This Assistant Federal Security Director - Generalist position is located at William P. Hobby Airport (HOU), Transportation Security Administration, Department of Homeland Security (DHS). If selected, you will be responsible for supporting the Federal Security Director (FSD) by providing day to day direction for airport security and operations at airports with multiple checkpoints and a workforce. Duties include but are not limited to:

• Providing support in the following areas: tactical planning, execution and operating management for coordinated security services.
• Participating in briefings concerning sensitive security information.
• Serving as a Principal Advisor to the Federal Security Director (FSD) on all matters concerning operational support.

As the principal representative in regulatory surveillance of air carrier activities, exercises certificate authority over a major air carrier with very extensive and complex avionics. Analyzes flight involving large fleets of turbojet aircraft engaged in large-scale passenger and freight service; or evaluates maintenance activities and complete aircraft overhaul facilities which are equipped and staffed to handle the latest and most sophisticated turbojet aircraft and associated systems. This level includes responsibility for nationally and internationally prominent carriers who operate the largest, most advanced fleets of turbojet aircraft in the industry

The PAI plans and directs the use of time and resources to accomplish organizational objectives. He or she defines, organizes, and uses resources to accomplish work activities within established schedules, analyzes program requirements and accomplishments, and makes or directs adjustments as necessary to address organizational needs.

Serve as a recognized national expert and consultant with a high level of technical knowledge and professional expertise concerning state-of-the art aircraft simulation of all aircraft with full and final responsibility for technical decisions relating to:

1. Simulation hardware including control loading, motion and visual systems.
2. Simulation software including simulator and visual data base programming.
3. Evaluation of aircraft Flight Simulation Training Devices (FSTDs) in
accordance with agency regulations and standards.
4. Upgrading previously approved simulation equipment to the standards set
forth in the agency’s simulation plan and other directives.

Concentrates principally on the day-to-day operations of the assigned section and on monitoring, coordinating, and evaluating highly complex operational problems that have a major impact on agency mission. Recommends, coordinates, evaluates, and monitors progress on high priority Flight Standards Service aircraft simulation projects. Reviews and evaluates or provides for the review and evaluation of the results of such projects to determine the applicability to responsibilities of the Training Simulation Group and recommends their incorporation into rules, regulations, policies, standards, programs and procedures, as appropriate, and coordinates the participation of other responsible personnel. Reviews and ensures the adequacy of safety regulatory material developed by the Flight Standards Service that relate to aircraft simulation. Provides advice for rulemaking and recommends the development of new or amended rules, regulations, standards, or other regulatory material, as required, and the discontinuance of those no longer considered appropriate or necessary.

Serves an aviation safety inspector responsible for reviewing and evaluating, on a continuing basis, established rules and regulations related to assigned technical programs to assure that they have kept pace with the directed needs and that they are still reasonable, necessary, and adequate. Evaluates regulatory petitions or proposals from within or outside the agency, and recommends the development of new or amended rules, regulations, or other regulatory material, and the discontinuance of rules and regulations no longer considered necessary.

Assists and represents the Training Simulation Group manager and the Flight Standards Service in coordination with the other flight standards elements relating to aircraft simulation development efforts of the agency. Has full authority to act and speak for the Training Simulation Group and the Division within the limits of established policy when representing the agency. Participates in planning, consolidating, coordinating, monitoring and evaluating programs, special assignments, and activities of the Training Simulation Group staff relative to complex and special programs involving FSTDs evaluation, approval and use and other high priority staff programs.

This Supervisory Transportation Security Officer position is located at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), Transportation Security Administration, Department of Homeland Security (DHS). As a Supervisory Transportation Security Officer (STSO), you will be responsible for mitigating actual and potential threats against civil aviation and other transportation modes. You will also perform and supervise in your area of specialty, which may include Transportation Security Officers (TSOs) and Lead Transportation Security Officers (LTSOs) in the performance of all security functions related to the screening of people, property, and cargo through the use and application of procedures, techniques, and technology. In addition, you will make independent, security-based decisions using intelligence, critical thinking, experience, observation, and passenger engagement.
