Independently performs repairs and maintenance functions in remote locations that can be accomplished by removing, cleaning, reinstalling, or replacing defective parts of components and systems such as injectors, leaking wheel cylinders, corroded mufflers, fuel tanks, brake cylinders and worn brake shoes, voltage regulators, generators, injector pumps, and fuel pumps. Provides technical guidance and specialized team leadership to lower grade employees within the team. Assists lower grade mechanics in performing major repair work.

Conducts readiness and repair inspections on vehicles and associated equipment supported by the activity. Performs operational inspections and ensures vehicles and equipment are properly serviced, including brake adjustments, replacing hydraulic fluids, greasing, cleaning, etc., and performs other preventive maintenance operations as required. Inspects supported equipment prior to use during Inactive Duty Training (IDT) and Annual Training (AT), to ensure that it is functioning properly. May inspect in-process repair work of lower graded repairer to ensure equipment is being repaired in accordance with pertinent requirements. May serve as a commodity inspector during Command Maintenance Management evaluations (COMET) or as a member of a Maintenance Assistance Instruction Team (MAIT). As a AIRCRAFT FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR, GS-2181-13, duties include:

(1) Plans and implements flight training and instruction for rated pilots and instructor pilots in accordance with the individual needs. For a substantial portion of the time (at least 20%), performs one or more of the following:

a) trains, instructs and evaluates pilots in operating aircraft using advanced instruments flight techniques,

b) instructs pilots in methods of instruction and evaluates instructor pilots' proficiency to engage in flight instruction,

c) instructs pilots in operating advanced attack helicopters or heavy multi-engine advanced transport helicopters. Conducts training flights involving operating an aircraft through reference to instruments and use of automatic direction finding equipment such as Omni directional radials, ground control approach and instrument landing systems on and off Federal airways. Conduct refresher, mission and continuation combat training in advance attack helicopters involving aggressor and defensive maneuvers and aerial gunnery practice with heavy ordinance and/or trains and instructs pilots in the operation of heavy multi-engine transport helicopters to transport equipment and personnel in combat situations. Trains pilots in the full range of aircraftmaneuvers required in combat situations. Provides instruction in emergency procedures such as loss of propulsion, directional control or related systems. Performs flights in all weather/environmental conditions, day and night, and using night vision devices. Prepares and presents related classroom instruction. Recommends whether pilots remain in flight status.

(2) May conduct refresher, mission and continuation training in light fixed wing or utility and observer helicopters. Trains pilots in basic and advanced techniques required tosupport the pilot's unit mis'sion. Conducts training flights involving a substantial degree of hazard such as training helicopter pilots in advanced flight techniques required incombat situations, tactical flying at night in all weather conditions and with the use of night vision devices, flight maneuvers which take advantage of the terrain, low level flight,short field takeoffs and landings flying in formation, evasive maneuvers and emergency procedures involving engine failures and malfunctions of hydraulic and electrical systems over hazardousterrain. Performs routine operational flight assignments. Transports passengers including dignitaries to and from a variety oi different points. As required, performs maintenance test flights of aircraft following repair or maintenance.

(3) Advises and represents the Commander on all matters concerning aviation/ground safety related to the facility. Ensures facility conforms to Public Law in areas of occupational health and safety. Plans, organizes and supervises society activities for all personnel assigned to the facility. Publishes and coordinates new and revised directives and procedures designed to promote safety at the facility. Reviews these directives and procedures with the supported aviation unit safety offices. Acts as the facility liaison officer with all outside safety offices and agencies. Coordinates these activities with the Facility Commander.

(4) Develops, maintains and rehearses the current accident and pre-accident prevention plans for the aviation facility. Conducts facility safety meetings/lectures and establishes a continuing program to promote the Safety Awareness and Accident Prevention Programs. Ensures effective implementation and compliance with safety directives issued by higher authority pertaining to the facility and assists the Facility Commander in determining the necessity for and issuance of local supplements.

(5) Develops and insures maximum distribution of safety literature and materials to all facility personnel. Makes available and maintains a file of aviation and ground safety materials, directives, and literature. Monitors the safety efforts of the aviation unit safety officers supported by the facility and assists them in the development of their accident prevention programs.

(6) Receives, investigates and reports on all alleged facility safety violations and safety related suggestions. Monitors techniques and proficiency of aircrews in handling weapons, ammunition and POL. Inspects physical conditions of facilitisw for hazards. Posts all known hazards and recommends or takes action to eliminate hazards. Assists in developing and monitors facility Aviation Life Support Equipment Program. Serves as a member of an accident investigation board when ordered.

(7) Serves as advisor to the facility commander and others on safety concerns or missions such as drug interdiction/eradication supported by the facility.

As a SURFACE MAINTENANCE REPAIRER, WG-5801-5/8, duties include:

(1) Performs limited diagnosis, routine repairs and maintenance on heavy-duty mobile equipment, combat, tactical and automotive vehicles. Assists higher graded mechanics in the repair and/or overhaul of major systems to include internal combustion engines, turbine engines, automatic and non-automatic transmissions, heavy duty drive line systems, and hydraulic utility systems and controls. Makes routine repairs that can be accomplished by removing, adjusting, or replacing defective or worn parts and components. Performs work in accordance with technical manuals, lubrication orders, maintenance bulletins, regulations or management policies.

(2) Performs limited diagnoses to determine the cause of mechanical failures by means of visual and auditory checks and/or uses basic test equipment such as compression testers, voltmeters, ohmmeters and pressure gauges. Determines when parts should be cleaned, adjusted or replaced with standard parts to complete work orders.

(3) Removes, replaces, adjusts, cleans and installs parts and components such as wheel seals, switches, sensors, fuel pumps, water pumps, power steering pumps, brakes, filters, radiators, bearings, springs, shock absorbers, wheel cylinders, starter motors, mufflers, battery cables, and other items of similar complexity.

(4) Independently performs routine repairs and maintenance functions in remote locations that can be accomplished by removing, cleaning, reinstalling, or replacing defective parts of components and systems using standard parts. Receives guidance and instruction from a higher graded mechanic or supervisor to perform non-routine and more complex repairs on portions of major assemblies and/or systems. May provide field maintenance at unit locations as part of a "contact team". Recovers and evacuates inoperable vehicles from the unit location of breakdown.

(5) Conducts limited readiness and repair inspections on vehicles and associated equipment supported by the activity. Performs Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) and ensures vehicles and equipment are properly serviced, including brake adjustments, replacing hydraulic fluids, greasing, cleaning, etc. Performs other preventive maintenance operations as required to ensure that equipment is functioning properly.

(6) May perform routine maintenance and limited repairs on basic communication equipment such as radios, field telephones, amplifiers, switchboards, recorders, intercoms by removing and replacing components and elements. Performs minor body and fender, or other metal repairs, using peening hammers, dollies and limited welding. Performs limited repairs and routine maintenance on small arms and accessory equipment by replacing worn or damaged parts. Makes minor repairs to canvas and leather items using bonding/sealing compounds and hand tools such as awls, canvas needles etc.

(7) In conjunction with or in the absence of the Tools and Parts Attendant, may maintain supply documentation, and the receipt, store, issue, and inventory of tools and parts used in the trades operation.

As a PROGRAM ANALYST, GS-0343-7/9, duties include:

- Reviews, evaluates and analyzes obligations and expenditures. Prepares directorate or division summaries from reports submitted by Major Subordinate Commands (MSC)*.

-Summarizes and interprets significant data collected and relates this data to the organizations program actions; identifies and analyzes deficiencies in resource consumption, training, workload and scheduling, and evaluates deviations from standards, plans, and estimates to determine cause and impact on missions.

- Assists management in interpretation and utilization of reports and information provided. Develops various visual media to present trends, performance status, capability and related management information. Aids functional areas in identifying areas of record documentation and procedures that can be streamlined, combined or improved and initiates methods to operate under the new or revised system. Implements management control plans.

- Provides recommendations to subordinate organizations for proper management of programs. Recommends funding allocations and monitors expenditure to ensure allocations are being utilized as planned and are not being exceeded. Adjusts allocations as needed. Report expenditure status to management and National Guard Bureau (NGB) as required.

- Based on budget guidance received from higher headquarters, develops an annual budget for programs. Reviews prior and current budgets/funding trends, compiles funding projections and prepares funding recommendations. Anticipates requirements for program funds by reviewing execution plans and recommends appropriate action such as reprogramming funds from one program to another to correct funding shortfalls. This requires close coordination with major subordinate commands and comptroller personnel, and an in-depth understanding of the status of the projects and contracts, their completion status and their significance to ensure that the recommendations made will allow for the successful completion of management programs. Reviews the status of program milestones requests payment of funds after it has been determined that the requirements have been properly satisfied.

As a IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC), GS-2210-9/11, duties include:

1. Conducts audits of information systems compliance, to include network devices; servers; and end user devices, related to security standards, guides and application updates to enable and ensure accreditation of all systems IAW with all command, Army, and DOD security directives, policies and procedures. Ensures that all elements are in compliance with guidance concerning accreditation of automated information systems, risk management, control of computer viruses, and other similar issues.

2. Reviews Army Training and Certification Tracking System, approves new user accounts, and conducts ongoing audits to ensure all privileged and user accounts comply with Army Standards.

3. Conducts investigation of security incidents, reports findings to leadership and remediates findings based on guidance from the cybersecurity service provider and IAW with all command, Army, and DOD security directives, policies and procedures to include: computer viruses and sanitation of highly classified information from organization.

5. Maintains an operational knowledge base of past, current and possible future threats to the security posture by attending courses, conferences, seminars, online research, and information sharing between other Cybersecurity/Information Assurance professionals. Must anticipate the effects of new emerging technology and develop policies to control it to prevent security violations. --Serves as project leader responsible for developing, assigning, and coordinating duties and projects for systems administrators. The project members are specifically assigned to one or more of the multiple system platforms located throughout the state.

--Develops, modifies, and tests overall system backup and recovery strategies for all systems.

--Serves as the technical expert and focal point for installation, configuration and testing of hardware and software associated with multiple operating systems and computer platforms. Provides technical assistance and analysis to other IT personnel involved in system design, programming, database design, and adapting commercially available software. Determines equipment requirements, communications, and interfaces with other systems.
