This Supervisory Transportation Security Officer position is located at Long Beach Daugherty Field Airport (LGB), Transportation Security Administration, Department of Homeland Security (DHS). As a Supervisory Transportation Security Officer (STSO), you will be responsible for mitigating actual and potential threats against civil aviation and other transportation modes. You will also perform and supervise in your area of specialty, which may include Transportation Security Officers (TSOs) and Lead Transportation Security Officers (LTSOs) in the performance of all security functions related to the screening of people, property, and cargo through the use and application of procedures, techniques, and technology. In addition, you will make independent, security-based decisions using intelligence, critical thinking, experience, observation, and passenger engagement. Typical duties include, but are not limited to:

• Conducting and supervising subordinate employees in conducting pre-board security screening of persons, their carry-on and checked baggage/cargo.
• Overseeing screening checkpoint(s) and/or baggage screening operations on a day-to-day basis to include equipment, personnel, and the scheduling and rotation of personnel.
• Participating in the development of new policies and procedures, and recommending changes in policy and procedures based on observation of work, as required.
• Participating in the development of strategic planning initiatives, workforce planning, succession planning initiatives, and other reports and documents for TSA and superiors.
• Engaging in continuous development of critical thinking skills necessary to mitigate security threats by identifying, evaluating, and applying appropriate situational options and approaches.
• Preparing various types of communications such as morning briefings, checkpoint logs, reports, and documents that are germane to the work performed.
• Developing incident information and reports for Law Enforcement Officers (LEOs) and superiors.
• Serving as a member of the National Screening Force.

The PAI receives administrative direction from management in terms of broadly defined missions or
functions. The PAI, mostly independently plans, designs, and carries out programs, projects, studies, or
other work. The PAI provides policy assistance to field level Aviation Safety Inspectors (ASIs) on
difficult or complex policy interpretations. The work is normally accepted without change. Completed
work may be reviewed for adherence to FAA policy and for assurance that project requirements have been
fulfilled.

ASIs at the FG-13 level issue certificates to and monitor (1) a large and complex aviation organization or
(2) a number of smaller organizations that, together, are comparable in complexity to one large one. They
are the primary contact point with the aviation organization(s). They may decide on issuance of the original
certificates. They evaluate and decide upon proposals to change the authorized programs of the
organizations. They continuously monitor the activities of organizations to determine whether they are
following their authorized program, Federal regulations, and good safety practices

FG-13 assignments are characterized by one or more of the following:

1. Commercially operated aircraft or and the complex avionics equipment associated with such
2. A variety of maintenance operations with diverse types of aircraft; or
3. Novel and complex aviation operations.

FG-13 employees plan and conduct their assignments with substantial technical independence. They receive administrative and policy guidance from their supervisors and policy makers. They also obtain technical advice from higher-level inspectors who are experts on a particular type of aircraft or who have overall program responsibility. They independently plan and carry out a work program to meet the needs and monitor the activities of the organizations for which they have certification responsibility. The scope and complexity of the work program may be such as to require the occasional assistance of other employees to conduct inspections and evaluate operations.

The PAI applies a mastery knowledge level of the appropriate specialization and a broad knowledge of the
mission and goals to assigned programs and areas of responsibility.

The PAI plans and directs the use of time and resources to accomplish organizational objectives. He or she
defines, organizes, and uses resources to accomplish work activities within established schedules, analyzes
program requirements and accomplishments, and makes or directs adjustments as necessary to address organizational needs.

Guidelines and precedents are frequently inadequate for dealing with novel or complex operations.
incumbent understand and apply the basic principles of aviation safety and interpret the intent of
the regulations.

Contacts are frequently with owners and top managers of aviation corporations and involve
negotiating and resolving the full range of issues and problems that confront aviation organizations.
Occasionally issues are controversial, arousing considerable public interest.

ASIs at the FG-13 level participate extensively in the certification inspection and surveillance of highly
complex air carrier operations where principal program responsibility is vested in an aviation safety inspector
of higher grade. Employees have broad authority to negotiate with carrier management and
make technical determinations within the coverage of approved specifications and policy manuals.

The PAI provides guidance to field level staff to solve difficult technical issues. Resolves all but unique
problems, with the intervention of management or a more experienced technical specialist. Develop plans,
techniques, and policies to address current and anticipated problems and issues.

The PAI is expected to follow established laws, order, policies and regulations that provide general guidance for completing work adjectives but is allowed discretion to develop new or innovative approaches.

Performs other duties as assigned.

You will be working 30 hours a week completing set shifts, Monday - Friday split shifts of 7:30am-10:30am and 14:30 - 17:30. You will be responsible for ensuring the company vehicle used is refuelled and to check the vehicle before going out and after return, keeping it clean inside and out and reporting any faults/damage.

You will need to demonstrate each of the following:

• Hold a valid full UK driving license with no more than 3 points & must be able to drive an automatic vehicle
• Extensive experience of driving in cities and motorways, both day and night time
• Ideally have some previous healthcare experience
• Able to navigate around an area using sat nav or maps
• Able to plan and keep to a schedule
• Physically fit for getting in and out of vehicles and loading and unloading
• Willing to work unsupervised
• Good customer service skills to enable you to work in partnership with the escorting clinical staff and colleagues to provide the best standard of care to our patients especially when dealing with patients
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written

Essential Functions

• Sales and Marketing:
  Frontline Sales Representative for Vehicle Sales, in person, online and via phone
  Responsible for executing the UTC’s marketing plan, this includes product selection for periodicals, trade associations, and industry specific marketing campaigns
  Coordinate outbound marketing efforts, including but not limited to phone calls, marketing mailers, and Thank You cards.
  Act as liaison between Asset Management, Rental and Lease product Lines
  Responsible for the overall accuracy and content of the Lead Tracker database. Accuracy of this process will measure the effectiveness of the UTC marketing efforts.
  Complete understanding of the used vehicle market place and local competitors
  Cover for the VSM at their location, as well as other locations when needed, in their absence as required by business needs.
  Responsible for structuring and selling all ancillary products (Finance and Extended Warranty) to meet customer needs, and fulfill Ryder’s expectations.
  Develop and expand relationships with existing customer base utilizing all avenues of communication and resources to ensure customer retention levels are met and exceeded
  Install sold signs/mark vehicles as directed

• Inventory Management:
  Manage overall effectiveness of the UTC website for content and data accuracy. Provide feedback for development.
  Accountable for all vehicle inventory movement within the UTC’s area of operations, including offsite and satellite locations
  Maintain key tracking system for inventory management and vehicle security
  Responsible for Vehicle quality and appearance utilizing washing, detailing, and vehicle exercise program
  Perform weekly yard check with required documentation from off-site locations
  Occasionally drive truck within the UTC boundaries to properly align inventory

• Administrative:
  Managing unit files and sales recording systems including titling, licensing, and legal sale documents
  Manage mandatory compliance requirements, i.e. Sarbanes Oxley, Safety STAR Program and related company communications/initiatives
  Maintaining Cash log, collect funds accurately and timely
  Manage the UTC supply inventory
  Maintain vehicle sales compliance with local, state, Federal and other regulating agencies

Additional Responsibilities

• Increase location sales by assisting with all the aspects of the sales process

• Maximize proceeds for vehicles sold by improving retail activity

• Maximize sale time by providing sales support to the VSM

• Maximize customer retention by enhancing the sales process and reaching out to new and existing customers

• Ensure the location is Sarbanes Oxley compliant in all required areas.

• Maximize productivity by maintaining a neat and orderly work environment in all areas to the UTC
