You will work in both our 15-bed private room unit as well as our 29-bed semi-private room unit utilizing your knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills to assess data, plan and provide high quality, safe and efficient care for our patients.  The patients cared for on these units have a variety of medical conditions that allow nurses to continually grown in their abilities.  Whether a patient who is post-surgical or one who is battling a COPD exacerbation, pneumonia, pancreatitis, renal failure or hypoxia; you will have the opportunity to drive their plan of care and maximize your nursing practice.  Watch this video to hear from the current nursing staff and learn more about what Banner Del E. This is a full time day shift position from 6am-6:30pm. This position offers a weekend schedule which is eligible for a flat rate $1/hour weekend shift differential and on nights an 18% night differential.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position provides routine patient care to promote patient comfort and contribute to the overall patient plan of care. This position is responsible for on-going patient data collection and documentation in the medical records and provides a variety of unit support functions which contribute to the overall efficient operation of the nursing unit/department.

CORE FUNCTIONS
1. Provides assistance in activities of daily living and completes necessary tasks to promote patient health, including assisting patients with basic hygiene needs, maintaining an optimum level of mobility and providing assistance with nutritional intake as needed.

2. Collects patient specimens and data, including vital signs, input/output and other delegated measurements in accordance with unit/facility policy and standards of care. Documents objective data and routine aspects of patient care. Assists in the transportation of patient specimens.

3. Recognizes and reports abnormalities and/or changes in the patient’s health status and responses to treatment to a licensed professional. Promotes continuity of care by accurately and completely communicating to other caregivers the status of patients for which care is provided.

4. Performs procedures and uses equipment as delegated by a licensed professional, consistent with demonstrated competencies and according to state scope of practice; procedures may include blood draws, foley catheters removal, EKGs, and EKG monitoring. Provides necessary supplies, support and assistance to medical staff and patients for unit specific procedures, under the direct supervision of a licensed professional.

5. Performs receptionist/clerical duties to support overall operating efficiency and effective flow of communication and information throughout the department. Participates in the resolution of customer problems or collects necessary data and follows through to appropriate person for problem resolution.

6. Maintains a complete patient record with admission, transfer, and discharge information, progress notes, and consent forms. Ensures that all reports and chart forms are scanned or filed into the patient’s record. Ensures that charting forms are labeled and accessible if they are needed. Maintains adequate supplies of frequently used, patient education materials. Assists in the ordering of patient specimens. May transcribe and process physician orders effectively using the electronic medical record.

7. Maintains adequate levels of office, dietary, and medical supplies and completes requisition forms when supplies need to be ordered. Reconciles supply order upon delivery. Monitors and tracks the use and whereabouts of electronic equipment such as patient ID scanners and lap top computers. Ensures that all are accounted for and in working order.

8. Based on area of assignment may assist with transporting patients, including pre-operative and immediate post-operative patients to critical care unit. Participates in OR room turnover.

9. This position works under supervision and has responsibility for assigned unit only. Incumbents work in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment with a strong focus on customer service. Interacts with staff at all levels throughout the facility, as well as patients, families and physicians

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.

Current BLS certification is required. Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in state of practice is required for new hires and transfers. In Tucson: Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in state of practice is required for new hires. Existing Tucson incumbents may not transfer out of their geographical market without meeting the CNA requirement. Requires skills and abilities typically attained with 1 year of medical clerical experience; preferably in a hospital or physician office setting, or prior experience in customer service. Must possess excellent organizational skills, as well as effective human relations and communication skills. Working knowledge of medical terminology and computer literacy and keyboarding skills is required.

Depending on department assignment, receive a minimum passing score of 85% on ECG or EEG test with accurate identification of all lethal cardiac dysrhythmias and epileptiform activity is required. Successful completion of either a unit approved basic electrocardiogram interpretation course or electroencephalographic interpretation course, or on the job training is also required.

Employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital or BTMC Behavioral must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment.

Employees working at BUMG, BUMCT, or BUMCS in a Behavioral Health clinical setting that serves children must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment. Employees working for Banner Home Care/Hospice or Boswell Skilled Nursing Facility must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
In Arizona the Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) licensure is preferred. Recent healthcare experience preferred. Successful completion of an approved unit secretary program is preferred.

Our Team is looking to help mentor and teach a motivated applicant interested in growing within the clinical trials space. In this position you will play an integral role in the support and execution of multiple clinical trials, at the direction of a Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) and Clinical Trials Leadership Team.  The workplace day to day will consist of supporting the CRC with needed task such as room prep, checking in patients, uploading documents, data entry and supply inventory. In this role you will also be responsible for proactively scheduling patient visits per the required protocol windows and completing appointment reminder calls. In this role you will be taught the intricacies of clinical trials regulations and the requirements for successful execution of a clinical trial from start up to closing. Other responsibilities can include document preparation, pre-screening patients for eligibility and outreach events.

The majority of the work will be onsite/in-person, with limited work from home opportunity. This position is located at Banner Sun Health Research Institute in Sun City, Arizona. Typical work schedule is M-F 8:00am – 04:30pm, however there is flexibility as needed.

POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for performing patient registrations, as well as compiling and submitting data related to patients engaged in applicable research studies. Monitors study compliance and maintains a system for effective data flow associated with research protocols.

1. Maintains current and accurate protocol documentation and notifies appropriate individuals of pertinent protocol changes. Identifies and communicates important protocol and data management issues to appropriate individuals.

2. Verifies that patients have completed appropriate registration materials and maintains related records and information.

3. Instructs volunteers on protocol requirements and explains procedures and consent forms. Ensures related documentation is properly completed.

4. Ensures protocol compliance with intense monitoring of specific study requirements and schedules protocol related treatment and tests. Performs specific clinical duties as required per the research study.

5. Assists in ordering and maintaining research supplies as directed.

6. Prepares and maintains a variety of documentation in assigned area of responsibility.

7. May serve as a backup, collecting and delivering specimens for analysis using appropriate or specified equipment. Ensures proper labeling and obtains pertinent clinical and protocol information on request forms.

8. Department level responsibility. Some positions may have frequent interaction with patients, families, visitors, physicians, and related clinical departments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.

Knowledge of basic laboratory procedures as normally obtained through the completion of two years experience in a health care setting, preferably in a research environment. Must have knowledge and understanding of medical terminology in order to read, identify, and extract pertinent data from medical records and information. Must be able to multi-task and re-prioritize duties as needed. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Excellent human relations, organizational and communication skills are required.

Must be knowledgeable of data entry and computer programs associated with maintaining databases, spreadsheets, etc.
