A WG-5801-8/10, SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC:

• Performs limited diagnosis, routine repairs and maintenance on heavy-duty mobile equipment, combat, tactical and automotive vehicles. Assists higher graded mechanics in the repair and/or overhaul of major systems to include internal combustion engines, turbine engines, automatic and non-automatic transmissions, heavy duty drive line systems, and hydraulic utility systems and controls. Makes routine repairs that can be accomplished by removing, adjusting, or replacing defective or worn parts and components. Performs work in accordance with technical manuals, lubrication orders, maintenance bulletins, regulations or management policies.

Performs Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) and ensures vehicles and equipment are properly serviced, including brake adjustments, replacing hydraulic fluids, greasing, cleaning, etc. Performs other preventive maintenance operations as required to ensure that equipment is functioning properly.
• May perform routine maintenance and limited repairs on basic communication equipment such as radios, field telephones, amplifiers, switchboards, recorders, intercoms by removing and replacing components and elements. As an, Supply Technician, GS-2005-07, you will perform routine and nonroutine material coordination duties for special programs, maintenance, or production shops. Responsible for local management of decentralized and decontrolled items which requires technical intervention to assure effective supply support and economy. Items are less stable or standardized and do not lend themselves to routine control through the use of the computer and variable supply level formulas. Plans requirements, both quantitative and monetary, to satisfy customer needs. Authorize procurement and is responsible for funds management.

Starting at $49,025 Per Year (GS 7)

1. Establishes plans, schedules, and controls the maintenance and repair of a variety of vehicles and equipment such as combat vehicles, heavy-duty engineering and mobile equipment, tracked vehicles, towed and self-propelled artillery, communications and electronic equipment, guided missile systems, and small arms. Implements maintenance plans and monitors progress of accomplishments. Provides status of equipment, maintenance actions in progress, and location of equipment. Inputs data regarding work order information, status changes, supply updates, and other pertinent information. Makes on-the-spot adjustments to repair priorities on routine or reoccurring processes necessitated by unscheduled maintenance requirements.
2. Studies directives, modification work orders, and regulations as to their application in the unit. Assists supervisory personnel in determining impact of these requirements on shop capability. Modifies production planning to accommodate these requirements. Conducts initial and long range planning pertaining to routine production processes, mechanical skills, availability of test and diagnostic equipment, repair parts, and other factors influencing the repair, modification, and maintenance of equipment and readiness reporting.
3. Designates and maintains current maintenance repair priorities by Force Activity Designator, pacing items, Equipment Readiness Codes (ERC) A, B, and C equipment type, available funds, commander's priority, state/national priorities, (in the case of floods, fires, and mobilizations) and unit supported. Authorizes the acceptance of equipment for repair; monitors work priorities, status, and completion of work orders and requisitions; and provides status of repair parts. Assists supervisory personnel regarding readiness, Class 9 (CL IX) funding, production problems and work planning. Assists in the resolution of problems encountered between scheduled or unscheduled production or priority requirements.
4. Provides assistance to ensure that Modified Table of Organization and Equipment (MTO&E) or Table of Distribution and Allowances (TDA) reportable Line Item Numbers (LIN) are properly managed, reported and accounted for with respect to readiness reports, property accountability reports and system management. Based on guidance received from the supervisor or higher graded production controller, prioritizes resources to ensure the highest level of readiness in support of training and mobilization requirements of supported units. As a MATERIALS HANDLER (Recruitment Incentive) - Title 32, WG-6907-6, you will oversee one or more product lines, a segment of a large warehouse, or serve as the senior employee in a smaller warehouse or supply facility.

Starting at $22.65 Per Hour (WG 6)

As a ELECTRONICS MECHANIC, WG-2604-10, you will perform field and sustainment maintenance and repair on moderately complex electronics equipment and systems.

(1) Performs troubleshooting and routine repairs on individual components and moderately complex systems of launch pod/containers (LP/C), trainer rocket simulator modules, Missiles/Launchers Pod Assemblies (M/LPA), trainer missile simulator modules, and various like items. Troubleshoots carrier electrical and power distributions systems components of the weapon system or equipment being repaired. Isolates faulty assemblies, cables, wiring harnesses and modules to component level for repair or replacement. Performs initial and final checks and may perform inspections when required on equipment being repaired.

(2) Performs functional tests, analyzes performance and malfunctions, removes, installs, tests, maintains, modifies, performs alignments and troubleshoots the electronic, electrical, modules, and interconnecting cables of a variety of combat and tactical, and communication equipment. This equipment has moderate or limited complexity to include multi-channel very high frequency (VHF) or ultra high frequency (UHF) transmitters or receivers, power supplies, and multilayered printed circuit boards. Repairs or replaces chassis mounted components on Unit Under Test (UUT). Performs Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) operations for fault isolation on electronic modules, circuit cards and assemblies, and similar items to component level. Replaces faulty components on UUT printed circuit boards and power distribution systems. Utilizes oscilloscopes, signal generators, digital multi-meters, and other test equipment to locate, diagnose, and repair malfunctions.

(3) Performs field and limited sustainment maintenance to include installation, routine maintenance, repair, and overhaul of fixed and mobile operational communication and electronics systems, e.g., shelter mounted AM radio and teletype systems, shelter mounted single side band radio and teletype systems, shelter mounted radio relay and terminal systems, other moderately complex systems, peripheral equipment, and related test equipment, and Modification Table Of Equipment (MTOE) authorized automation equipment. Repairs, aligns, and adjusts infrared night vision sights, optical sights, and traversing units. Removes and replaces defective electrical, electronic, and mechanical components. Conducts inspections, diagnoses nature and extent of equipment malfunction. Determines whether equipment may be economically repaired or declared unserviceable. Performs required maintenance to restore to a serviceable condition various types of tactical computers, radio sets, and similar items. Repairs or recommends for salvage defective components or assemblies. Isolates and diagnoses cause of circuit/component malfunction using signal string lists, schematics, standard, special and electronic Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) or repair equipment. Uses associated field maintenance equipment in analytical maintenance procedures. Installs and applies equipment modifications when directed.

(4) Uses various types of test equipment to include systems test sets and stands such as AN/GRM-122s, frequency meters, standing wave indicators, oscillators, ohmmeters, voltmeters, resistance bridges, and signal generators to localize trouble by component unit, by circuit within a component, and by element of a circuit. Uses special and common hand tools, power tools, and gauges to make intricate repairs.

(5) Performs administrative functions in establishing and maintaining maintenance records on equipment maintained or repaired. Assists in the preparation of requests for required repair parts.

(6) May conduct or be involved in a Maintenance Assistance and Instruction Team (MAIT) or act as an inspector on a Command Maintenance Evaluation Team (COMET) on electronic, automation, communication, and equipment. Provides technical assistance and instruction to units throughout the state so that they will be able to operate at the desired level of proficiency.

A SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC, WG-5801-11, (1) Performs maintenance, troubleshooting, and major repair on heavy-duty mobile equipment, combat, tactical, and automotive vehicles. This may include self-propelled artillery, tracked cargo and personnel carriers, road graders, mobile cranes, front loaders, bulldozers, power shovels, tanks, tracked combat vehicles, all terrain vehicles, semi trailers, forklifts, tractors, and accessory equipment. Troubleshoots, repairs and/or overhauls, as a regular and recurring duty, a variety of the mechanically complex major systems to include internal combustion engines, turbine engines, automatic and nonautomatic transmissions, heavy duty drive line systems, and hydraulic utility systems and controls, cross drive or similar multi-system transmissions and a variety of intricate fuel injection systems. Makes repairs and modifications to assemblies and components such as voltage regulators, generators/alternators, brake cylinders, etc., for use or placement in systems for which they were not specifically designed. Improvises work when standard procedures do not apply.
(2) Troubleshoots equipment with a variety of the mechanically complex major systems and diagnoses difficult performance problems and the cause of mechanical failures by means of visual and auditory checks, uses test equipment such as engine analyzers, compression testers, voltmeters, ohmmeters, pressure gauges and computer diagnostic tools. Utilizes embedded diagnostics in equipment and a wide variety of specialized original equipment manufacturer system analyzers in order to determine the exact nature or extent of repair. Determines what adjustments may be necessary to complete work orders, and whether any additional repairs other than those specified or indicated on the work order are necessary.
(3) Removes and disassembles engines and complex major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, and fuel, hydraulic, and oil pressure systems. Makes the appropriate repairs, overhaul, or modifications in accordance with the proper repair specifications and procedures, and improvises repair techniques when standard procedures are not available. Reassembles engines and other systems, and adjusts, tests, and reinstalls in vehicles and equipment as necessary. Makes adjustments and repairs to electrical and suspension systems. Repairs equipment with a variety of interconnected systems to include state of the art electrical and electronic, fuel injection, interconnected gear reduction, multiple engine, and similarly complex systems. Improvises, substitutes, or alters components or parts to fit into systems for which the items were not specially designed or finds other ways to correct defects when existing methods and procedures do not give desired results.
(4) Independently performs repairs and maintenance functions with little or no supervision in remote locations. Provides technical guidance and specialized team leadership to lower grade employees within the team. Assists lower grade mechanics in performing major repair work on interconnected complex systems such as electrical, air and hydraulic systems, complex state of the art electrical and electronic systems that use specialized diagnostic equipment to identify problems, complex fuel injection systems and other similar complex systems. May provide Field and limited Sustainment maintenance at unit locations as part of a "contact team."
(5) Conducts readiness and repair inspections on vehicles and associated equipment supported by the activity. Performs operational inspections and ensures vehicles and equipment are properly serviced, including brake adjustments, replacing hydraulic fluids, greasing, cleaning, etc., and performs other preventive maintenance operations as required. Inspects supported equipment prior to use during Inactive Duty Training (IDT) and Annual Training (AT), to ensure that it is functioning properly. May inspect in-process repair work of lower graded repairer to ensure equipment is being repaired in accordance with pertinent requirements. May serve as a commodity inspector during Command Maintenance Management evaluations (COMET) or as a member of a Maintenance Assistance Instruction Team (MAIT). Instructs operator/crew in the maintenance of equipment and provides technical advice and assistance to supported units when requested.
(6) Performs electrical repairs on complex state of the art electrical and electronic systems requiring extensive training on specialized diagnostic equipment to identify problems.
(7) Assists in the maintenance of production reports and records, and makes recommendations to the supervisor. Plans, organizes, and performs technical analyses as required or assigned. Makes recommendations to the supervisor as to adjustments necessary to effectively, efficiently and economically accomplish the work and maximize production.

Starting at $34.64 Per Hour (WG 11)

(1) Develops, implements, coordinates and monitors all aspects of the R3/SPP related to identification, assessment, intervention and preventive education. Develops training modules for each target group that includes development of lesson plans, supporting visual aids, etc. Designs special courses in response to identified trends and needs of the command, e.g., a high risk profile in crimes against persons at work would dictate a course on violence in the workplace, or matters of general Soldier resilience. Coordinates information for seminars, conferences and orientation workshop's as appropriate in providing instruction and specialized intervention education (stress management, low risk decision making, etc.) to soldiers, family members and civilians. Workshops are mandated by Army regulations and local policies to provide continued training and intervention for the command and community. Coordinates and ensures Soldiers and units receive resilience training.

(2) Serves as the collection/collaboration point of contact (POC) for the submission of crimes against persons and property, injuries/accidents, spouse abuse, child abuse and suicide attempts/completions in a computerized spreadsheet system. Maintains adequate records and databases to administer the programs information to provide the necessary reports to the MILPO. Coordinates with the Sexual Assault Prevention and Response (SAPR) and State ADCO to provide initial response and support to Commanders and personnel during critical incidents, as well as reviews alcohol offenses and drug positives (to include unit positive urinalysis data) to determine comorbid trends. Provides ongoing needs assessments; promotes informed decision-making about prevention, design and delivery.

(3) Creates quality spreadsheets, printouts and graphics for use by commanders, assesses data and provides command consultations to commanders at all levels recommending intervention strategies. Maintains the unit R3/SPP Data reports. Designs and creates effective publications, such as the R3/SPP Newsletter, R3/SPP Alert bulletins, and other training and media materials with an R3/SPP focus. Complies with all regulatory guidelines for publications. Networks with on and off post resources to provide the military community with accurate, up-to-date prevention information. Evaluates R3/SPP, composes drafts of improvement plans with achievable goals within budgetary requirements. Targets possible program problems and designs possible solutions. Serves on command committees and teams as needed representing R3/SPP, Comprehensive Soldier Fitness (CSF) Program, Army Suicide Prevention Program (SPP) and the Army Substance Abuse Program (ASAP). Conducts customized briefings for civilian and military personnel regarding the R3/SPP.

(4) Provides plans for an efficient resource management program and maximum support of service delivery. Plans include supported projections of long-term soldier readiness and support plans and resource needs to ARNG level trends and directives. Analyzes the MILPO readiness and support budget functions and provide recommendations to resolve existing or forecasted shortages. Provides advice and assistance to accommodate soldier's needs during full or partial unit mobilizations and to alleviate concern of members about soldier/family welfare in the event of mobilization. Provides plans that maximize readiness and support resources for soldier/family member assistance during day-to-day. Assesses, identifies, and determines soldier/family issues, trends, needs, program priorities, and program effectiveness through utilization of appropriate research methods and resources. Analyzes ongoing soldier/family services evaluation program and provides recommendations to resolve problems of overlap, duplication or conflict and to ensure effective goals and objectives are accomplished.

DUTIES CONTINUED UNDER EDUCATION

Starting at $59,966 Per Year (GS 9)

1. Repairs, modifies, overhauls, inspects, troubleshoots, tests, adjusts, and cleans the optics and supporting mechanical and electrical elements of complex panoramic telescopes. These contain offset prism assemblies, fire control instruments and a wide variety of less complex instruments and devices such as transits, theodolites, aiming circles, binoculars, searchlights, gunner's quadrants, compasses, periscopes, telescopes, and mounts, surveying sets, and fire direction sets.
2. Visually inspects optical instrument equipment and operates mechanisms to determine serviceability, damaged or worn parts, and malfunctions. Disassembles equipment; examines for serviceability using precision measuring instruments and special tools; checks lenses and prisms for aberrations; replaces worn or defective parts; reassembles, adjusts, and tests for alignment, collimation, and operations. Interprets and applies special modifications in accordance with prescribed Modification Work Orders (MWO'S). Inspects, cleans and makes minimal repairs to the more complex optical devices such as ballistic computing range-finders; L.A.S.E.R. range finders and designators hermetically sealed, full field coincidence image fire control range-finders; and articulated telescopes containing offset prism assemblies, eyepiece assemblies, articulated joint assemblies and erector assemblies. Refers to a variety of technical manuals to obtain proper setup and testing procedures. Uses special fixtures, testing, and measuring equipment such as telescope and azimuth test fixtures, binocular collimator fixture, surface plate, micrometers, dial indicators, and depth gauges, for adjusting and testing optical instruments and devices.
3. Abides by safety precautions when working with compressors, hoses, and tank testing equipment. Analyzes and tests continuity of electrical circuits by utilizing test equipment such as ohmmeter, voltmeter, and multi-voltage test set. Required to inspect, diagnose, and repair high voltage power sources used with night vision devices, aware of the hazards involved in checking high voltage circuits.
4. Serves as a commodity inspector during technical inspections, Command Maintenance Evaluation Team (COMET) or Maintenance Assistance and (MAIT) Instruction Team. Provides technical advice and assistance to units and field maintenance shops throughout the state. Troubleshoots and makes on-the-spot corrections, repairs, and adjustments when possible. Instructs unit personnel in the proper operation and maintenance procedures for care, use, adjustment, and storage of equipment being inspected.

A WG-6904-6, TOOLS AND PARTS ATTENDANT:

• Identifies user's tools, parts, equipment, and requirements and requisitions stock as needed. Watches and reports items that are in short supply because of breakage or because they are frequently out for repair.
• Recommends possible substitute or interchangeable items.
• Sets up and maintains storage locations. Determines methods of storage, identification, and stock location, considering such factors as temperature, humidity, height and weight limits, turnover, floor loading capacities, space available, and convenience of handling items.
• Compiles records concerned with quantity, cost, and type of material received, stored, and issued.
• Prepares periodic inventory and determines the basis for over, short, or misplaced items by checking such references as out-for-repair, issue, and turn-in records maintained in the tools and parts room.
• Compiles reports of use of stock handling equipment, adjustments of inventory counts and stock records, spoilage of or damage to stock, location changes, and refusal of shipments.

A MATERIALS HANDLER, WG-6907-6, 1. Performs a full range of warehousing activities to include receiving, storing, selecting and shipping bulk and bin materials and equipment. Assists in the development of plans for storage and arrangement of stock to determine warehouse configuration, setup, movement, rearrangement and traffic flow. In larger warehouse facilities, the incumbent may participate in developing storage and space utilization plans in accordance with materials storage areas. The assignment may include insuring the safe receipt, storage, and movement of hazardous items such as ammunition, explosives, chemicals, or radioactive materials in accordance with facility and regulatory requirements. In smaller warehouses, the incumbent serves as the senior non supervisory worker of the facility, laying out storage space, establishing item locations, determining organization and arrangement of stock, identifying high and low usage items. Serves as the senior member of a warehouse project team comprised of material handlers involved in a special project such as relocating a major commodity or equipment group, or setting up a new commodity group area. Prepares items for processing, utilizing appropriate Standard Anny Management Information System (STAMIS) such as computer terminal and bar code reader to read, store, track and prepare material documentation. Performs classification inspections for material within range of authority. Ensures formal accountability when receiving, storing or issuing. Insures that special documentation remains with materials throughout the storage/issue process, i.e. Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS), Controlled Cryptographic Item (CCI) certificate, and applicable annexes, Departments of Army Form 581, Ammunition residue certificate. Performs quality assurance inspections of materials in storage. Prepares a variety of supply documents and reports.
2. Coordinates incoming and outgoing shipments and placement of materials within docking area.
